wasnt this posted a couple of weeks ago?

    • Yes, but there were no free results, had to pay. This time round, it looks like you'll get some results for free, must still pay for full results though.

      • +1

Hmmm, maybe but I'd like confirmation as that sentence is worded sneakily. From the looks of it, only the kit and reply postage paid is for free (which it is to anyone already).

A discount of 9.1% is given to you via this code.

Rep, what do you mean by selection? I think that this is important as the general feel is that this is not much of a deal. What percentage of results would we get to preview/what is their importance with respect to the rest of the report?

        • The free results include
          Water contamination
Contamination of an oil based lubricant by water can damage the metal-to-metal surfaces that the lubricant is designed to protect. The local frictional effects within the lubrication system be it hydraulic, engine, transmission etc, can cause temperatures in excess of the boiling point of water which would in effect cause steam cleaning of the oil away from the surfaces. The boiling of the water or moisture can also promote oxidation in the oil and be blamed for corrosion and poor lubrication on the metal surfaces. Moisture can be sourced from the atmosphere when the compartment is cooling down, engine blow by gasses and coolant leaks.

          Oxidation
Oxidation and nitration values in new oils reflect the presence of additives and base oil compositions.

          Calcium
Calcium as calcium petroleum sulfonate is a detergent. It cleans carbon deposits from engines and acts as a corrosion inhibitor and dispersant.

          Lead
Lead is a very soft metal used in alloys in combination with tin for engine bearings and bushings. Lead is present in hydraulic pump alloys as well. Highly oxidized engine oils attack bearing material, which increases lead readings.

  • I should mention that we can only offer deal to the first 1000 respondents as we have limited stock.

    Blood test for cars

  • Put in a lodgement, will be good to see how the bikes motor is going.

  • When you order please ensure that your email address is correct as while the kit is obviously delivered to your physical address the results and recommendations and any other notifications in relation to your kit are emailed to this address. Thanks

  • Just curious, as a result of your previous deal, how many OzBargainers took up the offer?

  • +3

foobar the response on the previous offer was a little disappointing as we only had a take up of around 30.

  • wth. error message.

  • Shame - sounds like a great deal :)

  • How do I order more than 1 kit?

  • -1

Doesnt sound all that great to me……..like it costs $3.45 more if u dont type in the code for the full report along with recommendations when the analysis is complete…so what are the part results sent? sounds annoying to do if its not the full test~

    • +10

Our analysis indicates that your car engine has serious issues with ….

Please pay the full fee of $35 for the complete report.

  • +3

WOW, NORMAL PRICE IS $38.50, for OzBargainers its $35! NOW THATS A BARGAIN!! NOT!!

    • +4

      That's a little extreme, mate.

      • +4

I disagree. This isn't really a bargain as far as I can tell. Yes, there is a slight discount, but nothing here to really sell this service. You get a free limited sample report, but no where on their site is a sample report to be seen so we can gauge for ourselves what a report looks like and if the service is worth it. Nothing in this bargain makes me want to rush out and get an oil analysis done on my car as their isn't enough info on what they analyse (in laymans terms and not jargon).

I own a 91 mr2. I love my car and do most work myself. I would love to know what is going on inside, but their website just doesn't really tell me. What the hell is FTIR and how is it important to me and my car? I know my car is old and has wear and tear (http://www.roktex.com.au/whatIsTested).

        • +4

If my chem major has taught me anything, i think Fourier Transform Infrared can be used to detect what's in your fart, if coupled with gas chromatography.
These car blokes are probably looking for burnt organic material in your oil, or if you've farted down the oil line.

        • +1

          LMFAO down the oil line

        • and you have found my party trick!dang

  • +1

Whaddya do with the analysis? "Analysis reveals that your engine is rooted." Then what?

    • Then you buy a new car.

    • Put a hotted-up motor in it (as long as it's not an Excel or Barina, lol).

    • +1

      sell it

  • whoops i forgot to put OZB in referral field

  • tomee send an email to [email protected] notifying us of your error and we will ensure that your order is amended appropriately.

shaybisc - there are many reasons why your analysis may not come out clean. Some as simple as changing an oil filter for high silicon readings (i.e indicative of dirt) or giving your engine a decent long run if you are getting high levels of fuel dilution from excessive blow by gases at startup etc, etc!

worst free sample ever, tasted HORRIBLE

30 sales for what is a specialized and niche service is pretty good in my books, for a general sales forum where everything from nappies to computer parts to whitegoods is sold, if this were a motor/bike forum of course there would be more interest but considering the ad is free you're doing ok!
but rep, you should make offer clearer, "You will not pay a cent to get a selection of the laboratory analysis sent to you via email" but on second page step 3 "we will email your report to you when your results are ready and payment of $38.50 has been received" is the free offer just for the sample kit, or a discount off normal report cost, or a free but reduced analysis? and yes i used the referral code

    • morpheu as well as a free kit the deal also gets you a discount of the full results. The free results include

      • Water contamination

      I hope this clarifies.

Is it okay to sign up and not submit the sample in 6 months or so?

I just did a oil change recently and have another 4500km left for next oil change.

Currently switched to Diesel oil for my sports car to clean it out a little bit. Would be curious to see whats going on in number terms.

I assume its best to take a sample just before the next change interval, to maximise the time of oil interaction.

    • I wondered that too - going away in a few weeks & don't want to be reading through the reports while away, but interested when I get back.

    • But as you put diesel oil in it won't this cloud the results ? diesel oil having more detergents the report will show more contaminants in the oil, which i just told you for free.

      • I dont think it matters that much, its not like additional contaminants are coming out from no where. Might be higher concentrations of them. Im actually interested in metal wear, dont think the diesel oil Im using has any protective zinc additives. Would be good to compare diesel oil with my regular petrol only oil. Since theres lots of theories around.

  • There has been a great response to this deal and we are giving priority to those people who have responded to our follow up email requesting further information so please check your inbox for this email.

The email was sent from [email protected]

    Thanks.

  • Really? I for one have backed away from this since not getting a reply to my question early on in the thread, and also reading all the negative comments about the deal… Still willing to give it a shot though, pending a response. Surely it would be necessary to have a couple of tests run after trying different oils, additives, etc.

    • highon2str. Yes the response has been fantastic with comments overwhelmingly positive. There have, of course, been queries on how the process works which is understandable as the process is reasonably technical. It should be noted however that the recommendations from the lab technicians based on the detailed results are easy to understand and not overly technical.

With regard to the second part of your question the tests performed distinguish between additive elements, wear elements and contaminants. Wear and contamination will therefore be picked up in any oil if present.

  • We have had a lot of questions about how much oil is required. You will only need to extract 80ml of oil using the kit to send off to the laboratory for testing.

  • Further to comment above the test does not need to be performed at oil change. The kit allows you to take and 80ml sample through the dipstick of your engine just follow the instructions.

Again note we recommend you've travelled at least two thousand kms on your oil.

  • Note the offer expires today.

For those of you that have ordered kits if you have any further queries you can email them to [email protected]

    Thank you.

  • i received it today - do i have to send back the oil sample? i dont want to

    • +1

You shouldn't have asked for it then. ;)

      • +1

yeah i know… - will anything happen if i dont send it back?

    • Hi, you are under no obligation to use the kit.

Obviously we are unable to offer you any further value if you don't send in a sample.

You are welcome to hand it over to someone who will benefit just ask them to email us to confirm the details.

Failing that we would be grateful if you could send it back to us using the prepaid envelope enclosed with the kit.

Email [email protected] for any further queries

      • +1

thanks for the reply mate - yes I will ask me mates if they want to give it a shot - if not I'll send it back right away - Is that alright?

  • No problem.

  • Almost a month since they received the oil sample and it is still "queued for processing" even though the description states "The analysis takes up to 48hours" . It was more of a publicity stunt than a genuine offer. Revoking my vote.

    • I can't even check mine, I only get "internal error"
Also sent about a month ago, and they are just around the corner from where I live.

      • MtlOz have you been able to view your report yet? If not could you retry and email [email protected] if you are still experiencing problems.

  • auscars mate - have you received my sample that I shipped back to you?
