    • If paying by Amazon Gift Card + Westpac, will cashback be applied?

      • yes. its stackable at amazon

  • I NEED westpac account. What do you guys use or recommend that has no fees?

    • I've just got an Westpac Choice account that I (plan to) transfer my pay in and out of once a month (only just opened the account because of these deals)

Only other option that I'm aware of is if you're a youth or have a student or concession card AFAIK.

    • I also have westpac choice, employer pays salary into westpac, and I move it to my offset account every pay.

    • $2k a month to avoid $5 fee - but you can take the money out straight away. I have westpac mortgage so I move $2k into the everyday then insta transfer it into the mortgage.

Does anyone know if I can redraw $2k from my westpac mortgage and that will count?

Westpac bonus pays on 0% categories, as confirmed by @gotyourback

      • Legit?

      • This has never been the case before. Please link to @gotyourback comments which confirm this exception.

I think you may be confused by the recent $3 bonus offer for Amazon purchases via ShopBack.

        • +1

@DoctorCalculon Looking back at previous offers, you are right. This 8% bonus would exclude the 0% categories. The $3 bonus includes though.

          • @Hiphopopotamus: Thanks for the sauce. The plot thickens.

          • @Hiphopopotamus: They also write this:

If you have trouble with this, let me know as this is still pretty new so I'd like to keep eyes on it.

So, @gotyourback is asking us to have a lot of faith in 0% categories tracking for Westpac bonus. When it doesn't work which has been the case with such edge cases in the past, we have to chase @gotyourback.

Instead, I would like to hear from folks for whom this new feature has actually worked.

@DoctorCalculon: It's tiring chasing up these cashbacks. Will pass on this deal.
I've a Chemist Warehouse upsized cashback (with 3 orders) that tracked incorrectly last week. I was hoping ShopBack would fix the error automatically but that's in my dreams. I will have to chase this up with gotyourback again.

        • It will be good if we can get a confirmation from gotyourback about this.

Wonder if it’s okay to pay part with gift card balance and the rest with Westpac?

    • yes its ok

  • Per person or per transaction?

    • +1

      per purchase

  • It was touch and go for me as to whether to use my gift card credits or the westpac 8% (computers are standard 0%).

    • +1

You can use both at the same time.

      • Ahh I see, nice! Someone asked/said that the regular cashback is excluded from gift cards, is this so?

Still waiting on my Westpac bonus cashback from last year. The standard cashback tracked but they are still "investigating" the Wespac bonus 4 months later even after I provided proof it was paid with my linked Westpac card….

Will this work to get 8% off Amazon gift cards?

  • Is there a way to specify how much Amazon balance to use?

    • Unfortunately I don’t think there is which is quite annoying!

The 0% pantry items that I wish to buy are priced good enough (and needed) that I won't rant if the 8% bonus doesn't come through! But I will report back on my experience once tracking does/doesn't come through.

Can someone be kind enough to remind me about the rules regarding split payments between Amazon gift cards and my Westpac card - is it right that putting any (small) amount on the Westpac card (and the rest on GCs) will still trigger the full cashback amount?

is it right that putting any (small) amount on the Westpac card (and the rest on GCs) will still trigger the full cashback amount?

Correct. Same rule applies for eBay and Apple. However, not for Chemist Warehouse.

Amazon and eBay tracking takes about a day, or longer depending on which batch the tracking falls under.
So, we probably won't hear about your experience until this deal is well and truly over.

Thanks Doc. Yes, the deal will have expired, but we can add my experience to the record-book for the next time this deal rolls around.

      • Literally in here to find out how long Amazon Shopback takes to track lol. So definitely worth noting experience.

Amazon I checked out a few hours ago and no tracking yet.

eBay has been within a few hours for me so far, and I've done 3-4 in the last week (a newcomer to Shopback)

It normally tracks by 7pm the next day (so for this one it will be today). Westpac bonus works on very small amounts in conjunction with gift cards. Has for me on all past ones.

          • @wdw: Thanks for the tip! I was starting to worry it wouldn't track lol.

The gift card tip is best applied for the lower cashback items no doubt, as gift cards are normally excluded from regular cashback yes?

The potato ricer I got last night was 10% cashback + 8% Westpac so far better off copping the whole amount

            • +1

@OZBMate8911: Gift cards can be used in conjunction with cashback, did it again earlier this week (without Westpac bonus and tracked as expected). No matter the amount that I’m aware of, in saying that I’ve never gone over $300 or so $ and with Westpac about $200. But I see no reason why it wouldn’t work. You just need to ensure you pay some of the order with the Westpac card. The GC use terms haven’t changed that I’m aware of.

Oh and what I meant by small amounts was you use GC on most of it and put a small amount on Westpac . It’s not the value of the item that matters it’s what gets paid by what.

Also if you do multiple orders and apply another Gift Card you need to be careful because it may adjust the previous order and prevent payment with Westpac. Always wait for Amazon to process the Westpac amount on your card before making another order. I’ve seen this reported by others and always made sure to do it this way.

    Update

Both my transactions successfully tracked, and the Westpac bonuses also tracked and were calculated at the 8% cashback rate, including on the 0% Amazon category.

Paid with a mixture of gift card cash balance and a small amount on my Westpac card.

Note to self: If planning to do S&S, buy two separate gift cards to handle each transaction separately. Had to execute some nimble moves to get around this constraint!
