Not really a bargain when other popular deals are under $30 + delivery like Lime Blue.

I tried the Aldi Colombia for $18.99 / 1kg & it was very good. There are a few comments in this post that said it's good as well.

    • +6

I disagree, but it really depends on the quality of the coffee. 3 varieties for $35 is good value. Just need someone to comment on how good it tastes :P

Also don't compare prices to a supermarket brand, that's disingenuous. Fair enough if you like that, but it's in a different category to a specialised roaster.

      • I never compared it, just said it was very good.

        • +3

Okay, you mentioned it in your reply after stating it wasn't a bargain. So definitely seems like a comparison.

          • +1

@fLaMePrO: First paragraph was the comparison, 2nd was just a statement.

            • +2

@WatchNerd: I'm a big fan of Aldi, but their beans absolutely do not hold a candle compared to freshly roasted beans from the likes of LimeBlue and Direct Coffee. Have tried a few different SO's from Aldi, and they've all fallen considerably short of the mark. That said, it really depends on what you're looking for from a cup of coffee, if you want a cup that's passable - Aldi will get the job done, but if you want something that can compete with the best cafes, Aldi beans aren't it.

We are all allowed to be bargain police, that's what the comment section is for.

Didn't know there was a need for you to assume the role of the bargain police on this site.

EVERYONE is the bargain police on here. It is NOT up to you to belittle people and shame them into voting or not voting on your deals. This has the whole "We will seek legal action for negative comments" vibe about it.

I'm sure people are smart enough to determine if something is worth buying

Correct… You know why?? Because we are ALL the "deal police".

but we certainly don't need to know about it.

You do know how the internet works, yeah? It's open discourse. People are generally allowed to share their likes and dislikes.

If you are worried about one comment about Aldi branded coffee and fear that it may affect your brand image or sales, then I suggest you either up your game or drop out of the coffee supply market.

Hey Ignite Coffee, is your coffee as bad as your customer service?

Love trying new roasters on OzBargain, but not with this attitude - consider me a lost customer. Go read LimeBlue's threads and learn what exemplary customer service looks like.

          Hey Poppintags

I have not previously taken the bait of the keyboard warriors who feel the need to jump in on all my posts with some negative comment or Aldi comparison without ever trying the product.

Unfortunately, we all have our limits.

Anyway, from now on I learnt to do as Taylor Swift says
"The haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off (hoo-hoo-hoo)

          • +3

@ignitecoffee: They aren't "keyboard warriors", they're people discussing their experience of coffee and value, which is literally the entire purpose of this website. If you think your coffee is better than Aldi's beans, then explain why it is. This isn't OzPleaseSayNiceThingsAboutMyCoffeeBeans.com.au, if you're posting a bargain be ready to explain why it's a bargain. The fact that you keep deflecting responsibility for your childish comment by writing yet another childish comment is doing you no favours, and is frankly very telling. All of this on a post that's meant to celebrate International Women's Day no less.

I genuinely did mean that you should look at how popular Lime Blue and Direct Coffee are on OzBargain - they offer great beans, at great prices, with great customer service and they're happy to engage with the community here, both with people who've had positive and negative experiences with their coffee and with people who haven't made the jump to speciality coffee yet. There is a huge audience waiting to be convinced to make the jump from Aldi to speciality beans - belittling them isn't how you win them over. There is also no shortage of high quality coffee beans on OzBargain - let alone across Australia, if you want people to give you a shot, then you really need to do better.

@poppingtags: 100% this.. I've gone and spent as much as $900/kg for coffee and would have easily spent the $35/kg but I really got discouraged by the OPs response to WN.
It's the reason why I now avoid normcore.. but also because their beans are crappy.

              • +3

@maverickjohn: So even after I tried to help & provided a link to the guidelines, plus 15 negs on the 1st comment the gaslighting continues. I take offence to being called a keyboard warrior & a hater. I have my limits too, neg for issue with the seller.

                • +2

@WatchNerd: And that is completely fair and falls in line with local guidelines. I really hope this seller reflects on himself

          • +3

@ignitecoffee: Doubling down on your arrogance I see… I wasn't going to vote, but I can see how you think it is appropriate to continue with your current PR trajectory.

This never ends well for companies that have a derogatory attitude towards site users. You have done far more damage to your brand by yourself than any user has done here today.

Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face, this is the very definition.

@ignitecoffee: You have lost me with your poor attitude.

Didn't know there was a need for you to assume the role of the bargain police on this site

That is a terrible attitude, an unprofessional one at that for a rep. Neg for rep behaviour.

Anyway, from now on I learnt to do as Taylor Swift

            🥴 Please stop.

I tried the Aldi Colombia for $18.99 / 1kg & it was very good

That's what's in my machine right now. Roast date within a week of buying it off the shelf. It makes a very good coffee.

  • +6

I probably would have tried this coffee and even if I don't find this too expensive. That comment above is dictator like and silencing community members is not a good move.
Take a note and improve your public communication.

  • -4

wow, touchy people all over the place. I think its perfectly fine for someone to say 'this is not an Aldi level product' just as people jump on anyone who suggest a Big W bicycle is comparable to a name brand.

  • I love the Mind coffee! It’s my favourite so far of all the brands I’ve tried through ozbargain deals and recommendations (and I’ve tried most of them now!).

    • -2

      Thanks DarkRebel

      Appreciate the positive comments.

Soul and Mind are both good brews and I personally would rate them higher then lime blue. I get it is exhausting seeing aldi beans in like 90% of the coffee beans posted on the site, but the response from ignite could have been handled much better.

    Thanks Solidsteak

    Appreciate the positive comments.
Your right I probably could have handled it better

  • Specialty roast coffee needs to be $35 including shipping to be a good deal in the market imo.
