  • Is it better than TP link Deco X50?

I have the Asus RT-AX56U right now, could I add these 2 via aimesh to extend my network?

    • Came here to ask the exact same question, have the exact same router

I am using two in ai mesh with a GT-AX6000.
It works well now, it was a bit hit and miss when using Wi-Fi back haul but it is a double brick house. I now have Ethernet back haul and it works well.
Also have Merlin on the main router and stock on the XD4

    • @deisou did you considering getting this

      Also have an Asus ….

@db2k Nah, I didn't think this aimesh thing was a open/universal standard so it wouldn't work between different brands of routers. I could be wrong, but figured to play it safe I would only consider another asus router to use with their aimesh.

I'm on HFC NBN. Can I just plug this into the black HFC box and be up and running? (Planning on joining leaptel). Thanks

    • +1

Yep, HFC is plug and play. Good choice on the provider, I'm very happy with them.
I'm still using the router on this deal otherwise I would have purchased one: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/792288
It handles a family of 4 with heavy streaming without a problem. I just can't see why anyone would need a mesh router more expensive than this.

      NBN Compatibility
      FTTC, FTTP, HFC, UFB

Yeah plugin the Asus router to the HFC NTD and configure the Asus WAN type to automatic IP.

  • Hi all :)
I am using an Asus RT-AC86U Router

    what im wondering is
    a. "Should" i use this as my primary if i were to get this deal.
    b. if the above is yes, can it play nice with AIMesh. (i know it does, but its quite old and so it might cause issues?)

or should i just get the new tech, itll work better sort of thing.

    cheers!

link to hardware that i have.

  • Quick word of warning, make sure you call the store before going in. A lot of stores around me are showing 1 in stock however they’ve been returned. I decided to bite because the Netgear app is abysmal and software support with ASUS trumps Netgear. Much nicer looking unit as well. Thanks OP!
