Maybe I'm just out of the loop, but it's great that you can pick up something like this monitor for this price now. Just 2 years ago (during the pandemic and everyone working from home), it was a struggle to even get a 27" VA 75hz 1080p monitor for under $200.

it's a deal. Wonder how bright it is and the color.
    250 nits, 72% NTSC

Cheers, ordered one for WFH setup

  • I'm out of the loop but would this be decent for editing photos, good colours etc?

    • -1

      Not really

      • Mm my current monitor is a dell ultrasharp but it's 11 years old

        • +1

The monitor in this deal is sold in Target in the US, i.e. it's a budget consumer model. It's probably a decent upgrade from what you have and I'm sure it would be fine for amateur photo work, but it's a long way from colour accuracy these days.

        • Im in the same boat and am a spatial analyst - need to look at replacing the dell, just died on me after years of service.

          • @grimo82: We're all replacing ancient Dells! Scroll down and I've posted that I've bought one to replace a 16-year-old Dell.

  • For WFH, been looking to upgrade from two 1080p 24" Lenovo monitors purchased at the start of covid.

Would this be a decent option? I already have a dual monitor arm.

    • +3

I jumped around monitors a LOT, just for me personally (YMMV) but:

      24" - 1080p
      27" - 2K
      32" - 4K
      (not referring ultra-wides)

Those resolutions really work for my eyesight. 4K on sub-32" just seems to stress out the machine powering it for no added fidelity. 1080p on a 27" or larger I can't un-see the pixels.

      • +1

        2K is basically 1080p, no?

        • 2k is 1440p.

          • -2

            @boxall: 2k is not qhd

            ROM is not storage

            • +1

@Sinnerator: Confused by your comment. 2k is QHD.

No idea what your ROM comment was.

        • Only If you believe 720p is basically 1080p

      • Agree 100%.

  • For the OzBargain guru's out there, is there a similar monitor but with speakers?

I'm now in the market for x2 of these for the kids but we have extremely limited desk space so in-built speakers are a must (it's OK the sound is garbage, the kids can use headphones when it matters).

    • why do you need speakers if you're just going to use headphones? genuine question

If you're really hard pressed for speakers… get a bluetooth dongle for your pc if it doesn't already have bluetooth and connect a bluetooth speaker to it.

      • Thanks for your thoughts! Actually a little speaker puck of some kind connected and sitting on top of the PC would be totally fine.

The reason they need both is they use both. When watching YouTube or doing school work they don't really need amazing sound, putting on headphones and blocking out the world is a pain. However when they want to experience a good game or movie they have headphones - which is why I mentioned it didn't matter if the monitor speakers were poor.

Each to their own of course! :-) Peace

    Cashrewards has 4.2% cashback

  • Thanks team. Bought one and entered via Cashrewards. Will use mounted on my garage wall for indoor cycling app Zwift. The 16-year-old Dell 2408WFP that was doing the job (via HDMI-to-DVI adapter) has developed undulations in the screen like a crinkle-cut potato chip and needs to go. It will be nice to upgrade from 1920 x 1200.

Still using my 17 year old Dell Ultrasharp 2407 on one of my computers from a Whirlpool group buy. Cost me $800 in 2007!

      • +1

Ahhh you've just made me realise mine is a 2407 too. It's so long ago I couldn't remember the name. And it's 17 years old, from 2007 too. Technically it still works, but it's developed ripples in the screen and it looks pretty washed out.

        • +1

Good on you for using old IT hardware for so long!

    • This one because the other offer you linked has expired :)

  • If it had a DVI or another HDMI would have grabbed it.

  • +1

Just 1 HDMI and VGA in 2024?

    • +1

The acer product page is a a bit unclear. One section (and the product picture) says vga and hdmi. However lower down the page under product specifications it suggests it is HDMI and Display Port.

      Does anyone know for sure?

      • The image shows HDMI and VGA. Mine is currently in transit so I'll update when I receive it. But HDMI is enough for 100Hz so it shouldn't matter that there's no DisplayPort. Having a VGA port is ridiculous, but the price was good.

  • payment portal not working :(

  • +6

I ordered from this deal and the unit that arrived had 2 x hdmi, 1 display port and 3.5 mm audio out. No VGA port. The monitor also supports HDR.

    • +2

      Now it’s a bargain!!!!

    • +2

I received the same today ^_^

      • +1

Also received same today. It's running well in HDR 1440p at 100Hz over HDMI (I haven't dug out a DisplayPort cable yet). Monitor also has some tinny internal speakers.

        • Does it use an external power supply?

          • +1

@kiitos: No, just a short power lead.

            • +2

@Morven: Mine came with a 4.5 mm type plug with a short lead to a power cube.

              • +1

@Ozyow: Oh sorry yes the power plug is the power cube

        • +1

Ahh peanuts! The only reason I didn't order was because I didn't think it had speakers :-( The kids gaming rigs will need to wait until the next special :-) Thanks for the feedback.

          • @Erasmuz: For what it's worth, before this I was using a $30 Bluetooth speaker that sat on top of my old monitor. Sounded better than the internal speakers in the new monitor, but I've discarded the Bluetooth one for now because I'm just using this rig for Zwift so sound quality doesn't matter, and this monitor is too slimline to have the speaker sit on top. But if you have monitors without speakers, you can always do something like what I did.
