"Building Set for Adults,Birthday Toy or Special Treat for Fans" - $844 birthday toy lolol

    • Why is that funny?

I feel sad for the significant people in your life.

@Tacenda: In my books a birthday present is $50-$200 depending on the person. I've never given nor received a gift even remotely close to that amount before.

            • @Mondorock: So, if it doesn't happen to you, it doesn't happen for anyone? I know people who got Rolexes, cruise tickets, and a car for a birthday.

@SydStrand: I never said it never happened to anyone before. But that doesn't mean I can't laugh about it.

@Mondorock: What about group gifts? 4 friends/family members could put 200 a pop each and get this for a die hard fan.

                • @Mondorock: Your comment was literal incredulity that someone would spend more than $800 on a birthday present. People replied that they have witnessed or given much more than that on presents. Now you claim that you never said it didn't happen. Pick a position.

          Err a lot of people?

        • I bought myself a Bombtrack Beyond 1 for my Birthday only 2 & 1/4

    • Although bit on the high end. It's on the level of gift your kid a PS5 or gaming PC.

*not arguing which is the 'better value' though.

      • +1

Lets look at it this way. In 5 years the PS5 would have decreased in value where this would hold or increase its value :)

        • Noooo, don't spill the beans. lmao

When I was a kid, the gift of a console (NES/SNES/N64) was given to both me and my brother, so it didn't count as a single gift to just one person. I think any kid that gets a $700 PS5 birthday present is pretty spoiled.

        • Get where you're coming from, a PS5 would be a special gift for sure. From memory the N64 launched at $400 back in 97. Which is line with a $700 console when you factor inflation, etc.

  • Looked like the price is down. no worth to investing.
and no room to display if you try to collect all the battleships in Star war.

  • I wish that gringotts bank set would go on sale somewhere for once.

    • AG Lego had it for $505 a few months ago. $487 after cashback.

      Harry Potter Gringotts Bank 76417 $629.99 26/04/2024 $504.99 AG Lego Chermside / SB $17.67 $487.32 77.35% No

      • That’s a good price. Bummer I missed it.

It might be possible to get this for sub $800. I'm just not sure about the bonus 2% cashback, as the GYB rep has recently said 0% categories don't count for bonus St. George cashback. Buy I'm not convinced as it used to work (still waiting for recent transactions to be approved).

    $840 Amazon GC @ 5% discount = $42 discount: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15332283/redir

Pay remainder $4.99 on STG card, giving 2% ($15.45 cashback on $849.99 total purchase).

    $849.99 - $42 - $15.45 = $792.54
