  • Before you sign, compare coverage. For example, I live in a marginal area and get better cover with Vodaphone than Optus, but no 5G.

    • Catch only supports 4G anyway :(

    • Don't forget that it's a mobile service, so use a wide range

    • +1

Well hopefully thats the first thing you do.
Optus (Catch) generally has better coverage than Vodafone (Kogan), especially outside metropolitan areas.
But as you say, depends where you live and where you travel.

If Optus coverage suits you then this is a great deal and probably the last final chance to get on board with one of these Low Budget 60GB 365 day plans

      • Last chance? What's happening to them?

        • All the long 60gig plans are disappearing

          • -1

            @thedavemiester: Disappearing?

            More like gone/
This is one of the last 2 and gone in July. .
See in the CatchConnect fine print:
"This product will no longer be available to purchase after 02/07/2024."

After this you will only be able to get the Kogan Small 120GB 365 day plan but that runs on the hopeless Vodafone network.

Its amazing how many highly informed OBers havent caught on yet.
I've been shouting this out for months now

  • +3

Can I buy now and activate in November?

    • interested to know same

    • Activate SIM within 30 days of purchase, or by the date advertised in a promotion, whichever is earlier, to receive advertised inclusions.

    • +4

Yes confirmed in chat with customer service many times.

    • +5

I am on this plan right now. I bought it on 28h Nov 2023 and activated it on 28th Feb 2024, so 3 months after I purchased it. I believe you can activate it up to 2 years from memory but if it's a plan that offers bonus data on activation, if you don't activate it within 30 days then any bonus is not applied.

Reach out to their online chat. Super friendly and I am sure they will confirm you can buy now and activate in Nov.

    • +1

It should be okay but best to jump on live chat and ask them.

    • I think you can before expiry date, but any promotional data will not be given after promo date.

      • is 'promotional data' the 60GB or something else?

        • for this deal, no.

those are separate deals entirely for bonus data instead of reducing prices, haven't seen one from catch in a long time.

    • -2

Same. My current one expires in Nov too

    • -1

      No

Activate SIM within 30 days of purchase, or by the date advertised in a promotion, whichever is earlier, to receive advertised inclusions. This product will no longer be available to purchase after 11/06/2024.

    • Terms and conditions

You must activate your chosen prepaid plan on catchconnect.com.au or on the Catch Connect App within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised on the promotion (whichever is earlier). Additionally, you must activate your Catch Connect SIM card within 24 months of purchase, otherwise the SIM card will be cancelled and any credit associated with it will be forfeited.

    • -2

      @Asti @bluespider
      Read the Conditions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      FYI
$89 for first 365 days: Offer ends 19/05/2024, unless withdrawn earlier.
Discount applies to SIM purchase only.
Ongoing recharges revert to standard price of $120 or as otherwise advertised. New services only.
All data allowance is applied upfront after $89 payment and SIM activation.
Activate SIM within 30 days of purchase, or by the date advertised in a promotion, whichever is earlier, to receive advertised inclusions.
This product will no longer be available to purchase after 02/07/2024.

Was holding out waiting for amaysim to see if they'd sweeten the deal to renew. This is too good to pass up. Thanks OP

    • they won't do anything. i tried even today again to match but they said no they can't !

      • Match what?
Edit: Oh this deal? I've had 3 years of 50% off with my amaysim plan but I'm thinking my luck has run out.

        • match with catch deal .. !

I have them for 2 year. First year got for $69 or $79 then last year they gave almost similar deal and this year they said they are not making any money on my contract so they can't offer $89 but they can give me $119 !!

well, i am out now once i get this sim card.

          • @SydBoy: mobile prices are more expensive now on ancient 4G when the first rolled out the tech

            how are they not profitable

            pathetic

            • -1

@desync: that is true but without doing argument i just bought catch sim card and i am sure they will give big discount to someone else !

    • +3

I'm on their grandfathered 60GB(bought for $60 on sale) plan bought last year in June. Which is the last time they offered it. They've just sent me a renewal deal for $60(50% off). So it 's still happening for some

      • +3

I had the same plan and they only offered me $30 off, scumbags.

      • How do you get the renewal deal? Do you have to turn the auto renewal on or off?

        • +1

They texted and emailed me the offer. It's a link you have to click to activate. My Auto renewal was off from day 1. So that doesn't affect anything.

      • when is yours due to expire? mines late this month, nothing yet

        • +1

June 8. Got the offer on the 9th of May.

      • Lucky you.
I haven't received any offers from Amaysim and the plan ends on 23 May.

      • +1

My Amaysim plan 365 days $60 plan ends on 23 May and o still have not received any offers

    • Depends which provider you want to stay with long term.
Both Amaysim and Catch use the Optus 4G network so no difference there.

Ive found amaysim always easy to deal with.
Cant comment on Catch but my bro is with them and hasnt complained.

The main difference is that amaysim is a dedicated mobile provider.
Whilst Catch, like Kogan, is just an online store.

Going forward, once Catch withdraws this 60GB plan from sale, there will be no need for either to offer discounted renewal offers.
Unless Kogan keeps their Small 120GB 365 day plan going for $120.
So far Kogan havent indicated an end date for thier Small 365 day plan.
Thats double the data for the same money if you dont mind being on the Vodafone network.
      Lets see

  • Just purchased it for $99.

  • Does the reception varies between Catch Connect vs Coles Mobile? Or it's expected to be the same since they're both using Optus?

    • +1

Coles Mobile includes international as well and Catch doesnt for one thing.

    • It should be the same for all Optus resellers.

  • +1

Why does the price keep fluctuating $10 off and $10 on…?

    • +1

      "Marketing".

  • -2

still waiting for them to ship the one I ordered a week ago @ $99, they're giving excuses that it's delayed yada yada.
couldn't ship the old order but they advertise a new promo, sigh

  • +2

Anyone know if catch connect delivers SMS overseas?

    • +6

Yep, I had a Catch Connect + Travel SIM (from a TravelKon deal) in my dual SIM phone during an holiday to Korea/Taiwan in March this year and continued to receive SMS messages from Australia - Was able to get 2FA SMS codes

  • Any cashback or gift card can go along with the deal?

    • +10

Buy $89 Catch.com.au Gift Card using Cashrewards app for another 3.5% off

      • +1

Thanks ! I was going to buy without gift card !!! saved 3% through shopback but only gift card with value above $75 available to managed to buy $150 on gift card rest on normal card.

      • On bupa's lifereward program, it states that Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase Catch Connect services.

        • +3

I can confirm Catch gift cards work to purchase this. Mine came from Shopback/Prezzee, but I assume they are all the same

        • +1

Can confirm my payment was accepted, redeemed Catch Gift Cards purchased from Bupa Life Rewards.

  • +2

Was gonna buy it yesterday for $99, phew…

  • New service only or can I buy as an existing customer?

If new only, any advice on the cheapest port out/in option?

    • +1

Aldi $5 SIM is fast and reliable porting option…YMMV though!

  • Still waiting on the sim pack to arrive. Ordered last Sunday and $10 price drop alr. Lame.

  • Looking for free SIM provider to port in, any suggestion? :)

    • Boost

      • Not free but you get 100% CB from SB

  • +2

Thanks OP, bough to replace $10/m Dodo with 2GB/m

  • Thanks for posting. I'm glad I can keep my sub $100/year run going.

    • -1

No no, you want to be aiming for them to be paying you MORE than $100/year.

  • +2

We used to be on Catch but switched to woolworth mobile. 10% discount once a month pays for the bill

    • Yeah that one is good but its $170/year

      • But you get most if not all back, so its pretty much free

    • +2

I used to be on Woolworths Mobile, but then they put their price up to $170. I found it better to switch to a cheaper mobile provider (e.g. Catch or Amaysim when a good deal comes up), and get 10% off Woolworths shops using Everyday Extra (currently available for only $35/year and has additional benefits).

      • You can get both - thats what i do

  • Would this work if i switch from Coles Mobile to Catch since both of them are under optus?

    • +1

      yup it will work.

    • +1

It will work, but Optus to Optus porting takes substantially longer than any other combination.

      • Would it be unwise to start the porting process on the last day of my current Coles plan?

I have no idea if I can or need to receive SMS on an expired plan. Back in the day you could still receive calls and sms without credit.

I've seen quite a few reports that Coles to Catch only takes a few minutes.

        • From my personal experience, it can take anywhere from one business day (i.e. start port at start of working day, goes through by end of day) to 3 whole business days.

That was a few years ago, so maybe they've improved things to be similar to other combinations?

Only someone who has recently ported Optus to Optus would be able to tell us.

      • I did 2 recently (this and last month, Coles to Catch), both ported almost immediately.

      • Did two Coles Mobile to Amaysim ports recently, both went through just fine. Saturday one was completed instantaneously, the one I did on Tuesday took about 10 mins to complete.

  • My son is nearly 13 and will need a sim soon for organising sport pickup, etc. Just wondering if it's worth pulling the trigger on this now (consensus being cheap plans like this are being discontinued?) or wait until actually needed? Also, if we start now is it likely there'll be grandfathered deals for existing customers in future?

    • consensus being cheap plans like this are being discontinued?

Where are you hearing this? Also interested for my dashcam

    • +2

The standard pricing for cheap, decent 365 plans appears to be $120, up from $99.

Coles are no longer offering the $120 plan at all to new customers and no longer offering a discount to recharge grandfathered plans. Catch appear to be still offering recharge discounts, but they won't have much competition anymore, so who knows.

My guess is you might be able to get this plan for $99 in the near future, but this $89 deal is about as good as we are likely to see. Even the ultra cheap Amaysim $60 plan appears to be reserved for existing customers.

      • +2

well i have no renewal offer yet for my $60 amaysim plan and it expires late this month

and i barely used it - so if they were offering in general you'd think i'd be at the top of the list to qualify

        • When does amaysim send out renewal offers?

    • Considering no other retailer is offering these plans anymore for new customers, I would buy now at this price.

      Next cheapest is $120

  • How long will it take for them to deliver this in Sydney?

What happens if it isn't delivered before my existing prepaid expires in 7 days?

    • Well, given that your current plan is prepaid, then you'll just go without for a few days. Perfectly fine if you use Google Messages RCS on WiFi, for example.

Unless you have auto renewal enabled on your current prepaid provider.

Ports will still work on numbers that are active, but not recharged. Most prepaid providers hold onto the number for a few months before terminating the service completely.

      • Thanks, Would I still get incoming calls and SMS?

      • Hi there,

Confirming not recharged as in no credit on the prepaid? At the moment I have no credit on my prepaid but it doesn't expire till July… Can I still port it over?

        Thanks

  • Thanks OP! Is there a delivery delay atm? If it's delivery within 7 days I'll be happy as larry ~

  • +1

    Does Catch offer esim?

    • would like to know too. Checked on their website, but couldn't find any information.

    • same question

    • It appears that Catch does not mention anything about eSim while many other providers do. It looks like the answer is no.

  • +1

Just an update, I received SIM 2 days but on the app status of the order says "pending shipping", so everyone better check the post box not the app !

    • received email today: "Your order has been delayed" - then sim arrives in the mail today lol

  • What happens when you use all your data up before the 365 days ends and do not recharge to add more data? Can you still make/receive calls and send/receive SMS messages until the 365 days expire?

    • i presume you need to buy a data pack if you want more data

      • Yes, but in theory thinking calls and SMS should still work without any data and use the GSM network?

        • Yes it does. Both incoming and outgoing calls and SMS. Only data will stop working.
