To get the discount you need to generate a TechRadar 7% Dell coupon code and apply it at checkout for (surprise surprise) 7% off the G15, which takes it from $1,618.10 down to $1,504.85.

Dell G15 5535
AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS CPU
Nvidia RTX 4060 (8GB)
15.6" FHD (1920x1080) 165Hz G-Sync, 3ms, 100% sRGB display
16GB (2x8GB) DDR5 RAM (upgradeable)
512GB SSD
86Wh battery

This is a monster laptop, but great spec for the price if you don't plan to haul it around every single day. And while 7% off is fine, just as important is that this G15 is already a solid deal before the discount. But ever since Dell was busted by the ACCC for being misleading with discounts, they don't even post the original prices anymore, so it's now super hard to tell how discounted things are.

But for an RTX 4060 gaming laptop, $1,504.85 is a great deal and I can't find anything better right now at this price point. It's not an all time low though but not far off.

Disclaimer: I work for TechRadar AU (though have been an OzBargainer longer!) and when not obsessing over power banks (and posting about it here) I trawl for sweet sweet laptop deals. And I have been trying to find the best deals using these unique codes. Posting it here means I can tell my boss that being on OzBargain all day is necessary. And of course also gets a bit of commission if people buy something using the codes. You can read more about how we source codes here.

The Dell coupons on the TechRadar Dell coupon code include both a 7% and a 10% coupon. The 10% coupon works on various XPS laptops, but I was testing it on other products and found many work - including some Alienware accessories such as keyboards, mice, backpacks and headsets. So worth taking a look!

In my testing the 7% off coupon code works on some (but not all) Alienware and Inspiron laptops and desktops, and G Series laptops, and consumer monitors.

For example, 7% off will take an extra $157.31 off this great Dell G16 RTX 4070 deal posted a little while back. Sadly it won't work on this Alienware m16 4080 deal. There are some other decent Alienware deals that the codes work on, so I will post them once I have finished going through all the options.

Oh and feel to post any good deals you find that the codes work for, so I can steal your hard work and tell my boss I found them.

  • Title says 1tb but laptop is only 512GB

Fixed, thanks! (I have been staring at a gazillion Dell laptops all day so I am going to just claim my brain is fried this afternoon).

  • Cheaper than this but less storage:

    Which one is better value?

The Dell G15 IMO. The display is 100% sRGB, vs 45% NTSC for the LOQ.

The Dell also has a much bigger battery. But the LOQ has that sweet 140W USB-C PD charging whereas the Dell has no USB charging. But you can get around that with a PD to Dell socket converter.

Solid price with the coupon 👍

  • Just a question, how much battery does it have? Use my current laptop for work and at 100% it says 2hrs 48min or something like that and its not fun skating on thin ice without a charger…

    • I haven't seen a review of this specific variant. But Notebookcheck gets 7 hours of video playback from the less efficient i7 and 4060 model.

I'd think 6 hours of work would be achievable on the Ryzen 7 variant using efficiency mode.

  • This is a great deal

  • You’d almost sacrifice the extreme portability of a Steam Deck for something like this which would far outperform it.

  • Man, this G15 size is massive, the back part so thick

    • Probably to help with cooling

I think this one is a better deal, Intel I feel is a safe bet

    • The LOQ is a very nice laptop but this particular variant has the lesser 45% NTSC display.

The 100% sRGB display on the G15 is worth it IMO. Plus it has a bigger battery, which combined with the Ryzen CPU should give much better battery life. That said, 140W PD charging on the LOQ is great - the G15 has no USB-C charging.

The LOQ has a 115W TGP. As far as I can tell the G15 has a 140W TGP. It will only make for a minor overall performance difference - assuming the cooling performance of each is similar..

  • thanks i was in a market for a gaming laptop with rtx 4060 and the other options ive seen were 2k-2.2k.

This is perfect for what I need.

  • Thanks mate! It is a great price if you have the Amex 10% Dell offer.

  • Hi OP. I'm a bit of a noob with tech. Would this i7 RTX 4050 version be better for intensive gaming? TIA!

Nope. The RTX 4060 in the deal G15 is significantly more powerful than the RTX 4050 in the JB Hi-Fi variant. The one from JB also has a much worse screen.

  • Is this the best deal with gaming laptop under $2k? Anything with higher specs seems to cost an extra 1k or more, is it worth it? i m looking for a new powerful laptop for work and daily use which sometimes includes gaming

    • Pretty much. There are a few other RTX 4060 laptops at this price but IMO the Dell is the best overall mix of features and spec.

It depends on what sort of gaming you want to do though.

If you use the TechRadar Dell coupon then this deal is $2,090. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/848034
Just over $2k but gives you the Dell G16 7630 with a Core i9-13900HX, RTX 4070 and a 2560x1600, 240Hz, 100% DCI-P3 screen. Much nicer to work on IMO.

There are also cheaper RTX 4050 deals if you don't need as much gaming performance.

      • Thanks for the reply, the G16 does look tempting, specially with the RTX 4070.
I dont get to do much gaming tbh with a 3 month old baby but i like the option if i have time.
How would the G15 & G16 compare to the Predator Helios Neo on https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/852655?

        • +1

The Predator has inconsistent screen spec listed from Harvey Norman so it's not clear to me what config it actually is.

          If it's the 100% DCI-P3 240Hz panel, then it's reasonable.

The Dell G16 with the 4070 has Thunderbolt 4 though, which is handy if you want to use with with a dock and extra screens. These are relatively big heavy laptops though - just in case you plan on carrying it to and from work.

As another comparison the RTX 4060 G16 is AU$1,840.41 with the TechRadar coupon and has the 100% DCI-P3 panel. Only 16GB of RAM though but easy enough to upgrade down the track if needed.
