I am genuinely interested but the lack of response does not give me a lot of confidence.
I have a Robotek Plus which is rated at 20micron which recently require new parts after 5 years of service so I am looking for a replacement/spare.
In addition to my other questions, I have no idea after looking at the different product line as to what the differences are between M series, S series, Swash, Eclipse minus all the hype.
Ie M700: Best class, premium& exceptional robotic pool cleaner, while the Dolphin S400: Absolute premium pool cleaning performance.
The product comparison page (and which model is right for me), it only covers M, S and liberty series. Even then the advertising jargon does not help (looks at various description of brushes)
I’ve had the clx now almost two years I can’t fault it especially for this price. Pool is roughly 9x4 and is not perfectly rectangle and it handles it well enough.
What micron is filter rated at?
This is pretty much the first thing I want to know about a pool cleaner. Why is this information not advertised more prominently.
Why the specials? Are better models coming out?
Been a long time since I owned a pool but surely a vacuum that sucks the dirt straight into the pool filter (we had a kreepy krauley) would be more effective?
I have a Dolphin with a 30 micron filter: it's amazing how it picks up dirt: you wash it out with a high pressure setting on your garden hose. It's amazing what it filters out. So you don't need to use the pool filter so much. Big saving in electricity.
100% correct. A robotic pool cleaner works independent of the pool pump and filter system. Meaning you can use the cleaner as often or as little as you need without excessive wear and tear on your other pool equipment. In addition to saving electricity too. And also less backwashing of the filter if you use a media filter - meaning a saving in water consumption.
Most suction cleaners will do OK with maybe larger debris, but really struggle with fine dust and dirt. A Dolphin will tackle this with ease. You will certainly notice a cleaner and clear pool with a robot.
@MaytronicsAus: Google says a sand filter is about 30 microns, seems about equivalent. Can't see how a little filter on the vac could compete with the thousandsL/h sand filter. Definitely true about the pool pump using a lot more energy (if you don't have solar) My only experience with these type of vac was once I stayed at an Airbnb with a similar pool vac and it was very ineffective

Love my Maytronics DB2 robot. Only 3 months old but makes life easy. Surprised by how fine dirt it can pickup. Leaves the pool filter for the really fine stuff. I do need to use pool pole brush to push muck away from the steps area as robot does reach, but that only takes a minute. I come back in 2 hours, clean the robot basket of filth, coil cable, put robot away. Almost never use pool vacuum. Don't know how my model compares to this one, mine is end of life I believe.
