I was originally looking at getting an Oral B Pro 3000 for my partner (like mine) but spec and feature wise, this seems very identical to it at a much lower price point. (Lithium Ion battery with 360 light.) This is different than the older 2000 series.

We both have moved on from the more expensive Philips which are not the best in durability. They are known to die prematurely (one of ours did), the buttons easily get stiff with gunk and the brush heads are shockingly overpriced.

This model seems to only come in black.

Genuine replacement brush heads cheap at Mydeal.

*12-pack 3D White $29: https://www.mydeal.com.au/12-pack-oral-b-3d-white-replacemen…

*8-pack Floss Action $27.95: https://www.mydeal.com.au/oral-b-4-pack-toothbrush-heads-flo…

Update: Asked Oral-B / P&G about the difference between the 2500x and 3000 and I was told that the difference is only the body design. Everything else is the same. Body design meaning the colour lol. So the 2500x is the black version of 3000.

  • I just nabbed this for $84 via eBay plus ($5 voucher. $89 without and via Amazon too). It appears to have a better feature set fwiw (but an electric toothbrush is really an electric toothbrush at this price - Bluetooth is largely a gimmick but I have seen people present useful arguments).
I don’t think that order comes with a travel case though, whereas this one does.

    • Yeah I saw that the other day but that one features the older body design, a larger dock, and Bluetooth which I will never use. I had Bluetooth on my Philips and never used it. And hep this one comes with a travel case.

      • Reason for my purchase is my $20 Sep 2019, Oral B Pro 2, 2000 just died. Refuses to recharge. I asked Shaver Shop for a warranty replacement under ACL but I think I’m pushing it. $20 for almost five years isn’t half bad. I guess I have the existing travel case. Is this dock really much smaller? It looks more or less the same size. Tbh when I travel I usually use a third party USB charger. Can only find USB A atm - not USB C.

        • Haha yeah 5 years for a toothbrush would be beyond expected lifetime. But I have had success soldering connections back together and getting these things going again. Usually, they get dropped and a connection severs between charging coil and battery.

        • Crazy how the older version is on sale still now at 79 discounted ha. The dock is similar minus the frame that holds the 2 spare brush heads, so it is pretty much just that elevated part of your one.

    • Picked up this one for $89 from shaver shop, thanks!

  • All in all, should i buy this one? I will be first time user of E-brush.. been sitting on fence for now like forever..

    Pls recommend 😅

I largely agree with this comment. The Pro 2 2000 is a good starting point. Anything above that is bells and whistles that won’t really make your teeth any cleaner. But you’ll be hard pressed to find a better price than this. Maybe if you’re patient. This is a fair buy - or so is the smart 5 5000 linked above. Just scroll through previous oral b deals and see how cheap they’ve gone in the past, and consider if you’re willing to wait.

Highly recommend this one. Considering this is a refresh of the 2000 series, (this is virtually a 3000 series) this is a great buy. I much prefer this than my $400 Philips DiamondClean. Also, the brush heads are much cheaper. I’ve linked above some deals from my deals with free shipping.

This has a newer body design than the Smart 5 with Bluetooth linked above which has better waterproofing and easier to see 360 light to alert you if you’re applying too much pressure.

  • Thanks for this….just picked up from CW.

Note it was marked as 'discounted to $119' on the shelf, but scanned at $74.99

  • Can anyone recommend one for kids around age 6 as well.

  • Priceline is selling the Pro 3000 for $84.99. Is that worth the $10 extra?

    • As mentioned above, I don't see any difference feature and spec-wise as I have the 3000. (except the colour) But please correct me if I am wrong.

Asked Oral-B / P&G about the difference between the 2500x and 3000 and I was told that the difference is only the body design. Everything else is the same. Body design meaning the colour lol. So the 2500x is the black version of 3000.

      • Hi mate, the 2500 is just the 2000 with a carry case. Maybe the 2500x is just the 3000 with a case as well.

The difference in body is quite significant between the 2000 and 3000 - the 3000 is markedly smaller, and has an extra medium speed mode but that's about it.

When they said the body design, did they confirm if it was indeed the smaller version or if it was just the actual colour?

It’s just the colour. I have the 2500x and 3000 next to each other at home. So the newly released 2500x is just the 3000 in black.

          Both have travel cases.

          • @ozchobie: Ah mate, brilliant. Thank you.

The smart 5000 has 5x cleaning modes vs 3x and adds bluetooth. The 2500x and 3000 has a slightly different design to the smart 5000 and adds a travel case. All have a lithium iron battery.

      • Is this correct?
        - smart 5000 has bluetooth
        - 2500x NO bluetooth
        - 3000 NO bluetooth

        • Correct. I doubt you’ll ever use the Bluetooth and extra cleaning modes in the long run :D

          • @ozchobie: Yes, I don't actually want bluetooth.
Don't want any EMF radiating near my head.

            • @sintro: I guess it doesn't matter. BT can be deactivated on all Oral-b toothbrushes.

**Is it possible to turn Bluetooth off on my Oral-B electric toothbrush?*'
Bluetooth can be deactivated on all our toothbrushes that have this feature. You can easily turn the Bluetooth off on your Genius 8000 whenever you choose do so by following the simple steps below.

Press the on/off button and the mode button simultaneously for 3 seconds to disable the interfaces completely.
Turn the toothbrush handle back on, you should now notice that the Bluetooth icon just above the power bar is now turned off, meaning your Bluetooth is deactivated.
You can reactive the Bluetooth anytime, by following the same steps and you will know it is back on when the icon is lit up.
I thought you may also like to know that the Bluetooth equipped in our toothbrush is Bluetooth Smart, also called low energy. This means that it uses significantly less energy than traditional Bluetooth and the running time of your battery should only be minimally affected.
