That's a different colour scheme to the one on Amazon, but personally I think it's more attractive.

And $10 cheaper than at Mwave. I think it should be added to the OP.

      • Delivery might be that $10. Do you know if it works for PS3 and PS5?

    • +2

Isn't this the one OP was looking for? @macca

    • Ooh! On backorder now.. might be worth a go

    These look so good.

Probably one of the only accessories that work with Noctua's colour scheme

    • My pc setup is noctua themed. I have a kb, mat and headphones to match also.

Drop x noctua keycaps on Q1 pro, sennheiser hd599 in ivory, custom noctua painted nr200 with noctua braided cabling and all noctua fans.

      I think I have a problem

    • Oh wow this one looks really nice

    • Same. The novelty of the 🕹️!

    • That is very cool. That’s my Christmas present sorted

    • +1

That version might finally push me over the line to get one of these. So far I've been on the fence due to the lack of numpad, but I could maybe make something work for the C64 edition.

    • Will buy this when it's in aus.

A link to an old comment of you being dumb. Happy to neg all over again.

Anyone have recommendations for a standalone numpad that would pair well with this (or other keyboards with no numpad)?

      • +9

Thanks for the very unhelpful reply. Yes I'm aware numbers are already on keyboards…

Benefit of standalone numpad is you can put it on the left too for ergonomics. I use a numpad a lot, and prefer the workflow. Hence my question.

          • +1

@Nom: Okay, genius, but what about the plus key, the minus key, the enter key, the period, and the enter key? Your proposed method would introduce a LOT of unnecessary hand movement and objectively slow things down. Not everyone needs a numpad but to suggest that the usefulness can be approached without it?

            that is a lol

            • -6

              @DiscountForThee:

Your proposed method would introduce a LOT of unnecessary hand movement and objectively slow things down.

Absolutely - it does take a fraction longer to hit certain keys, I don't dispute that. But it really is a fraction - certainly not a deal breaker.

I had exactly the same issues when I switched from a mouse to a trackball - at first the trackball was slower and harder to use.
But now I wouldn't go back to a mouse.

              • +7

@Nom: So you're suggesting something which is objectively slower… because of preference? Why even stop there and not just use the on-screen keyboard and click every key with your trackball?

                • -6

                  @DiscountForThee:

suggesting something which is objectively slower… because of preference

I'm suggesting something that is marginally slower, because that's the experience you get with a keyboard like this. I just don't think it's worth addressing with a seperate numpad - the experience without a numpad is just fine once you've become accustomed to it - just like every laptop user is.

                  • +1

                    @Nom:

become accustomed to it - just like every laptop user is.

This is not a positive baseline that anyone should aspire towards

I feel like you're missing the point people are making, and it explains a lot

          • +5

@Nom: I understand that. But I have a preference and am simply looking for recommendations for that preference, not trying to get in a debate about whether numpads are worthwhile or not…

      • Umm, no

      • +5

Spoken like someone who has never done CAD work. Numpad is paramount for many productivity-related tasks.

K23 Motospeed is a good budget pad and fully mechanical at roughly 28AUD on Aliexpress.

          • +5

@Nom: You think only 0.01% of users utilise numpads? By the way, all the letters on your keyboard are already available on your iPad and also clickable in Windows with your mouse, so why are you even looking at keyboard deals?

            • -2

@jenna12: The mechanical keyboard scene has an absolute butt-load of models with no numpad. Exactly like this one infact.

They're just normal keyboards these days - most of the users buying these keyboards aren't buying matching numpads to go with them ! It's exactly like using a laptop keyboard - what percentage of people do you see connecting numpads to their laptops ?

You just adapt, and it's fine 🤷🏼‍♂️

              • +9

@Nom: We get it, you don't use things like Excel, you don't use any production software, you don't use hotkeys. You love tenkeyless, that's fine, but why are you trying to tell other people they don't need the increased productivity and speed gained with a numpad? I hope you don't have two screens, you realise you can see everything on one screen right?…

                • -2

@jenna12: I spend half my working life in Excel and Google Sheets.
And sometimes I even do this on my Surface Pro keyboard, which is barely even a keyboard !
And you know what ? It's fine.

why are you trying to tell other people they don't need the increased productivity and speed gained with a numpad

Because for most people, this is true.
I don't think the average OzBargainer needs a numpad, as I have been saying all along.

I hope you don't have two screens

I use a single 40" 4K screen, or I use a pair of 27" screens, or sometimes I use my tiny Surface Pro screen. Not sure what relevance any of this has.

                  • +2

@Nom: Some people could say that using a 60Hz 720p screen is "fine" for modern gaming and productivity - and for them, it might be, but it also doesn't mean anyone needs to take them seriously lol

You finding something which is subjectively or sometimes objectively inferior doesn't mean it could be fine for many / any others

          • +2

@Nom: It is true. We are the Chosen Ones. The 0.01%. -Straightens collar-

            • +1

@ozdog64: im actually in the number row camp. I can use the numpad because I have a full size mech but always preferred number row. I think it’s a generational thing.

It is true. We are the Chosen Ones. The 0.01%. -Straightens collar-

at least you have a good sense of humour. this comment is really funny. 😂

              • -5

@harshbdmmaster718: The hate for the number row in these comments is intense ! I wonder if any of the pro-numpad commenters have actually tried spending the time to adjust to no-numpad life 🤷🏼‍♂️
Back when I was a numpad guy, I used to hate how big keyboards were (eating into your mouse space) and how my productivity went to shit on a laptop. I much prefer being comfortable with the number row.

                • @Nom: This is the weirdest arguement I have heard from anyone, move on from it, people have different preferences to you and some prefer the greater performance from a numpad. Mouse in my right hand, numpad in my left, I can get a lot more done than with using the numbers at the top of keyboard which would require a lot more movement of my arms to get done.

A numpad is ideal for many people, a seperate one more so as it could go onto the left side of the keyboard. Do you prefer the old Nokia phone style of keyboard where you press each key a number of times to get the letter you want as you don't need anything else right? I wouldn't mind a sperate numpad with a few more buttons on, % ( ) $ keys for example, so I could rarely move my hand from my mouse.

                • @Nom: I can touch type 100+ WPM, but even I prefer a numpad for the sole reason of camping my left on the pad while my right is steering the mouse. This way I can enter any number key from 0 to 9, decimals and operators without taking my hand off the mouse. Without a numpad, this is infeasible especially for operators like "+" and "-" which require Shift + key combinations. Cannot imagine touch typing the entire numbers row with just my left hand neither since traditionally the left hand is designated for number keys 1 to 5 only.

      • This sort of discussion makes me think this is how a lot of companies get away with shrinkflation and removing choice. The other example that comes to mind here are phones, with removing headphone jack, micro SD card slot, etc. and plenty of people justifying they do/don't need it. Too bad in general they seem to win.

Love a Famicom, still got mine in storage somewhere. Nostalgia and all that. … but I'm not paying that much for a keyboard without a numpad or it's hard to match with one.

        • +1

This is like the opposite of 'shrinkflation and removing choice'. There's a market there for different formats and they're chasing it.

You can choose to buy a keyboard without a numpad. Or choose to buy one with. (Although quite possibly not from this brand in this style…) It's up to you. Other brands are still doing full-sized keyboards.

    • I've seen people pair this one with it online
      https://www.whatgeek.com/products/cidoo-v21-via-wireless-num…

Could go full Nintendo style though…
      https://www.whatgeek.com/products/doio-kb09-01-gba-macro-key…

      • First one looks nice.
Second looks cool, but definitely not a numpad replacement with that button layout.

  • This keyboard is fantastic. If you're on the fence, then go for it! I got it for $150 in the last deal, no regrets.

  • +1

Are these any good for gaming?

    • +1

I prefer my Ducky One 2 with Cherry Silver switches for gaming tbqh, but if you can stand the sound of this one, it's not a bad little keyboard. It's very clicky, though. Having said that, the switches are hot swappable, and I'm thinking of putting some Kailh Midnight Pro switches in to see if it makes it any better.

  • Anybody use this with a Mac?

    • It works. both bluetooth and wired.
The software is Windows only though, never managed to try it.

One thing though — when I use volume knob it does not register every other click, but then changes volume for 2 steps. weird.

  • Fantastic keyboard, bought it from the last deal and been loving it. still getting used to not having a dedicated numpad, but will persist.

    • still getting used to not having a dedicated numpad, but will persist.

May the Force be with you 🤗

  • I don't understand why this keyboard is so attractive and seems like selling like hot cake

    • +2

      Novelty buttons.

    • +2

Nostalgic aesthetic combined with quality components and functionality.

  • Does anyone know if this keyboard works with PS5?

Some Bluetooth keyboards are not compatible

  • Please, please, please release an edition of this with a numpad and it will be an insta buy for me!

(I don't think 8BitDo product teams are on OzBargain :P)

    • +1

I just bought a RK-S98 after a year of using a Motospeed K87S and as much as I tried to get used to no numpad, I just couldn't. I would LOVE the C64 version to have a numpad variant. Seeing it hits me right in the feels.
