Just saw this on Scorptec.
Pretty sure this is comfortably an all time low for GRE, probably the best value card for the money currently.

Just answered my own question, seems the GRE draws around ~75W less than the 6950XT! Plus the advantage of the newer platform for driver support. Great deal OP.
The GRE will be slightly better for RT but not by that much - but if it's only $10 difference then it seems sensible to go for the latest. Also, I've read the GRE overclocks well, so you can probably wring some "free" FPS out of it with a bit of tuning.
But if RT is a big driver for your decision, you might be better off stumping up another hundred and get a 4070 super, because you'll get about 25% better RT than the GRE for only 10-15% more $. You'll also get DLSS as an option which is more widely supported than FSR (and arguably looks better, according to review).
The 6950XT is slightly more powerful according to passmark, but draws more power.

Very similar raw performance, they don't directly compare 7900GRE and 6950XTl, but both is 9% faster than 6900xt in 1440p here

But 7900GRE consume less power (gaming 289w vs 381w), better RT performance (Nvidia still better), i will get 6950xt only if it is around $90 cheaper.
Is it a real price? I think it is the new white version with detachable magnetic fans, should be more expensive than the black one. It just launched in China and has slightly higher price than the black version.

Any info on how well this card does on VR, compared to nvidia (~3080ti/~4070ti)?
Tried a search? It's basically the same card as the 7900 XT, just a bit slower
as far as i'm aware it's best to stick with Nvidia for VR, haven't heard anything on AMD's new GPU's making any inroads to being viable for VR. I don't think AMD see the VR market as worth concentrating on as it's a fairly niche segment.

Everyone is pretty quick to stick with the old "NVIDIA ftw" rhetoric, when I wouldn't be surprised if AMD x265/AV1 encoders haven't caught up yet (with a few config tweaks)
Nice video. I use a Reverb G2, so there is no encoding used. Currently running on a 3080 12GB which is doing "just ok" with tweaks.
I plan to upgrade to Pimax Crystal Light, which has a much higher native resolution (1.777 times more pixels), so any GPU upgrade that doesn't break the bank would be welcome.

Its not 100%. Im going off the model number compared to other cards. Majority of cards that have a colour variant have it in the model name. This is a
RX-79GMAIRW9.
Compare it to a similar card - RX-79GMERCB9 ( which is black ).
I assume the RX-79G is series. MAIR stands for Magair. And the last two would indicate type and colour in most cases.

I said "I'm assuming"… I was not trying to infer it as statement of fact regarding embargo, rather an educated guess.
As I have worked for retailers and purchased inventory for myself via distributors I have seen on the odd occasion where products have been advertised whilst still under embargo.
As there was absolutely no information online that I could find at the time regarding the SKU I made an assumption.
