Note: Slow down! non OLED
As a reminder, you can simply crack these open and put larger storage in them.
While the 64gb model has slower speed than the 256gb, I play basically all my games other than f04 off of a basic sandisk 1tb card and haven’t had any issues. (I do have the 256gb model and found no need to bother with hd upgrade )
But do you play games besides balatro?
Yeah, fallout 4 as per the post lol
Also did resident evil 4 remake start to finish three times. Went great off sd card.RE4 is the new Doom. They'll make it run on everything. Soon you can play it on your toaster.
Jokes aside, I've finished this on the Wii and PC. Best RE game imo.
@BadGiraffe: Growing up we didn’t have much money for games and had only very limited access to dial up internet. I played and finished re4 on ps2 sooooo many times.
We're balatro guys, of course we buy a oled steam deck just to play balatro.
I’ll wait for next gen to upgrad. Yes the oled screen for blacks is gorgeous but even I think it’s a bit wasteful
when you say slower speed, do you mean the SSD in the 64gb model is a slower SSD than the one in the 256g model?
Yeah but I mean heaps of people on reddit report no real world noticeable issues
Nice
I mean the OLED 512 was 899 a few weeks back (and I now own one).
As someone who owned the LED version originally but returned it because I wasn't impressed, the OLED is a HUGE improvement and I actually will be keeping it.
I don't know if it's just the OLED screen (or games have become more optimised for the deck since I had the LED) but it's genuinely impressive being able to run Ghost of Tsushima at 60 fps (with some tinkering) and it still look great.
Somehow they've even got Cyberpunk running decently on this thing as well.
But does it run Doom?
That was a special promo price. I think ~$999 is more realistic.
not a cent under $900
To be fair I think 899 is just retail / base import cos for the model. Which I was happy to pay
These are consistently in the mid $600s and second hand for $550~, so paying $700+ feels like a lot especially when every dollar you save is another potential game you could pick up to run on it.
I paid like 580 for mine new and that was before the OLED came out. This is not a bargain IMO.
512GB Model with "etched" screen.
