Comfort on the XM5 is Garbo imo. I also think it has the worst ANC of the other Sony/Bose options. Looks nice though.
If.you can wait for next model (xm6) o would. I purchased the XM5's the week the released in Australia at $200 discount from Sony. I think it totalled 350 at time. BUT new design is NOT portable and same electrical hiss developed in left ear this time after 15 months.
(Reason discount, my XM3s had developed a hiss in one ear and there repair too far. Plus put of warranty. Plus discount was accidentally calculated as iff I traded XM5s in not XM3s)

The comfort and sound is better on the XM5 but weather is worth the extra money for a 15% upgrade is up to the individual.
$367 is a great price for these (although I price protected and got for $350 in the end
I made the exact same switch — but regret it. The Sony XM5 sounds just as good as my old Bose, but is far less comfortable and heats up a lot quicker. And, the "touch" controls are annoying. I would try in store if you can.

Yes. XM series headphones are released every two years and XM5 was released in 2022.
I was also considering XM5 and have decided to wait for XM6. I have owned XM1, XM2 and use currently XM3 which did a fantastic job during lockdowns.
@vrsac: thanks for the confirmation. i will wait for a while (either for the xm6, or possibly even lower price for the xm5 in a few months of time). already have bose 700, but its battery life is ridiculously short for a pair of full size (max 17 hours).
@aec: Doubt the xm5 would go much lower than $350 at best. Just have to weigh everything up, but short battery is no good. These are great 35h or something.

In regards to the iPhone, does anyone know what "Excellent - Refurbished" condition entails? Is it as new? New battery? Or is it just used, but not that old?
Remember to periodically check Sony's eBay - I got a refurb ULT WEAR for $207.20 delivered today.
ULT WEAR was only released a few weeks ago - uses the same noise canceling chip as the XM5 but with BASSSSSSS.
Unsure if this was simply a return with no use or the incredibly lightly creased box was considered damaged - all accessories were unopened and there are no visible signs of use.
Torn between the Ult and the xm4. Don't care much for the bass but the microphone seems a million times better for calls
Never had the XM5 but did have the XM3, the ULT is dramatically more comfortable than the XM4.
I actually stopped using the XM3s because id start to get s headache after about 30 mins.
The noise cancellation is better than my XM3 but still way behind my Bose QC45s and Airpod Max's, so guessing it's probably comparable to the XM4.
Sound quality is definitely superior to the XM3s and with some EQ can sound as neutral as you like, responds far better to EQ than the XM3.
Out of all of my full sized ANC headphones I think the ULTs actually sound the best. Really happy for the price.
Just wish the ANC was that bit better.
Just received my ULTs from the Sony refurbished store. Paid $200 and wow, I'm very impressed with them. The reviews complained they were 'muddy' but once I adjusted the EQ I am getting fantastic sound with rich bass.

Not the XM4's and listening to YouTube sound comparisons are never 100% accurate due to playback differences but should give you a rough idea of the sound when EQ'd.

Sony's stock tuning is a little suspect, copy the EQ that's on the screen in this video and use that as a starting point if you want to customize further. Really brings out the midrange.

@wingun: When these came out I went to my goto 'AmFilm x3' screen protectors in the past but returned them as the edges are curved on the P8 (idiots) and they would halo. I haven't checked since to see if there is anything good yet, had to get a custom one fitted (Nano glass).
