Note that the Ally X has been announced. Whether it's worth the upgrade is one thing but the price of the Ally should drop.
You could buy two of these. Same APU. Bigger battery maybe the main draw.
More ram and bigger SSD I think. One would also hope the issues with the original Ally would be resolved in the X, such as the SD card reader, but then again they should have resolved the issue on the Ally itself rather than to fix it in a new model.
Not worth an extra $800 for the new one. The RRP of the X is bs.
From reddit it sounds like the warranty on these is worthless because ASUS refuses to fix anything. E.g. people reporting their SD card slots break after a few months and ASUS gives them the run-around. I guess that's the risk with buying one of these

I had my Australian Ally fixed under warranty (microSD failure). I got it back within 2 weeks. No upsell but some convoluted emails.

How's the SD card been so far since you got it back from warranty?
My microSD card is still accessible but I run games exclusively from the SSD.

They fixed mine in under a week. Asus Australia seems to be better.
I have no experience with Asus Australia, but I would preface this with it is based on Asus USA, and that the reputation in other countries could differ.

Running Ghost of Tsuhima at 60fps medium/high detail looks incredible on the deck.
Or just get this or any other handheld that is sold in Australia by the manufacturer and not grey-imported.

If you can deal with the size, a good buy. For me the ROG is basically I think the absolute max I could go (even then it is bigger than i'd like).

Is the warranty really that bad for ASUS Aus? I am wondering if I should get this one or brand new Ally with price match in JB, ally x got around pretty much $500 of gaps which I think it is bit too much.
