If you're in the market for a portable monitor this 14" one from ASUS ZSUS is really good value for just under A$90. Especially when it has 1440p resolution and 350cd/m² brightness. I personally use these alongside my laptop when travelling for work and given the small size it can easily fit in my backpack.

Featuring a 14" IPS display with 2160x1440 resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB colour gamut, 350cd/m² brightness, HDR, 178° wide viewing angle, dual speakers and weighs 500g.

There's two USB-C ports for display/power and power input, PD passthrough charging, Mini HDMI and a headphone jack. A portable stand, Mini HDMI to HDMI cable, USB-A to USB-C cable, USB-C to USB-C cable and charger are included.

  • Any idea if a laptop can power 2 of these monitors and run 3 screens at once? Laptop has 3 USB-C ports - reserve one for charging, other two to power these screens :/

    • +1

Yes, as long as your USB C ports support DisplayPort Alt Mode and you have an extra USB C cable that is able to transmit video signals.

      • Great, thanks! Yes I believe all of my 3 USB-C ports do. I can use either 3 to charge the laptop and drive my 34" curved display at the same time.

  • Does this remember brightness settings after unplugging power or display?
I have a similar one from Aliexpress and it doesnt recall settings and very painful to keep re-applying, as I move around with the portable display a lot.

    • Mine doesn't either, it's quite frustrating but I usually end up using it for a few hours at a time and not that often

    Zsus sounds imitating Asus

      Soniq sounds imitating Sony.

        Palsonic sounds imitating Panasonic.

  • Hey @Clear do you think a screen like this (but a more premium version) could be used as a wall mounted screen rather than using my bulky dell?

    • Yep definitely. These portable ones tend to go up to 18.5".

    • I.e. this one for US$89.73 with coupon 24AN10

  • I need something like this on the wall but with an os like android so it is effectively a good quality tablet. The os device needs to be really small that sits behind the monitor inside the gyprock. Any suggestions?

    • I'd find a single board arm-based computer and install android.

      • Like a Pi you mean?

        • +1

Yeah. Pi's are probably the easiest to buy and have the most community projects, but there are also other SBC's out there. Then pair with a touchscreen monitor and you're set. Thing is, you may end up spending more than on a complete tablet solution, just keep that in mind (unless you need the larger screen size).

  • It says "Note: Touch functionality is only available when you purchase a touch style" would anyone know if this is just any stylus? Or something else?

    • The listing used to have a touchscreen model available and it's not anymore. You won't get a touchscreen if you order this.

  • has anyone experience 2 extended monitors with bracket, something like this?

missus wants it but I think they are useless, lol.

    • That looks… rather dumb & impractical.

For one, it is far too expensive. You can get three portable monitors with far better specs for about the same price.

For two, this setup is going to take up a ton of desk space with zero flexibility for repositioning and adjustments. What if you only have enough space for one extra screen?

And regardless of whether it is able to support its own weight, do you really want to strap on so much added bulk to a fragile laptop screen with fragile hinges?

      • Cheers man, exactly my thoughts

  • Would you need a an EU to AU plug converter (it says EU plug on the listing)?

    • Any USB charger will work. Even the USB port on the computer is often enough.

      • Ah yes gotcha, idk why that just skip my head that it can also be powered by the USB…

    • Not necessarily. You can power the monitor directly through any USB C port or USB A port capable of 5V/1A.

  • Might you have find any sweet spot deals in yr travels on something a bit larger/higher res (2560)?

  • It is back in stock

  • Anyone found a good case that fits this?

    • +1

I've ordered some 13 inch laptop sleeves from Aliexpress. Let's find out in a few weeks.
