  • It's clearly an office machine, but OLED would be risky for office work?

    • … but OLED would be risky for office work?

You need to take the necessary precautions - dark mode on everything, reduce the number of static elements and active screensaver

      • Otherwise screen won't last?

        • Screen will last and doesn't "die", but you may see uneven patches and ghosted elements

If you're going to be using any OLED laptop for constant 9-5 office work with white backgrounds, hooking it up to an external monitor is the smart play

Reduce the number of static elements? Windows has a taskbar and people use excel/word. That's not practical. Which is my concern, because I have family wanting a laptop and the only deals lately seem to be OLED. I went to centrecom thinking they might have a 14" vivobook without OLED on sale but no such luck

          That's not practical.

          Says who?

You've made the initial assumption "It's clearly an office machine…" so are you now representing everyone who buys OLED laptops for non-office use like media consumption, programming, CAD/content presentation etc?

Which is my concern, because I have family wanting a laptop…

          So what's the issue?

You understand the huge advantages of OLED also come with some inherent disadvantages that can be mitigated with the necessary precautions

If your family members are neither willing to learn or follow these precautions, then buy another display type - it's not rocket science

…and the only deals lately seem to be OLED.

You need to look harder - display type is listed by every experienced deal poster:

I have been using an OLED screen on my laptop for the last 2 years, with no issues whatsoever. No dark theme anywhere, I am completely ignoring the fact it is OLED

  • Tiny battery kinda ruins an otherwise solid package. You'd think they could've found some room in a chassis that big.

I'm interested in this deal. Just how bad is this battery? And how would it compare for example to a 71Wh 4-cell?

  • Can the Wifi Card be upgraded to Wifi 6?

  • Do ASUS still make laptops with the touchpad that can be toggled into a light up numpad?

    • Not seeing that as much. I guess not many wanted it but i can see it being useful for some.

    • Zenbook 14

  • So which is better? This or the Lenovo ThinkBook 16 CU5-125H. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/839612

  • How much RAM will it take? Apart from the decent panel for the price it seems to be bit, meh. Can anyone recommend something with a 15.6"+ screen that can be used outdoors,, pref taller than 16:9, at least 32GB RAM pref upgradable beyond that, good battery life, build quality that will last. Don't mind something old or with a slower processor provided the battery can easily be replaced by someone not hardwarily inclined.

  • Does not support dual monitors as theres only one HDMI port. Thought the USB C would output video but it does not. Had to buy an adapter from Amazon for $64 to extend displays. Just an FYI.
