My email says load $250 get $600

    • -1

      Even better :)

    • +3

sorry but to spend $250 on Timezone is insane. Its just not worth it at all.

      • +1

Probs end up spending more than that overtime anyways, a big top up ain't so bad

        • The question is time value of money and if you're going to spend it in next week or month, year, etc…

But hey same logic applies to discounted gift cards. Time to go hunting for timezone compatible ones!

      • Would be great for a kids birthday party (not sure how credits work like that though)

        • I’m pretty sure you can’t use credits for a party but happy to be corrected. Best value I found was to use the discounted gift cards which work at Timezone and stack with promotion like birthday kid is free or the tier bonus for power card members.

Earns relationship brownie points like you wouldn't believe. The girlfriend loves it when we stop by and have a few tries at the claw machines each time we're at the shops, and loves it even more when we win another plushie for her collection.

The $200 credit for $80 deals give you ~70 goes at claw machines, and at the rate we use them, that lasts us just under half a year.

        • claw machines biggest scam ever

          • +2

@nasesco72: Sure is… but when your kid pulls a plush toy out, its all worth it. They get so excited and keep talking about it.

Its hard being OzBargainer and spending money on these ticket machines.

          • +1

@nasesco72: I know mate, but as @jlogic said, if it brings joy to those you love (even if they fail), then it is a small price to pay overall.

          • @nasesco72: Some are rigged but some are easier than others. It varies between machines in same store and can change over time but I’ve had reasonably good success rates after watching a lot and now playing.

          • @nasesco72: Agreed. Way better value to just sit and watch the grass grow.

Each to their own when it comes to this.

        1). I was like you.
2). I changed when I had kids and those kids started hanging out with friend and cousins.
3). Taking them out somewhere like Timezone and seeing them laugh, cry and just generally having fun. The faces they make when they spin a jackpot is awesome.
4). The memories of their emotions and just being kids is priceless.

Sure its indoors etc but there is only so much you can do outdoors in winter or in the evening.

Trust me any free activity for the kids is a good activity, but sometimes you have to pony up to have that experience.

        • -1

Yea I go Timezone (with double credits) to treat the kids on special occasions.
On the flip side, I don’t allow consoles for them at home or they are always asking about playing. So kinda works out for me

        • My elderly mum and aunty enjoy the VR games @ timezone

      • For some people, myself included, $250 for $600 credit is good value if you are consistent at winning jackpots. There are a couple of games that are indeed purely skill based and I can win the jackpot on 1/3 tries on average. If I spam it for 30 minutes or so that will creep up to 1/2 games.

My PS5 cost me about $700 in real dollars (by using double dollar promos) winning jackpots about two years ago. But I also spent hours having fun playing games at Timezone / Kingpin.

        • Jackpots? Which ones? What do you normally win?

          • @Omarko: I personally used to farm the Power Roll machines. They're completely skill based. The paddle resistance seems to be changeable, but must be done manually, so if you can gauge the position of the lever that gets you jackpots, you could keep doing it all day and rake in 10k tickets an hour for machines with high jackpots.

My local Kingpin had 1k jackpots and for a time I would only play Power Roll, Wonka and Wizard of Oz machines (I wanted to collect the cards in the latter two). For a little under $1000 actual money spend, I got 200k tickets. Redeemed for two OLED Switches and sold one of them.

Sadly said Kingpin has gotten wise and nerfed the jackpots, but the skill-based part still holds true, though you would need to spend more money to collect as much tickets now.

          • @Omarko: For me, quick drop is the easiest game to win. Depending on the local settings, the Quick Drop in Joondalup WA I could win 2/3 attempts. The jackpot there resets to 600 tickets and goes up 5 tickets every time you don’t win to a maximum of 1000.

The Quick Drop in Crown at Kingpin is much harder to win on the reset, I usually average 1/3 games for a jackpot but that pays a 1000 ticket minimum on reset.

      • Is if you've got kids. Load it up and do it over weeks.

    • +3

Here is the website for ref: https://www.kingpinplay.com/en-au/activities/arcade/double-d…

Just confirmed with Kingpin via live chat
$250 loads $600 is only valid in kingpin website or kingpin venue

      • Worked for me by logging into my account portal via the kingpin website. Topped up $250 to get bonus $350 added to my Timezone power card. Ie total $600 added.

  • First time doing this.. I downloaded the app but do I need to go in person to purchase a powercard first?

    • +2

I dont think you can get a powercard via the app, so yes you have to go in person and get one at the kiosk thing, then you can link the app to your card.

    • +1

Yea I had to go in and get the cards. Then could load them up on the app. Great gift idea for nephews, nieces etc

  • +2

is the $80 deal back on again ? that was a good deal to take kids out for bit of fun once a year.

    • +1

      We're due for one.

    • +4

That deal has ruined me, regular double dollars just doesn't cut it anymore

  • Does anyone know if you can load up on gift card to redeem promos?

    • i do this, but you need to load the card in person. Couldn't do it through the app last time for the gift cards i used.

    • You can use gift cards but you can only redeem them instore.

    • Where are people buying (discounted) Timezone gift cards these days? Costco at least in Melbourne have discontinued them

      • +4

I think a lot of people gravitate towards Ultimate or TCN gift cards, as those gift cards featuring Timezone as participating retailers regularly go on sale (whether with an upfront discount, bonus loyalty program points or bonus value loaded onto the gift card).

For example, Coles is selling 10% off selected Ultimate gift cards starting tomorrow. Four of the five Ultimate gift cards in this deal feature Timezone as a participating retailer.

        • +1

This. I used them for my kids birthday party.

      • Reward Gateway members have 5% off.

  • +1

do any aussie arcades have sf6

    • +5

Sulphur Hexafluoride? I don’t see why they would

      • +4

dont give up your day job professor

    • +3

I wish. The days of Street Fighter in arcades is sadly gone. If they did, I'd be dragging my kids to Timezone and not the other way around.

      • bummer. hardly ever see any fighting games at all at any arcades :(

        • +2

          I feel your pain.

      • HAHA… I would be the same.

It was great putting your "marker" for the next turn on the cabinet or the player allowing challengers and then proceeding to clean the floor with you, was the best experience. Back then the arcades were more dingier than they are these days.

For those in Perth… remember Orbit?

      • Lucky & sons in melbourne Central still have street fighter.

        • +2

I'll check it out in a couple of weeks when I'm in Melbourne.

  • Does anyone remember a 4 player shooter (x2 big TVs placed side by side to form one wide pov, x4 ir blasters dressed as rifles), set in WW2 but with zombies? They had that at townhall galaxy world (Sydney CBD) around 2001-2004, but I cannot find the name/game. Help?

    • +1
      • Skeletons, not zombies lol you still found it, fml you're a gun! Searched high and low and could never find it

        • +1

          Game is called Warzaid :)

  • i keep putting money on my card when these deals come up, now i have $700 on a card i barely use :(

    • +1

Yes but think of the hundreds of $$ you saved!

      • true, i just need to throw a party and just swipe like crazy for everyone. lol

  • +4

For the ppl that saw $250 for $600 as a great deal, just be aware that percentage wise, it is worse than $80 for $200.

    • Yeah need to wait for that to happen it only happened once afaik

  • I can load recharge 60 dollars twice and get 120 twice, right? Or just only one redeem

  • -3

Definitely something fishy…close to bankruptcy imo

    • doesn't look like it, they are opening new locations - looks like there is some money to be made in this niche, never thought much of it before

    • +1

Hadn't been to TZ Before but went a couple of times. Absolutely packed everytime. Doesn't look like it's going out of business but you never know I guess

  • Can you use the powercards to pay for non-arcade game activities at its affiliate stores? E.g. bowling, laser tag, bumper cars, escape room, VR etc?

  • For those with gold cards. Ensure you recharge at the venue that you want the free yellow game per day

    Recharge via app doesn't count

Every 90 days you need to recharge once at the venue to be considered as free yellow game bonus
