My aliexpress portable touchscreen literally crucified my Surface Pro 8 on easter weekend. I plugged it in on Good Friday and both screens instantly went black after the monitor came on for a couple of seconds. The SP8 didn't come back on until Easter Sunday afternoon and I've just marked the portable monitor out of service. Anyone else had similar issues with aliexpress portable monitors or religion in general?

I haven't had any issues with mine, but I am using the HDMI port only.

      • Yeah I was doing usb-c to usb-c

    • Yikes, anywhere that sells an equivalent spec to this screen that would have better warranty? Would consider paying a bit more

It was this screen for the record, and this deal with my comment of 'Ok I caved. Please don't be a lemon. Please don't be a lemon.' coming back to haunt me, like Jesus

        • Is the SP8 all good though? No permanent damage?

I bought my from the Vchance store. I think Bimawen and Vchance are all the same. The monitor ID comes back as a WCS which is the manufacturer WeiChenSi.

          • @jlogic: It's been all good since it switched back on. Haven't touched the portable screen though.

        • Hoo wee, that's a pretty expensive Aliexpress monitor too. Did you test the USB C port of your Surface Pro 8 to see if there is any permanent damage?

          • @anonym: Yeah I ran health checks and it says it's all in good health. How would I check the port specifically?

            • @King Steuart: I have a multifunctional USB C hub with 100W PD, HDMI display out, ethernet, and some extra USB A ports so I'd just cycle through them all to make sure everything is working as expected.

  • Nice portable screen. I might grab one this time.
Hey Clear - do you see any good android pad deals this time? Budget is around $200 for my elderly to read books or watch youtubes.

I've not really looked much into them this sale. I assume around the 10" size? Do you care about Widevine for Netflix HD?

      • Yea 10" and I dont care about netflix HD.

  • Thanks OP, picked one up for my ITX system

  • 1440p is overkill imo for this screen size

    • well,, it's so that any dead px will be smaller

  • just ordered. but too sure if it will come with the AU plug or not. from the picture I can tell was a CN plug.

    • It'll be an EU plug. Any old USB charger will be fine.

  • all gone by the looks of it. Anything comparable?
