AT A GLANCE
An asymmetric shelter designed to protect you from the sun and wind while camping and enjoying the outdoors.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Solstice Shelter is designed to provide wind protection and shade at the beach, the campsite — and wherever great weather takes you. Its PE-coated waterproof fly has been UVE tested to 95+ for effective sun protection. The waterproof floor is PU-coated, and colour-coded poles and sleeves make pitching a breeze.

An asymmetric design provides protection from the wind at the back while still allowing for a large entrance at the front. The height of the entrance is 2.65m, and standing room is assured thanks to a floating ceiling that measures 2m in the middle. Three mesh doors offer ventilation whichever way the shelter is pitched, but please note that they aren't waterproof.

Tested and rated in accordance with the AS4174:2018 standard. When shade fabric is used for purposes such as a shade structure for your protection, please note the ultraviolet effectiveness (UVE) may be less than the measured value due to variations such as: design, height and size of the structure, stretching of the fabric, direction of sunlight, distance between you and the fabric, and the physical location of where you are within the structure (e.g. at the edge or centre). We recommend you also use sun protection lotion.

First thought on the thumbnail…"redbull tent…noice"

  • Looks like a bit of a PITA to set up.

    • Arguably easier than a cheap heavy gazebo, esp. if you've set up a tent before.

    • Don't think so. 2 poles front to back, one along the opening and then just the one to stick the front out. Just a somewhat typical dome design really.

Having said that, I'm not too sure on the use of this over just a normal gazebo. It would obviously pack down much smaller, but I believe the advantages would end there.

People probably want something that can be used all year round instead of just on the solstices…

  • Does anyone have any experience with this?
I'm tempted to get it for beach and park pinic use over a gazebo, I like that it has a wall so it can be positioned to face the sun.

    • I dont have one but it looks like more tent style so it will need pegs to hold it down

The frame might flex more as opposed to bend and snap like cheap gazebos in high wind

Just a different way to go about it, you can get walls for gazebos, just depends what you prefer, DYOR

fyi most of the cheap ones would be ok in very light rain, but once they pool it will drip, which might be fine unless your camping and have stuff stored under it

  • Here’s a way cheaper alternative ($74.99) from Anaconda…
