  flew with them from Melbourne to Frankfurt early March, the outbound wasn't too bad, specially i paid RMB 200 or so for lounge access in Guangzhou, so got drunk and pretty much slept all the way from CAN to FRA, the inbound was a nightmare, first of all the flight was booked via a local travel agent here in Australia, on the date of my return flight, Germany had a massive strike on both rail and airport, so nobody was getting in and out of Frankfurt, when i got to the China southern check in counter in Frankfurt, all they had on the big screen was "call +86 400 xxxx", the ground stuff can't help me re-schedule the flight, and have no idea when strike will end. Rang the number on the screen, and they can't help me either, since i booked my flight with an australian travel agent, and it was 11pm our time, so next morning our time I rang work and get them to sort things out with travel agent, turns out next available China southern flight is 3 days away, and they had to re-book in into a EK flight back to Melbourne.
  I think they are ok to fly, but make sure you buy the travel insurance, otherwise you will be on your own if there is a problem

    i personally dont think that is airline's problem. You didnt buy the ticket from the airline directly so it make sense you have to get the travel agent to sort it out with you.

      It would've been under airport control though (<24h until flight), so they should've been able to handle it there.

  Jusst travel on China Southern and I can vouch for their quality service equivalent to 5 star airline, the best value for the money.
