I've enjoyed using these randomly at AirBnB's and the like, great for when you get distracted and rather than coming back to your cold coffee, it is still at a pleasant temperature.

Have never splurged on getting my own, until now that is, as according to the camels they appear to be the lowest price ever.

  • Is 250ml good for a latte?

    • +4

These are a bit small. They also have a 350mL version.

      • Good for a piccolo I reckon.

I'm a short long black drinker - perfect size for that

        • +3

"Short long black"? Does that cancel out and just leave black?

        • +1

A short long black is a bit longer than a long short black.

        • have u tried long black short yet

        • It's more than double the size of a piccolo glass…

    • +3

A bit small for latte. Suggest 350ml glass.

    • -1

350ml is perfect for latte, I use them everyday.
250ml is too small, I use those for a quick shot.

      • +5

250ml shot? that is one hell of a shot.

my shot is about 18ml, double shot 36ml. but your shots are very impressive at 250ml

        • +4

Just have to abstain for a while.

        • Lol, I never said it filled the whole thing, just a nice cup that's always nearby, but yeah pretty poor use in hindsight haha

      • what on earth

      • nice shot

      • +1

250ml is great if you like a small strong latte with not so much milk.

Pretty much what you get at a cafe if they serve it in a small glass.

    • +1

      Perfect size.

    • yes, this is fine for latte's and also short enough to fit under machine. lattes are about 240ml

      • Starbucks generation want their coffees half-a llitre!

        • They like a little bit of coffee with their milk

        • quantity over quality, lol

    • +1

People claiming that 250ml is too small for a latte are spouting misinformation.

250ml is more than enough, a standard small latte from a cafe should never be more than that.

If you typically order a large, that's another story.

    • +1

      I use 36ml espresso with 150ml milk

    • +1

Standard cup size in fancy cafes is between 160mL-200mL, so if you've ever had that and been satisfied, this'll do it for you

    • 250ml is actually more than the size of small sized cups of latte/cap/flat white your get from cafes. I am not sure why people are saying it's small and perfect for shots, I think 250ml is perfect for lattes with single shot and milk, or if you prefer stronger double shots with less milk (that's what I uses these for).

  • +3

are these any better than Maxwell & Williams one? The 450ml is 12$ cheaper
    https://amzn.asia/d/eYWCeIE

    • +2

I have a similar size in the bodum mug, I find it a bit big for coffee, i use it more for making iced coffee and chucking a bunch of ice in there. I definitely prefer something 250ml to 350ml for my cappuccino or latte style coffee and will choose based on how milky I want the coffee to be.

      • Picked it like a nose. Exactly how I determine my selection between 250 / 350 sizes each morning haha.

    • +1

I have all the variants and 450ml are too large to my taste. 350 are ideal.

    • Now That's a deal ty. 250ml is way too small.

      • +2

I also thought this but checking camels $17.97 is normal price. I cancelled my order.

    • I haven’t used these ones but I got the Maxwell and Williams ones when they were on sale in January and they’re excellent.

  • +3

    Maxwell & Williams 250ML Set of 2 for $10.75
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07Y7PLWB1

different brand but it's about the same, right?

    • correct, when you drop them, they both break the same. you are just paying extra for the name. i would pay extra for pyrex, but not for bodum

    • was going to post this; I bought 2 sets a few months ago. Pretty sure they're the 'good' borosilicate glass, since I've been pre-warming them with my steam nozzle, no tears yet.

  • Great price, we have the Maxwell & Williams ones ($9.98), will be interesting to see if the Bodum ones are actually better.

scientifically not worth it vs. a lid on or coaster on mug

    • +1

Yeah not sure why you're downvoted.. the real benefit of dual walled glass is in the tropics when you don't want a litre of condensation to form on the glass when having a iced latte.

      • +1

its also great for cups with no handle with lava liquid inside. benefits both hot and cold.

  • +6

Had one explode in my hand when washing that sliced me to absolute pieces and filled the sink with blood and another shatter in my dishwasher……ive gone back to mugs lol

    • I haven't had one explode in my hand yet, but I had the double walled transparent teacup, which cracked and leaked while espresso extracted into it.

Out of curiosity I tapped the glass on the inside wall away with a spoon to see how flimsy it was…there was a big chunk that was less than a mm thick.

I'll using the 7 or so remaining bodum glasses I have but never buying them again.

    • Ouch. Sorry to hear. How strong is your hand grip strength?

Just noticed they said they're dishwasher safe. I had some other off-brand ones years ago that leaked from the plug on the bottom after repeated dishwasher cycles. Found they had filled up with water inside when unloading the dishwasher. They eventually both broke inside the dishwasher one day.

      • +3

I've had a string of bodums, regular dishwashing and never had any issues
the string comes from my missus dropping them. i'm not sure if she's clumsy or she just doesn't like bodums

      • +1

. I had some other off-brand ones years ago that leaked from the plug on the bottom

My Kmart ones did that. I handwash them now, going strong 3+ years now no issues.

    • +2

Same thing here bud, 6 stitches later I've gone back to mugs.

    • Yer, I started out with six of these and only two are left. Not as dramatic as your situation thankfully, but they are delicate.
The glass needs to be thin so they don't weigh the same as two glasses.
We have always washed by hand and now we don't put them in at the start when the water is hottest. Our four failures cracked around the rim of the glass.

  • Changed to backorder.

  • +1
    • nope, i kinda own them all, and you will taste no difference. lol

the only thing you would pay extra for if it was more durable like pyrex.

      • Did you find any difference in durability between the different brands? I found some reddit posts about ikea’s glass exploding and was a little concerned.

        • I had 2 Breville ones and both smashed within a week. Meanwhile I've had some Bodum ones since 2013 still going strong

          • @cook99: Breville ones are actually Bodum ones with Breville name on it. They do say Bodum on the bottom.

            • @iamafreak: Interesting. They are different shape which may contribute to different durability, or maybe I was just unlucky. All I know is I have Bodum glasses in tact and Breville branded smashed in the bin.

              • +1

@cook99: The ones I got from Breville did say Bodum at their bottom and both of them broke within 3 months

    • Ikea:

"Each glass is mouthblown by a skilled artisan."

  • I don't like the shape of these bodum glasses prefer the slimmer design as for me it is easier to stack away in the cupboard. I'd lose to much shelf space with these ones. But definitely a good steal if you have the space

  • +1

IMO you still can't beat the Duralex Provence and Picardie for latte glasses. Classic

  • Also, we mostly use these for cold beer/cider, etc…

  • Don’t feel bad if you missed out
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/777046

  • Last set of Bodums I bought all leaked water eventually into the inner part of the glass after using in the dishwasher.
Not sure if they're dishwasher friendly? Naturally, I didn't read the packaging when I got them!

They all seemed to have a little tiny dot/circle on the underside of the glass that eventually wore away and the water seeped in.

    • They are meant to be "dishwasher" safe but I'm guessing the dishwasher would damage the rubber grommet on the underside.

  • Cheaper to get it from Kmart at $10 and they have a few different types.

  • +1

Finally received, even though order was placed before it went on backorder.

Quality is noticeably better than Maxwell & Williams, it also has a lip (not obvious in photos).

Will see if it holds up any better. The M&W is getting cloudy.
