    • +2

      Massive L

    • +4

So I said cmon man, that’s only $2

Seller: Hey. Be a man! Do the right thing!

      • +6

You save 50 cents here you go somewhere else you save another 50 cents.. you have one dollar and you go to the dollar store you go buy something else!

        • +2

Lmao that was the joke I wanted to go with but just didn’t mesh organically with the content . Glad there’s still some old school fans of Russell peters. Many only know the new stuff… which is pretty meh

  • +1

This not Kogan at $1129 but warranty coverage

Does Kogan back the ACCC warranty of 2 years on the steam deck OLED?

  • +11
    • +18

COULD THIS DAY GET ANY WORSE!?

  • +3

This is quintessential Ozbargain edging, I love it.

  • +4

Why don’t they just start selling the bloody thing here officially.

    • +4

Agreed. We need to show that there is demand for an official release of the Steam Deck.

Unless, fat Stallman lookalike GabeN is still salty about his loss to the ACCC over his lies and deceit of operating in our country.

    • +1

Maybe put it on your wish list in steam? If many people here register their interest maybe be the steam God will have pitty on us and release it officially

  • +6

Enjoying fallout 4 on steam deck 🙌

    • Did you have an issue with the voice audio not working?

  • Revive my 300 game collection steam account or live with my choice to move to ps5….

    I don't neeeeeed it

    • +7

Ahh but it will be good for the economy

      • +7

I really should be doing my part

        • The Greater Good (TM)

      I don't neeeeeed it

There’s your answer. Save your money for something you actually need.

  • OLED or ROG Ally?

    • +4

      OLED.

    • Do you want better viewing experience and more stable frames or do you want higher res IPS with better overall performance?

      Can't have both.

      • +3

And decent battery VS horrible battery and easy to use OS VS lots of tinkering and crashes.

  • How good is this seller?

    • +1

      Excellent.

      • Better than Kogan?

I’m concerned as it’s a eBay shop vs a big company which will back warranties

        • +1

Kogan is garbage with warranties and will often (illegally) punt you off to the manufacturer until you threaten them with documentation from accc etc

          • +1

@BarneyKB: I think they would be better then eBay tho

  • +1

Has anyone gone through warranty with My-Phonez before? Seems like they're pretty iffy with after support going by the whirlpool post and review for their physical store. Might be better to wait for Mobileciti to drop the price again since they have a rep here to communicate if anything goes wrong.

    • You've linked two articles from 2017 and 2020 lol

      • +3

Yes, and? I was just asking if anyone has claimed warranty through them recently since those are the only info I could fine. If you read the review for their physical store, they're all within the last 12 months they aren't exactly positive.

        • And i can find you plenty of big name stores like JB, TGG and many more with a lower score…

Their Ebay store is where you should be looking for reviews..

Since these are grey market they will send them back overseas and get it fixed or replaced which will be months, i doubt one mob or the other would be better..

          • +1

@solidussnake: Checking the ebay feedback percentage and reviews doesn't really inspire confidence. You could use the device for its entire lifespan without any issues, but it's always good to have a backup on dealing with the seller if anything goes wrong. Anyway, it's always good to have competition which means more bargain for us.

    • +1

      @AHUANG you have the power!

      • +1

Funny thing is that I found the thread where you called the rep to help the ozbargainer get a refund for their refurbish which swayed my decision.

    • Just posted about it below, I wouldn't expect a warranty at all

    • I messaged My-Phonez on eBay to ask if this came with any warranty as I'm considering pulling the pin and got the below response. Could absolutely be lip service to get the sale and would still be cautious based on those reviews as well as some of the other feedback in this deal.

      Hi there,

Thank you for showing interest in doing business with us. Kindly be advised that the device is covered by our store's 12 months warranty which you can use for repair and replacement during the warranty period. Should you have other questions please let us know and we’ll be happy to help you.

      With kind regards,

Just to add that even if you don't get the OLED version, the old version is still amazing. As someone who works and has no time, I use my steam deck to stream games to my steam deck and have been able to finally finish so many games in bed and in the loungeroom. It works well if you have a partner who wants you to be around them more of the time.

    • +2

It's great for just pick up and play. Putting in a session of RDR 2 on PC is boot up PC, log in, launch game, wait for Rockstar Launcher, wait for game and logos to play, load your save game, then play. It could be 5 min from deciding you want to game to actually being in the game - not really worth it if you only have 15 min in between whatever.

On Steam Deck it's press power button and play. 2s. (if you put it to sleep and didn't shut it down the last time you played). The same with ending a session. Pause and power button - 2s and you're done. No need to reach that next save point, then quit, then shut down PC.

I can easily put in some game time for 5 minutes and put down the game immediately when dinner is ready or whatever.

      • So you saying the game can be saved at any point using steam deck without having to save it in the game itself?

        • +5

Nah. It doesn't save. It just continues on where you closed it.

Same as when you press power button on Switch and other hand held to suspend play, but the game is still running in low power mode in the background.

    • I use my steam deck to stream games to my steam deck

What did you mean by this

      • +3

You can stream games from your PC, Gamepass, PS5, Cloud etc.. Basically the graphics are processed elsewhere but it is streamed to your Deck and played on there.

        • Yep! I use Sunshine/Moonlight to Stream my games from my gaming PC to my Steam Deck. I love having the ability to put every high setting up and playing at the Steam Decks resolution. It's actually really good latency as long as you have your PC wired to the router/modem and the Steam Deck is on WiFi 6.

I only real use my Steam Deck at home streaming my gaming PC. If I go overseas I might take it with me to play on the plane.

    900 and I’m in

    • +1

I am likely dreaming. Looking at 800.

      • Maybe in prime day?

    • +4

      is $900 the new fence?

  • +12

Just be wary that you'll probably have no actual warranty with My-Phonez. My mate got a faulty one through them and they wouldn't even reply to any of his messages. Lucky's he was within the eBay return period so raised a case, otherwise he'd be up shit creek

    • +4

      Important feedback

    • +1

you still got paypal buyer protection

      • +1

        Only lasts for 180 days.

        • +1

the point was it is something you can resort to if it is past the ebay 60 days return period

      • They do have an abn number and a valid business license to sell hardware so they are bound by Australian consumer laws to provide warranty whether they want to or not.

  • +3

    I'm holding till its $995

  • +1

I don’t know how you people can sleep at night, knowing that you paid $2 extra just a few days ago for the SAME product, heartbreaking!

    • +4

      I take cold showers.

  • -2

    What is this for?

    • +10

      Baby monitor.

      • +3

Funny how perspective changes things. This is an expensive games console, but a cheap gaming pc, or a mid-tier baby monitor :P

        • +3

Or expensive paper weight if not used.

  • -1

Play on this only cause text neck syndrome. I rather buy PS5

  • It's a pity there is no overall "Best" re SD/Legion/Ally.. they are all best at certain things.

  • Would this be eligible for a claim with TRS? Have an upcoming overseas trip in a couple of weeks and missed out on the previous Mobileciti deal.

    • +2

Yes it should as Mobileciti have an Australian business number.

I got an overseas trip in June so I'm tempted. I wonder if this can drop to $900-950..

      • +1

Ebay plus weekend is in one week and Amazon prime day is in a month or two, might get better deal at those.
