    Dont need 2 kidneys anyway…

  • +15

Shows how out of touch you are with the second hand kidney market. Typical Oz bargain.

Lotta dosh for a card that will be superceded in 6 months…

Yeah I know I'll get the "wHy DoNt We JuSt WaIt FoR tHe 6090 ThEn" comments… But there's a difference between waiting for 6 months from now and waiting since October 2022 when this card was released.

and for some reason soon NVIDIA is increasing prices on some models by 10%

      • +3

Hey It's a tough economy m8. Everyones hurtin', even nvidia

        • +5

jensen will not be satisfied without the worlds supply of leather jackets

        • +1

Not nvidia. They are doing better than ever.

Computer retailers must be feeling the reluctance of buyers to spend big on 4000 series now that it's rumoured the 5090 will have a presentation or launch by end of the year.

    • with nvidia increasing the prices of some of their GPU's there must be increased demand

    • +5

I suspect the home buyers for xx90 cards is heavily skewed towards people doing machine learning stuff at home, and there's no real need for the 4090 when the 3090 has the same amount of vram, which is the main limiting factor, and can be bought for less than half the price as well.

      • +1

It's only for used cards, while you can buy 4090 new with warranty etc. Overall, true, on budget 3090 is a good card for machine learning, but for many tasks 4090 is still often 1.2-1.5x faster. In addition, it's hard to install 4 3090 cards with the single PSU due to power usage spikes (even when power limited to something like 300W with 2000W PSU).

    Waiting for sub 2k

    • +4

Just got to wait for the AI hype to end

      • +14

        Good luck with that

        • +6

AI hype might not end, but Nvidia's semi-monopoly might. Nvidia's pricing has forcibly spawned a dozen ASICs startups, in that space.

          • +8

            All fake competition

Real competition would be certain countries continuing development on ZLUDA and then releasing cards that offer 80% of RTX CUDA performance for 20% of the price

You know this is an actual threat because NVIDIA have already tried to ban it

            • +1

@Look Up: oh yes, based certain countries

            • +2

@Look Up: Very true. Nvidia's lead in AI is more due to a software than a hardware lead. Much of AI is locked into CUDA.

Their GPU to GPU interconnects are better than the competition in the hardware field, however.

            • +1

@Look Up: You probably don't even need the CUDA transition layers, but to have a good quality AMD/other backend implementation for major ML frameworks.

            • +3

@Look Up: China has perfected mass production, the art of producing things at a super low cost. Quality is inferior, but 75% of the performance for 25% of the cost of a Nvidia card would be a bargain. It's not capitalism that lifts people out of poverty, but technology and efficient mass production processes. Commies can do that, fascists can, military dictatorships and monarchies too. Maybe even theocracies. Democratic capitalist countries don't have a monopoly on mass production.

Got the 4080 version of this Galax card for $1749 closer to launch, that was the sweet spot and I'm glad I got it when I did and have been enjoying 4K gaming for a year now on it. But the 4090 is just needlessly expensive, even if it was $2200

Definitely wouldn't be sinking that kinda money into it at this stage with a 5080/90 probably coming later this year

  • +2

The devil… It calls to me.

  • Sucks to shell out even more money if your high end tv doesn't have g-sync. Not the same but similar, my 4080 gets screen tearing but can't afford to switch to a new g-sync tv.

    • +13

      TV? You're supposed to use a 4090 on a 24inch 1080p monitor

      • Yes, I guess trying to run a 4k OLED is a bit too ambitious?

        • +3

Don't listen to him, Its a joke lol This is for 4k OLED Tv gaming haha, love it.

    • +3

I run my PC on a TV OLED display. Freesync works fine.

  • +8

It's been almost 2 years. Not worth it.

    • Still sold out…

      • I think the buyer will import the 4090 to the Chinese market because they have limited stock in China.

        • +1

This means it worth it if that is true

          • @flypig: Not worth it for a normal user. They bought it for selling more money.

  • +6

Damn son…… almost $3k for a 2 year old card

    • It’s only been 1.5 years since launch

    • If the 5080 releases and beats this or is close in performance but costs marginally less hopefully people understand the current trend

  • KEEP HODLING RTX 6090 due 2026

    • Nah wait for special edition RTX 6969 FUN version.

  • +2

I got this for $3099 on 01/11/2022. It was a very good price.

    • +1

      Damn son

    • I got Aorus 4090 master for the same price last year. Haha

  • +2

sorry, went out of stock since i bought one for each of my nieces and nephews.

  • +3

Does it come with a retaining wall?

  • +1

Wow people are so full of money here…..

There’s got to be a diamond studded version at 1000 times the price that people can splurge on
