In other words, no 4K.
Cool story
Not everyone needs 4K, but 1440P is a bit weak from a productivity PoV.
That's precisely why I said no 4K. I just noticed fonts become a lot crispier with 4K even they are smaller and you can fit a lot more in the screen as a result.
I don't think this screen is for gaming or is it?
@burningrage: You'd probably want this resolution at minimum but I don't think I've seen any 34" ultrawides with 4K?
dual 38" would be ideal for me. even at 34", ultrawides are too narrow for my liking, I've been using one since 2015.
@nicolascage: Is that so? I need to check it out. I have been wanting a wide screen monitor for spreadsheet reason. Curve even better because can easier to see corners.
@burningrage: I mean for 34" ultrawide you don't want a lower res than what is on this monitor.
I don't do much spread sheet work, I look at codebases mostly and with my new 32" I can get a better perspective of a larger file. I imagine a 38" would be crazy good.but I find myself needing to refer to 3-5 windows at a time
@nicolascage: Yes. Indeed any lower it would be bad. I might check it out. Maybe it is tolerable. My eyes are not good so monitors with high res would be appreciated (and curved and wide)
Any info on the panel type? Is it IPS or VA?
VA
Great products, pity for their data leak,
spammers now have my ebay details.
There's an Amex 10% Dell cashback deal, not sure if that includes outlet.
What's the quality like on Dell Refurbish?
Bought couple monitors for the business few months back, arrives looks like brand new.
Return is very easy as well.
This one also includes 3 years exchange warranty, so should be fine.
Probably worse than their original products which are terrible. Almost every Dell device i have owned has had serious problems, including their monitors.
I have had the exact opposite experience, where I have not had to deal with their customer service as we have had zero issues with many dell devices at home.
Same here, got a Dell docking station which is just amazing
Used Dell laptops for work in the past and they are solid
@starspawn: I had two dell precision laptop (m3800 and the XPS 15 variant) which had terrible QC issues and needed servicing several times. The m3800 you could not even use on your lap as it would flex so much when typing it would trigger the touchpad. I also had the 4k screen in that machine replaced FOUR times as it kept failing. The XPS15 had peeling soft touch paint, kept crashing every time you closed the lid, and never went to sleep properly causing overheating in my bag.
I had a full HD 27 inch dell monitor which was replaced twice due to loud coil whine buzzing. Now i have a 4k 27" dell monitor that has already been replaced as once in a while the image starts to brightly flicker at a low frequency. Now the replacement has started doing the same thing. Next to that monitor is a LG 27 4k i had for 7 years and it never had a single issue…
@qvinto: Wow, that is one hell of a bad run with Dell products O_O
@qvinto: I’ve had a similar experience with Dell products. Dell Ultrasharp 4K monitor that had peeling coating around the edge of the screen.
Got a replacement from Dell… the replacement had bright spots randomly across the screen.
It went back and ended up getting a replacement with a newer model with USB-C (nice little upgrade).
Got one of their S line 4K monitors in 2022, and it’s already randomly doing this really bright flashes on the screen. Also this monitor won’t do 4K with a MacBook Pro unless you use one of their stupidly expensive Dell branded USB-C hubs.
I gotta say I’ve never had so many issues with one brand of products.
Their saving grace is their customer service and warranty is awesome, and when the products work, they are fantastic.
I have had mixed experience. My 27" 2K Dell monitor has been rock solid for 3+ years.
My XPS 13 died on me - after I didnt use it for 5-6 months during Covid.
Got one of these monitors for parents, great monitor. can auto switch when you plug in a laptop via USB-C and auto KVM switch the monitor/keyboard, very convenient.
