    $65 cashback at shopback

    • Thanks, I was not aware!

      • quick, post a new deal with the shopback price and link and delete this deal

        • Thanks, I tried to but it did not allow me for some reason - "duplicate"
I updated this deal to combine both CR and SB offers - of course the SB $65 cashback is far superior! :)

I think SB price beat after this post was up 🤣

        • nah i saw it yesterday at SB for that cashback amount

All I want it for is 1 user, to stream free to air AFL around the house. Any owners can confirm if this works or any drawbacks?

    • If using the FTA internet streams rather than an antenna, I'd double check they have the rights to stream the games.

      • I'm using an antenna

        • If you are asking whether this has a FTA antenna input, yes it does.

As for drawbacks… There are many. Happy to answer any specific questions about the device.

People who are buying this, why are you doing so? Genuinely curious. What advantage does this device have over a firestick or Google TV device?

    • One advantage maybe that the hubbl device may just work. I habe an Apple TV and while it was possible to get Binge and news 24, foxtel now app was not available. So maybe this is the advantge.

      • No foxtel now or go on Hubbl.

I thought it was mainly for
      - those who don't have a TV antenna/aerial port: watch free-to-air TV via Hubbl device
      - those who have multiple paid subscriptions (save $5 per month for 3 subscriptions, save $10 per month for 4 subscriptions) etc.
      https://hubbl.com.au/subscriptions

      • Won't the subscription be tied to just this one device then? Unlike others where individual subscriptions can be used across multiple devices?

        • Not quite. Hubbl aggregates the accounts and payments in the one place but the accounts can be logged into other devices. Some restrictions I am aware of are:

          (a) can't use Netflix "additional homes"
          (b) Binge and Kayo must be on the same account
          (c) no Stan, Optus, Paramount yet.

@sinners007: Ok. So it has some benefit for people who pay for multiple steaming services then.

For those who just use Stremio + Real Debrid to access pretty much any media content this have much value except for free to air TV I guess

            • +1

@0FoxGiven: The discount for multiple subs is very limited… It's the 4 foxtel subs and Netflix only. You won't get a discount if you add Disney for example.

    • I was given mine. The main advantage it has is FTA TV from your antenna, plus the FTA channels are tied into the undemand streaming content from the TV networks with the guide function.
You could do a similar job with the Freeview app and the TV channels own iptv apps, but it would be a little clunky whereas this pretty much works straight out of the box, (if you have your FTA accounts set-up already).

Google TV has basically the same launcher style as foxtel/hubbl with their paid content front and centre. You can't disable it or replace the launcher in either case. Both are pretty quick, but the remote with hubbl is a bit more solid and smoother to select.
Downside is really you can't add/sideload your own apks, unlike Google.

it's Foxtel's answer to Fetch, but 5yrs too late.

  • +5

Nope, not even worth $34 IMO

Hobbl is a failed product. It will eventually be given away for free and then eventually exited.

    • I was wondering what was the benefit of Hubbl, thinking of getting one for a smart TV that does not have an antenna/aerial port close by

      • Hubbl will stream FTA channels. Of course there are content restrictions with streaming channels. It does a reasonable job in this respect, albeit slow to change channels and in some cases/channels, you don't get the local version.

      • +1

Nah. Dont. I got one half price offer and thought id have a play with it. It’s gimped. Go get a fire stick or google TV. As TomGum said, it’s likely a failure of a product.

        • OK sounds good, maybe TCL or FFalcon smart TVs (that have Google TV) would suffice then

  • +1

I got mine for free and dont use it

The Hubbl is a poor device. The idea is good but the execution is awful. If you're interested in this device, I'd suggest heading over the the Hubbl thread at the Whirlpool Forums for user reviews/issues.

I would not recommend it at any price.

    • +1

Second this. The FTA antenna hookup looks like its point of difference over a firestick etc, but It cant even DVR! So its a set top box, too late.

  • +2

There must a reason they're offering a 66% cashback discount only 8 weeks after release, failing already it seems

    • +3

Even with those douchebag "comedians" relentlessly shilling it…though I am unsurprised it's not resonating, for a number of reasons.

  • +1

The tv ad with Hamish and Andy singing and dancing to LMFAO music and reworked lyrics into a jingle is awful.

No, not everyone is Hubbl'in', or wants to.

    • +1

Indeed, it seems very few people are "Hubbl'in".

  • great way to overcomplicate streaming while pretending it makes it all easier.
im kind of sick of all these additional things that go over the top

    • +1

If it incorporated all of them, and offered a slight discount for 'bundling' it would work; similar to what optus offers.

But so long as even one of the popular streaming services are missing, its as you said, another layer of complication.

Should have delayed the idea until every service was onboard and scrapped it if more than 1 held out.

  • LOL, Hubbl must be selling really well for them

  • The only thing I'd recommend the Hubbl for is streaming FTA channels without an aerial and having access to an EPG, out of the box. Adding a $10 Basic Binge sub would top that off with an extra 35 Foxtel channels.

This can be also achieved using Kodi on an Android device, but requires some set up.

Otherwise, the Hubbl does everything else worse than a Fire Stick or Google TV.

Kayo is an abomination on Hubbl. No multi screen. Extra ads when viewing on-demand content.

    • Even if the TV did not have an aerial/antenna port - would it be "easy" to stream FTA channels?
E.g. if wanted to watch 7, 9, 10, ABC, SBS - do you need to have an 'account' with each of those providers - ABC iView, SBS onDemand etc.?

      • +1

With Hubbl you do need an account for each FTA provider to stream the channels "live".
        With Android/Kodi you do not.

        • thx, that's annoying
