Title on ad states rain fly but not pictured or listed anywhere else, assume it doesnt come with one but a $6 tarp from bunnings/kmart etc should be ok for light rain

Camel says it was listed for $59 but realistically the comparables are $25

No idea how your back will fair after a night in this, add the cost of a chiro visit if you have a bad back

so that do not worry you will fall down from this hammock

    Seems risky :)

Also, the obfuscation on the face of the kid one of the 2 reviews is next level.

    • Lol

    • that kid looks like hed be more comfortable sleeping on a rock

    • Won't happen if you get the hangle right.

    • Imagine the cord breaks and there's a croc waiting underneath! 🤯🐊

Literally just bought one of these from Kathmandu on clearance for $40 after my $10 birthday voucher
It was listed at $119 full price. I think I'm happy with the extra security from being a Kathmandu one being a big boi

I like the fourth image where it shows your farts just blasting straight through the fabric.

    • Those are 'night gusts' 💨

Occasionally, very occasionally, a new ozbargain joke emerges. This has instant classic written all over it. Thank you @Captain Hindsight

  • Thanks OP thought I’d give it a go.

For those who have never slept in a hammock: you'll need something to insulate underneath the hammock (underquilt or sleeping pad). Sleeping bags compress against your body and the hammock to a point that it provides little warmth for your back. Tarps are not only for water but also for wind. I also use a sleeping bag and sometimes thermals in summer because I find it too cold to sleep comfortably.

You should also be looking for a sleeping hammock that is designed to be slept at a diagonal because you want a straight back while sleeping. I would assume all camping hammocks are designed this way?

Yep excellent point. I have used a cheap Kmart picnic blanket for this. Fuzzy on one side, water / windproof on the other. I use it fuzzy side in.

Like this, but the one I have is slightly smaller.

      • cool thanks for the idea for the blanket with two different sides, I might try it out sometime. I have only wild hammock camped while travelling oversees so I usually have: hammock, 3-season underquilt, tarp, smallest summer sleeping bag I have. It fits about 1/4-1/3rd of my carry on luggage / one bag setup. I also pick up cheap aluminum stakes when I got over there because I don't think they are carry on safe.

  • These style hammocks are decent considering the price. Though quality seems variable based on reviews.

If you are tall, get a 300cm version (often called double, or 118") rather than the 260cm like this deal.

Also mozzies will bite through the hammock material when laying in it, so spray the underside with aeroguard. Or get a hammock without the netting, and buy a separate net that goes over the whole thing like a bag.

100% anything from china and camping, test it in the garden a few times before you rely on it

Even with named branded stuff you should at least give it a test run, hose it down to check water proofing then let it dry properly before packing

      • I would do the same with any brand from any country.

    Back to $39.99 unfortunately.

  • Got 2 of these for $10 each from Kogan back then, looked the same but under brand Komodo. Haven't tried them yet but look okay.

  • I’ve had this exact hammock from AliExpress for 6 or 7 years and it’s been quite good. Well worth it for the price

Perfect for setting up one in the local park and then renting it out via airbnb as "a bespoke adventure"
