Hi Gang,

I've been looking for a new fridge since who can afford to justifying eating out anymore, ignore my hypocrisy.

This one apparently is normally $2,599, but $2,120 at Costco and Appliances Online. But now on clearance for $1,390.95 at Samsung Education.

Now for the extra discounts, American Express previously had a spend $500 at Samsung and get a $100 credit and Shopback have 4% off which equates to $50.58 a final price of $1,240.37. Shopback seems to have come through via email (but according to their terms I'm not sure it was supposed to work with the education store, but so far it has. As for AMEX I couldn't find anything confirming or denying the samsung education store.

I think you could also stack the Samsung app instead of Shopback for 5%, but I'm using Unidays to access Samsung Education so I haven't figured out how to login to the app.

Hope this helps, seems a bargain.

      You can get access pretty easily if that helps :) as a last resort you can sign up for a Westpac account and that will give it to you.

If you don't have a Samsung account, sign up below.” on the login page.. but i am not sure you can simply login to your Samsung account from that URL and the price will be adjusted.

              @Ozbaragain: If you are a Westpac customer you get essentially the same prices I believe. Accessible from the Rewards section in your online banking. Price is not quite as low though $1517.40

      Imagine 5 weeks without a fridge. Horrible. So much for the strict australian consumer laws. I believe at this point there should a law that any equipment taken for replacement should be temporarily replaced with a same or better item until its fixed.

        Yeah I thought things had gotten better as well, but it hasn't.

        Earlier in the year 3 week old fridge basically stopped cooling. I thought being so new JB/LG would get on it quick if not replace it - nope to both. Took ages to get a repairman to come out, then the repair didn't fix it. Back and forth again taking couple of weeks and when they cancelled the appointment for the nth time, they relented and approved a replacement.

        If I hadn't kept the old fridge I don't know what I would have done.

      We had this and had nothing but trouble. Samsung customer service was awful.
      The fridge part didn't keep stuff cool. The freezer kept thawing and re-freezing.
      The first service technician came out and flashed new software. The second came out and replaced the board. The third came out and was the first to run a diagnostic, he found that it was indeed cycling temp but way out of accepted range. He contacted Samsung and told them I needed a replacement. I said I wanted a refund and compensation for all the food we had lost. The whole process took about 2 months.
      We were lucky that I'd put our old refrigerator out on the deck for drinks so we could use that for food.

      It looked pretty good on the kitchen and, as somebody else mentioned, the ice dispenser was good. But my advice would be to avoid.

      I would never buy Samsung fridge, regardless how cheap.

      LG are a lot better.

      Keep in mind that your generally going to hear the bad experiences when searching reviews,

      My Samsung SRS675DLS fridge (visually looks the same as this one) from the EDU store early last year for $1320 has been flawless thus far as I am sure many others are too.

      I had a Samsung fridge (6+ years) before this one too and it was still going strong when we replaced it with this one.

      If you get a good unit you should generally fine. Fridges and warranty are tricky though because you still need to keep your stuff cold if it fails and needs repair.

        I'd never touch Samsung white goods again (I do buy Samsung phones though)

        Had a fridge similar to this and hand had no end of problems.
        Their customer service is one of the worst I've experienced. When you go searching you find this is just how bad their products and customer service is.

          Same boat. Some of their goods are fine, but won't touch white goods.

          Had a fridge that had issues just outside warranty. Same issue numerous models experienced. Same issues there was a class action for oversees.

          Their customer service said they'd see what they could do if I paid to have their repairer inspect. Paid, report sent. Radio silence for months. Only contacting ACCC coerced them to tell me they deny liability.

          Seems like they were experiencing the same issue 5-10 years later. Pathetic.

          I work in an adjacent industry and deal with repairers regularly, none of them are happy to recommend Samsung.

      Lots of bad reviews on Samsung fridges. Had our for 10 years. Big thing with an ice maker. All things considered I'd buy a Samsung fridge again. Not a perfect fridge but worth it's price

            @placard: Not in my experience. The thing gets a lot of use too. Kids always getting crushed ice. I get it. I've had dudd purchases and left the bad reviews but my Samsung fridge works well after 10 years. Can't say the same for my outboard motor or the electric trolling motor… I'm cursed when it comes to boating stuff

            @placard: Once every 6 months you'll get a jam because the ice stuck but its uncommon.

            You need to clean it anyway (well your choice)

            @placard: Have this fridge. Only had it freeze up when not using ice maker for a long time and opened and closed the freezer a lot. Basically if ice melts a bit in hopper.

            Fairly easy fix, take hopper out, rinse with warm water, replace when fully dry.

              @Minimum chips: Similar thing happened to me but I didn't need to rinse anything out. Just dumped the ice and reset the maker.

              Ice melted a little during summer when the kitchen got a bit warm.

    Have a similar fridge but only 2 door. Good luck with any Samsung appliance, had mine for 6 months so far, hoping I get a lot more out of it.

    Agreed that Samsung fridges just don't do well. I have had repeated issues requiring full food replacement of food twice. I like their phones and some other products, but I'd avoid the fridges if you can.
    Currently my Samsung fridge's ice maker doesn't work (also a common issue)

      Disagree on LG, yes it is better than Samsung, but their compressors are notoriously shit.

      I would recommend Mitsubishi.

      My budget pick is whirlpool otherwise.

      I used one of those massive LG fridges (water dispenser + ice maker) at an apartment in Queensland. I want one at my home now but won't be redesigning the kitchen just to fit a fridge that's double the size of my current one.

    Is Samsung still in the 3rd tier or so when it comes to home appliances? My understanding is Bosch (made in Germany), Miele… are in the 1st tier; LG, Bosch (not made in Germany)… are the 2nd and Samsung, infamous of reliability and fires issues is in the 3rd. Not sure if it’s still true though.

      Its about right

      When they first came into the market, Samsung had some great appliances. My fridge and washer are about 10 years old and never missed a heartbeat.

      But now they've cut corners and quality that the warranties aren't worth anything and the Samsung call centre and whoever manages them don't care

    LG is in the middle of a potential class action in the states over the failing compressor’s in their fridge’s .

    Don’t know if they’ve been using the same compressors in models imported here but , these policies of management of companies that hollow out the quality of their goods and rely solely on their past reputation seems to be a worldwide industrial problem of short term greed over long term sustainable growth .

    If they have their way , soon you’ll be lucky to get 5years out of your “smart” fridge/washer/car and you will be grateful for it .

    Gotta keep those factory robots working .

      Yep. Mate has a fairly new LG French door, whilst it is working that compressor is bloody loud and sounds inefficient af.

      Would avoid asap.

    Ive had a Samsung fridge for 15 years now, absolutely no issues apart from some of the plastic shelves breaking (down to a big one and two little ones, held together with gaffa). Maybe the older models are more reliable than the later ones? Or maybe we just got lucky

    I have had this fridge for exactly 1 year now, purchased from samsung (Non edu) when they had a deal for $1800 delivered. I think what most people have mentioned above is fair and as a general they are probably not the best but so far I have had no issues and for me I personally just liked the design when I saw it in store at Bing Lee, the only fault I would say is it seems rather small for the liter it advertises. I think its great for a small family but if you need more space get something else. To be honest I bought it for the looks, whether it would shit itself a couple years later with all the mixed reviews came second. If it does and I become another statistic then I guess I wont be buying samsung again, until then loving it!

    Samsung’s customer service sucks! We had a top of the line Samsung fridge fail due to the ice machine and now our replacement has also failed and we have been fighting with them for over a year to get a refund or replacement with no luck so far.

      Our fridge failed after 18 months and Samsung sent a tech out the next day to repair it complete with the part he needed . This was about 10 years ago . Fridge is still going strong ..

    Think we paid like $2100-2400$ less then 15 months ago for one of these and the ice and water feature is awesome, only bad thing I would say is the freezer temperature doesn’t seem to set correctly whenever we manual do it, it just automatically goes back up later
