On sale is this Mini PC that's identical to the popular Kamrui AK2 Plus Mini PC at a lower price and no evidence of any malware infections (different company). As for downsides compared to the Kamrui you're obviously going to miss out on the Amazon AU warranty with the ~A$45.72 saving.

Like the other this features the Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake N100 CPU with 4 cores & 4 threads (up to 3.4GHz), 16GB DDR4 SODIMM RAM, 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD, 2.5" SATA port, 2x HDMI 2.0, 1x Gigabit Ethernet, 2x USB 3.0, 2x USB 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack, WiFi ac and Bluetooth 4.2.

The RAM and storage is upgradeable and it can be VESA mounted. As always it's safest to install your own fresh copy of Windows (or Linux) onto these Mini PCs.

Alternatively you can get the 8GB/256GB variant for US$98.67 (~A$150.64).

I got this last year and its replaced my rpi4 for home assistant. Has not missed a beat.

    • You think the 256gb is ok for home assistant and plex?

      • +1

Just need to work out if 256gb is adequate space for your plex library, home assistant can run on basically anything lmfao

    • N100+Coral+ProxMox+Frigate+HA works like a dream.
No point buying Odroid, RPI etc, just go for low power Intel with the video acceleration and all is good

      • BTW is it hard to get coral for a reasonable price in Australia these days? The USB seems v expensive but maybe a card would fit in one of these?

      • Hey i just got my firebat. Any tips on who to watch for tutorial to install all this.

  • This is a ridiculous deal!

  • +2

damnn if only this had dual nic, would of been awesome for pfsense.

    • +1

VLAN & firewall on a stick

  • -1

    Firebat
no evidence of any malware infections

So not from Wuhan lab studying fireants & fruitbats. 😋

USB 3.0, WiFi ac and Bluetooth 4.2

my only hesitation is the older spec hardware. But the N100 & 16gb ram would mean it's twiddling it's thumbs most of the tine for a Plex, home assistant, sabnzdb and arr sort of setup

  • OOS? Link appears broken for me in 3 browsers

    • Do you have a VPN on?

      • No

    OR Dell Wyse 5070
    for Home Assistant???

    • +3

That deal is OOS. This Firebat is more powerful, but if the Wyse has enough grunt for what you need it is fanless, low TPD and probably cheaper elsewhere.

  • There is $20.45 tax?!

    • US$12.85. AliExpress tends to calculate it pre-discount usually so it's only off by 78c.

I'd probably pay the extra for an amazon delivered version. Warranty on AliExpress is essentially zero.

I’ve never had an issue but I buy a lot from them. I just jump in chat and ask for refund and it’s always approved immediately. Maybe because it’s always physical damage and I provide pics? Either way I’ve done it about 15 times.

      • Please tell us you have ordered much more than 15 times.

        • +1

I've received 98 orders this year and only 2 had issues. Broken and non delivery - both instantly refunded.

  • Is the wifi card upgradeable on this one?

    • Yeah this is what keeps stopping me as I want built-in wifi 6

  • I plan to use this for regular web browsing and streaming 4k content. I might also use it with Microsoft Visual Code for light coding projects. Do you think this would be suitable for such purposes?

    • Yes, easily.

      • +1

        Thanks,

Just concerned that the CPU is Celeron, hehe

  • Can these be configured to automatically fire into plex in full screen mode when the device is booted up?

And if so will the interface respond to input from a standard tv remote?

    • TV remote via HDMI CEC isn't supported afaik. Outside of Intel nuc, I don't know what else supports CEC.

      Drag the shortcut into shell:startup

  • this Mini PC that's identical to the popular Kamrui AK2 Plus Mini PC at a lower price and no evidence of any malware infections (different company)

    well isn’t that convenient!

  • Is it worth paying extra for a ddr5 model given this is single channel ddr4, use case is mainly web browsing and 4k +/- HDR YouTube.

  • The 16/512GB version seems to be sold out ("This product can't be shipped to your address. Select another product or address"). The 8/256GB version is available. Hopefully they will get more stock?

  • Mine failed to clear Customs today at NSW port. Anyone in the same boat?

    • +1

Completely normal and it'll will clear.

    • +1

Yeah mine got hit with the same. Hopefully doesn't take too long to clear

    • +1

Mine arrived 30mins ago… Will fire it up tonight

      • Came with Windows 11 Pro and NO virus or Malware.
I put an additional 1TB 2.5" SATA internally and 2 x 5TB drives connected externally for my NAS.
Changed the BIOS to run on power restoration/failure.

My only gripe is because of it location, I would like to disable the RGB for run (blue) / sleep (red) because of where its located.

I use Universal Media Server as my DLNA server on this but don't do transcoding as I use CCwGTV as my DLNA clients and they do all the heavy lifting.

        So far, so good.

  • Damn, looks like it's down to $110USD~ ($168AUD~) shipped atm. Guessing Aliexpress doesn't do any price guarantees :(

  • The 256 and 512GB are back in stock for those waiting… i got a 512GB for AUD$173.15 total
