I tried these on a few weeks ago and preferred them to the Sony XM4's & XM5's

Still sour I missed the other deal… now, even though I need another set of headphones I can't bring myself to pay this much.
Did you not have a pair? There is nothing special about Bose QC45, bad mic, poor audio quality compared to Sony XM5.
I have both and I am keeping both, just to keep reminding myself that Bose sucks.
I think QC45 for $164 is a pretty good deal. Excellent sound, excellent mic, leading ANC. All subjective of course but the EXTRA $350 for XM5 ? Nah
Yes, you're right about price. It sucks when people ask you if you're on loud speaker. Maybe something wrong with my pair but I have changed pairs as well, same thing happened on the 2nd one.
Do a side by side comparison by owning both. You'd most probably pick XM5.
@sqheaven: It could be the noise handling, the QuietComfort/SC is considerably better than the QC45/SE: https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/bose-quietco…
think the Sony MX5 for about $350 via ebay refurb promo would be a better deal. Got the XM4 refurbed from Sony a couple of years ago and have not had any issues with them.
I used cash rewards 8% cash back and the price come down to $453.64 ($36.29 rewards)
Not sure these are worth the premium over the SC/SE.
