If it's $128 why does title say $159?

The Logitech MX Keys S is a newer version of the Logitech MX Keys. The MX Keys S only has minor physical differences in its shortcuts on the F-row. It also has an auto-brightness feature that adjusts the backlighting according to your environment, and it provides more options for customizing the backlighting using the software, while the older MX Keys only allows you to toggle the lighting on or off. The other major difference is that the MX Keys S connects wirelessly via Bluetooth or with the Logi BOLT receiver. In contrast, the older MX Keys connects wirelessly via Bluetooth or the Logitech Unifying Receiver.

    • My MX keys (non-s) can only be connected via Bluetooth, does not work with the unifying receiver.

  • Any deals on the white version?

How do these type compared to mechanical keyboards?

    • +5

Well it's not mechanical, so it obviously very different. Much the same as a laptop keyboard. I personally prefer this type of keyboard over clicky clacky mech keyboards, but each to their own. If you prefer mechanical keyboards this probably isn't for you. Look at the MX Mechanical instead.

Picked up one of these at the beginning of the year to replace my old k375 that was failing. Really nice build quality. Really nice to type on if you like membrane keyboards. I wouldn't pay $229 for one, but definitely worth $150.

  • I wonder if the "S" version has a better auto-backlight feature than the OG version of MX Keys.

I've had THREE MX Keys and my daughter also has one and all four have issues where the auto backlight keeps turning itself on when no one is anywhere near it - this drains the battery much quicker than it should. Seems like many other users have had the same issue.

    • The backlight on my S version works well.

      • How long have you had it?

This issue only seems to appear after a few months.

    • Yeah my non S had the same issue.
Lately it seems it's backlight is completely dead.. But I'm still investigating…. At my home desk

My daily is the S model at my office.. No issues

      • Sounds like the S has fixed that issue. It'll be a while before I buy one though as I managed to get logitech to replace my faulty non-S with another one (that eventually developed the same issue), so now I have spare. The keyboard is great other than having to charge more often than I should need to.
