Just FYI, they also status match most other airlines up to gold. Requires an upcoming trip already booked.

Qatar Platinum I was offered gold with them.

    • Twice the legal minute?

    • Can you elaborate more please?

We appreciate your interest in a KrisFlyer status match. To be eligible for a status match, you must meet the following requirements:

        • Provide documentation proving your current status with Qatar Airways, including a screenshot of your frequent flyer program card showing tier and expiry, and an activity statement from the last 12 months demonstrating how the status was earned.
        • Have a flown/firm commercial booking on Singapore Airlines within -1 month to +3 months from the request date. Members with firm bookings further out than +3 months should make a request closer to the departure date. Only commercial bookings are allowed.
        • Complete and return the attached Status Match Request Form.

Once we receive the necessary documents, we will forward your request to our team for consideration. Please note that the approval of status match requests is at the discretion of Singapore Airlines and is subject to the terms and conditions of the KrisFlyer programme, which include maintaining a certain level of flight activity.

        tl;dr:
Flight within past month or next 3 months with Singapore to be eligible. Is still 'at their discretion'. Requires flight history showing how status was earnt.

        • Can they actually check the flight activities? Like what’s stopping someone from photoshopping it?

I think the biggest problem I have with SQ Gold is that it's incredibly hard/expensive to retain.

      • Yeah, I only looked into it as Singapore flights were cheap.

I gained Qatar status via the Accor offer (now ended, they did a status match thing)

Just don’t post any mean tweets while you’re there or straight to jail

    • Yep.

In the UK today it's Brown bail, White jail.

would it kill these air carriers to do specials during the July season….

    • -1

Why is july always skipped , school holidays?

      • +6

Peak season… Summer in Europe so heaps of travellers, so they don't need to lower the price.

        • -2

I'm aware why. It just sucks.

Also pre-covid it was never as bad as this…. Flights return during july were 1200 - 2000.

          Now it's 4k+

          Just insanity.

          • @Ruddaga: Why not go at a different time of year?

            • @BepisCola: Being a school teacher limits the times I can go sadly.

          • @Ruddaga: Don't expect to book in March for a cheap fare. I booked August and got $1600 with Etihad.

            • @Pootie Tang: What dates? I've been looking for 8 months now…. almost daily. Checking multiple sites. Getting Etihad for 1600 return in July is pretty good. Cheapest I saw was 1900 via Qatar to Paris. during those dates.

          • -1

@Ruddaga: Also lol to being downvoted for stating facts… You clowns.

    • +10

Why would they do specials in the highest demand period, when they can sell out every flight at full fare? Seriously mate.

      • As mentioned before have gotten similar prices before pre-covid….. Hell even post COVID the prices were better only in 23. Serious mate.

  • Got it for 1300 from Melb last year :(

    • +3

An intriguing whinge-brag hybrid, shimmeringly pointless

      • -1

Might stall people to wait a couple of months for potentially lower prices.

Who wants to go London? lol Shiathole.

    • Convenient place from which to access the rest of Europe with loads of budget airlines.

  • The return flight being only 2 weeks is ridiculously short, london is so far

  • 1500$ is a deal? On Google flights it's always showing under $1300.

    • Don't forget to look at the details of the airlines and connections. Sometimes that cheap flight requires you to wait 12 or more hours at an airport. A friend did that recently and said she'd spend the extra $200 to avoid it.

  • I'm looking to fly to London in May, and Singapore Air's offer of ~$1650 from Adelaide is rather tempting. But it has a 9 hour overnight layover. Does the airline provide a hotel, or do I need to book it myself?

The next best option is Qatar Airlines for about $250 more, and it has a short layover.

    • Sleep at Changi airport and save $250.
