    How does this compare to:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/872388

The Dell has speakers, but anything else that matters?

    • +4

The Dell monitor can pivot between landscape and portrait which is a plus for me

Have a 2721DS and 2721D and happy with both of them.

  • Would this work on a M2macbook air? Or will the resolution be all jagged?

    • Mac prefers 4k or 5k resolutions.

      • +17

Apple prefers you spend a lot more money than this.

        • +1

Yeah, if you want a dell it’s the ultrasharp U2723QE 4K, factory calibrated, laptop charging and DisplayPort, and a huge dock (I have it and it is awesome, but not for gaming). But usually over $800.
Or you could go the 6K U3224KB. $3600.

Both a lot cheaper than the Apple 5K Studio Display $2400 or the 6K XDR $9300.

And if brave (mixed reviews) Samsung Viewfinity S9 5K at $2300 but have seen it as low as $1600.

          • +2

@entropysbane: Lowest I've seen the Viewfinity S9 5K was ~$1100 from Officeworks as well as through Samsung Education with a trade-in bonus for any old monitor. Currently on sale for ~$1395 from Scorptec and digidirect.

Recommend looking at the newly released 27" 5K Asus ProArt PA27JCV for $1200 RRP: https://www.pccasegear.com/products/67438/asus-proart-pa27jc…

            5K, 99% DCI-P3, 95% Adobe RGB, factory calibrated (ΔE < 2) etc.

Asus also have a 32" 6K display coming later this year, and Benq is releasing a 27" 5K.

It'll work fine, it'll just be at lower resolution. The picture will still look really good, just not as crisp and sharp as a 4K/Retina display.

I have a bunch of colleagues with Macbooks (mostly M1 & M2 Pros) in my office that all have 2K Dell monitors - not this model but equivalent in terms of resolution.

      • To add to this, I use an M1 Pro with 2 of these monitors and they're fine. Not as crisp as the main display but it's not an issue for me.

        • Nice, may I ask what's your setup to connect to 2 monitors please? I keep reading I will only be able to connect 1 monitor to my Macbook Air M2 because of some limitation apple have on multiple monitors for M1/M2 - not sure if true

          • +2

@carboncider: Natively they don't support more than 1 external monitor I believe. I use a DisplayLink dock (Plugable UD-6950H) to connect both monitors and my peripherals. DisplayLink uses software to allow more displays than native.

There may be better solutions, but DisplayLink was supported at my work and suits my needs.

Downsides are initial cost, some battery drain and some performance impact (haven't had any real issues with it though).

@Skumzy: Thanks Skumzy thats great info.

              • +1

@carboncider: I have 3 monitors connected to my M2 Pro Macbook, using a pretty standard Dell Displaylink dock. 2 of them are connected via Displayport, and the 3rd is via a VGA to USB adapter.

Then you'll need to install the Displaylink Macos drivers.
                https://www.synaptics.com/products/displaylink-graphics/down…

It can get fiddly with these now using Airplay since the monitors can turn itself off like a rest , once a day or so. And sometimes they don't turn back on and need a bit of re-connecting the dock's usb or re-starting the displaylink manager.

I use 27” 1440p monitor with MacBook Air m1 and hackintosh and looks great. Have tried 4K 32” and the scaling isn’t right and when I adjust settings looks slightly janky (in saying that the 4K monitor is the lesser quality Phillip’s one that was popular as a refurb on Ozbargain).

If you want retina quality gotta pay big bucks. The graph linked below is helpful.

Wondering if black friday might provide better options.

  • +1

I just bought the S2722QC, wanted the 4k and USB PD.

    $322.73
    Thanks OP

    • Watch out for flicker if you are rocking a m1 Mac.

How does this monitor pair with the Dell S2721DGF?

    • I would like to know as well

    • +1

I will let you know in 2 days when it arrives

      • How did you go?

        • +1

Yeah I love it, pairs quite well with the adjustable height and screen angle. The border around the screen is also roughly the same width as the S2721DGF. Can definitely recommend as a second monitor.

          • @Jrid: Is the resolution size the same on both monitors? For example excel files will look the same size across both monitors?

Do you use a docking station with both monitors? Any recommendations?

            • +1

@tempo: Yeah the resolution is the same, I don't have a docking station, just plugged both monitors into my graphics card and it works perfectly.

  • It has a very versatile stand

  • Really tempted!
Currently have a 2 x 24" setup on a corner desk. Will it be a worthwhile upgrade?
Mostly used for CAD and office (emails, word, etc.) work.
Edit: Wont be using the stand. It will mount on monitors arm.

  • Is this significantly better than a Lenovo L27Q-4A for $247? https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/lenovo-27-…

Since I'm regional, buying from Dell is a bit of a hassle and I figure the $20 extra might be worth it for convenience of returns etc…

  • When the techradar coupon expires?

  • what people think about this Dell vs that Msi ? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/869817
(the msi is back at that price and plus delivery is pretty much same as this Dell)

  • +1

Ended up getting this rather than 4k one due to refresh rate. Theres an msi option, but this one seems to have better stand and speakers.

I plan to mount a mini n100 pc to the back, but with these monitors, the vesa mount seems to be part of the screen, so how would you go about mounting a small pc to the back with a vesa mount? Or should I just try and use some kind of adhesive solution to stick to the back?
