This is the upgraded version, which has solved the interference issues our old version may cause to some garage door remotes. If you still find it interference with your original garage door remotes, please contact [email protected] for help. We have a solution for you.

  • Compatibility Check: Please check if your garage door model is in the compatibility list on meross official web. Also you can contact us to confirm the compatibility.

These units are HomeKit/Carplay compatible, so a great option if you want to run this device offline for security/privacy reasons without any cloud dependencies. They are a cinch to install as well, mine only took me 30 minutes.

Meross also has a 3-door version with longer Wifi reception if that is something you're after too.

  • I wish there was a way to upgrade the non homekit version to homekit without having to buy more units 😫

    • +1

You could use HomeAssistant with HomeBridge that would do it, but it's not as seamless and can lead to issues if your HAOS crashes. But an option!

      • +3

It's an option, On the whole Home Assistant is very stable… I use all my ZHA lights this way.

        Homekit Device, not Homekit Bridge.

I have it and it works great.
The only downside to this is my wife now knows when I leave the house.

    • Or anyone driving into your garage not wanting to be seen.

  • +2

Have had one for nearly 2 years, it's a good unit, cannot fault it. But if you have this and connects to Google Home etc, just make sure there are no Google Assistant near a window or inside your garage, as randoms can try to open your garage door from outside the house.

    • Agree! I have a HomePod Mini and I thought the exact same thing but I think you can deactivate that. But I still feel it's far more secure than a standard remote.

      • Apple actually requires it be personally identified.
For instance a phone request to Siri will require you to unlock your phone.
If using Apple Watch then it will work ok.

I haven't tried HomePod, but I think it would require your phone to be unlocked too.

        • +1

You can't open it with homepod, if you try it tells you to do it on your phone (though it does send a notification to your phone when you try).

          • @Brobert: Great to know! Seems quite secure then. Hasn't been a worry for me though.

    • I have this linked to alexa. It can close the garage door with any voice command. But to open the garage door it requires voice password unless the random people know your voice password.

    • as randoms can try to open your garage door from outside the house

Hey.. this is lock picking lawyers.. make sure to change the language of your AI to Espanol if you are in Australia.

I’ve had mine installed for two years now and it has worked flawlessly. Meross support is great, they sent me instructions on how to wire it for my particular garage opener.

I love how it comes up on Apple carplay as you are driving up to your house.

    • +1

Yes, I completely agree that it works great and also being integrated with CarPlay.

    • my wife would love that. any links on how to get that to happen?

  • anybody tried this on B&D garage? Cheers

    • ah just found in amazon, seems its compatible

  • Question for people who own it - do the old remotes for the garage still work?

    • +1

      Yes

    • +1

Yes they can, this works as a hardwired switch and supplements the old remote.

  • Have been working great for 6months on old merlin 430r with big remote.

  • I remember reading somewhere that you cant open it with siri unless your phone is on the same wifi network.
Is this the case? I dont own a homepod.

    • +2

Yes, you need a HomePod or AppleTV to act as a "server" in your house if you want to be able to control your home devices over the internet.

    • +1

You can do it remotely, you don't need to connect via wifi. But if you want to use Siri and Homekit you require a HomePod Mini/Apple TV. This acts as a 'hub' in your house and speaks to the remote if the phone isn't home.

If you use the Meross app instead of Homekit you don't need a Homepod, although this doesn't have the Siri integration. I'd pick up a cheap Homepod off marketplace and start building a smart home!

      • Is that the same requirement to have a homepod/appletv for carplay too? or does carplay connect to the meross app instead?

        • You can do it either way, depends on how you want it integrated :) The Meross app works without a Homepod/Homekit hub, just depends on how you want it to work.

        • Sorry I realised I misread your message. CarPlay requires HomeKit so you’ll need a HomePod or AppleTV to enable that.

Got this for over a year now…and installed another one on me mates. Works flawlessly.
Now at times the unit may not work so just turn off and on again and it will work fine. installed a wifi plug instead so anytime I can reset power with lil effort.

    • Usually this is a DHCP problem with the router not managing long-term IPs well, if you assign it a static IP it should work flawlessly.

  • +1

Bought 2 for both my Chamberlain CR655MYQ (Bunnings). Can't see if it's compatible but will flick support an email

  • +1

Any alternatives from non Chinese owned companies?

    • Not that I know of. If it helps you can run this one local only with internet blocked if you use HomeKit. Or via the app via LAN mode if your phone is on the same wifi.

      • Thanks, blocking internet access is a good compromise

  • Can this work without wifi?

  • I have one works great, i also have their powerpoint adapters and they all integrate with Homekit even without their app

  • I have B & D door, and use the google assistant throughout the house, am I fine to get the non homekit version?

    Is homekit for apple?

    • Yep you'll be fine with the non-Homekit version. Google Home works on the base unit.

      • Thanks mate

  • Do these work well using geo location? Also thinking if this can somehow work with the multi dimmer from Philips Hue.

  • I'm not sure if I need Homekit or not what is the difference?

  • Does this show state, door open or door closed?

    • Yes it does if you install the included Reed Switch

  • +2

Got mine delivered today. Set up was straight forward. Half hour to get it all done.

  • Is there a way to tell if the roller door finishes closing because the unit triggered the sensor?

I can't figure out if the door is closed because the sense it triggered it or if it just finished closing.

    • +1

It has a reed switch included which is what tells the unit if it’s open or closed. It’s not from software. If you’re having issues with the status check the magnets are close to each other and test.

  • I bought one of these but having troubles using it with Apple Watch. I need to ask Siri 2 or 3 times before garage will open. The first couple of times I get garage has failed to respond. Any ideas?

    • Sounds like a wifi issue on either your watch or garage opener. Does your garage opener have a static IP set and does it have good range to your router?

      • I’m not sure about ip address. It has good range as router is on opposite wall.
Works fine everytime from iPhone using Siri just never works with Apple Watch first time, sometimes takes 4 attempts.
I have updated firmware on garage opener, Apple Watch and iPhone. Reset garage opener and re setup but still having same issue.

Would buying an Apple TV or Apple Home pod mini and using this as a hub help do you think?

  • I've seen the wofea garage controllers for ~1/4 of the price of this meross here on Ozbargain and wondering what's the difference between the two? They both seem to boast the same features / functions etc with their own apps too.

  • Found this wofea controller that seems to do the same job? for heaps cheaper, around 12.5 usd. Someone may wish to post it separately. EU plug.
