Sole Mio Extra Virgin Olive Oil - 5 litres for $10

Expiry is in 2014. They had at least 12 bottles of the stuff on the shelf. It was on special a month ago $20 (50% off) so it must usually be $40.

Spotted this today at Coles - West End Plaza (Spencer Street Mebourne next to Southern Cross station).

Can't upload photo at work - see what I can do tonight.

  • Good price though $40 is a rather inflated price particularly given that this is not a normal line Coles run and has never been sold for that price.

  • You've got my vote. I'd be happy with that price.

  • I umm'd & ahh'd about this stuff when I saw it for $12, now I think for a flat tenner I'm willing to take the punt! Cheers OP! :)

  • Is it actually any good?
    does it taste nice?

    is it fresh you think?

  • i hope i can get it at NewFarm store for $10.00. cant go wrong for that price. Will let you know if i manage to get one.

There are atleast 10 left at Coles NewFarm, QLD. There is no reduced sticker so my guess they would still be there tomorrow as well. Thanks for the post.

      verdict on the oil — 3 /10

  • Got one. Thanks for the tip-off. They were not in the oil section of the supermarket but I saw a guy with 4 bottles in his trolley.

Anyone know where this olive oil comes from? Don't forget that many Spanish, Greek and Italian olive oils were either "not" olive oil, or were sold rancid … if you don't know what rancid means, let's just say it's REALLY, REALLY bad for you (read: HIGHLY TOXIC).

Here's one of the many articles about dodgy olive oils,
    http://au.news.yahoo.com/today-tonight/article/-/9882492/oil…

I won't touch Italian or Greek or Spanish olive oils again, even at $1 a litre - because of the number of unethical importers. All they have to do is change the brand name and continue the same games. This scam has gone on for years.

I don't know if Sole Mio is good or bad olive oil. Caveat Emptor.

    • Well this one's imported, packaged and distributed by Vetta who are on the Choice bad-list, so we can presumably say this one is bad!!!

      • Just Bought 2 from Coles New Farm. Verdict 3/10

        • Yeah 3/10 for me too

      • why Choice? whats Vetta done?

        • Read the Yahoo link above dude

    • DeWalt, what oil would you recommend buying? I usually buy the normal olive oil or rice bran oil.

      • I steered clear of this of this one but thought someone may be interested.

I usually get Australian extra virgin Olive Oil from Aldi in the 3L tin - about $18-$20 and find it pretty good.
