Anyone know if this can be used for home internet?

    • +2

      it can, yeh

    • +3

      $300 1TB for 12 months
      = $25 83.3GB per month (2.73GB per day)

Might be not enough if you watch movies and download regularly but ok if you surf mainly.

2x Boost Sims per month should be faster due to 5g tho more hassles.

    • +1

These are 365 day mobile phone plans. Not Data plans. And as others have mentioned, nowhere near enough data for 1 year of home internet.

  • What is the capped download/upload speeds for 5G/4G?

    • It says

Eligible new and existing customers on a Large Monthly Plan will get trial access to our rapid 5G network. Trial extended until further notice.

      Could someone confirm?

      • I did this last year and as soon as I complained about lack of 5g as was promised they quickly removed any mention of 5G on the website. Still filthy about that!
Looks like they copy pasted from last year.

      • +1

The only plan I see with 5G is their monthly large which is $40/month. Bit misleading as I had initially thought it was Monthly x12 upfront but not so it seems.

  • You could. I think they are TPG. You would have to check coverage in your area and be a low mb user.

    • +5

      Kogan is vodafone.

      • +1

        Voda = TPG.

        • +1

          Both are on Vodafone network

    • I've got Kogan. It's Vodafone.

  • +2

FWIW this is great for teenage kids who need lots of data and it’s probably a good thing that it’s not super fast…

    • +6

I don't know where you are but Vodafone speeds & coverage are absolutely fine where I use my phone.

        • +6

          lol what a useless comment
Someone makes a positive comment which isn't necessarily contradicting what you've said, then you respond that way? Haha

      • +1

Me too. I use it instead of NBN. (And I have FTTP!)

      • +2

Yeah I consistently get great speeds on Vodafone in Melbourne where I use it (I rarely venture to regional or remote areas). No complaints here.

    • only if data is split in monthly chunks… they will spend all of it in first couple months otherwise. Regardless how much data it is.

      • +1

Phones these days can set data limit while kids these days know how to unset it

    • Nothing wrong with the speed but coverage isn't quite as good as Optus/Telstra in outskirts of Brisbane and mountainous areas.

  • +3

    Need s smaller plan….

  • Do they have 5G? I always get 4g on kogan

  • Is it 500GB each or 250GB each in XL plan?

    • +2

      500gb each

  • +1

    Damn i only need one

    • Which one are you after, I just need one for the 300gb too

      • +19

omg do i hear wedding bells?

        • +3

Wedding present: 2 for 1 Kogan sims

        • +2

They're talking about splitting already though.

      • +1

I was looking at the 500gb one cause that’s my current plan

        • if you're happy to, im looking for someone to split the 500gb one too, mine expires end of month so perfect timing

        • i just turned it on but i only made an acct just now so not sure how it works (normally just lurk hence no acct).

    • same

      • Actually can do 500gb too. We can share if you like?

        • i dmed u about it

          • @StarPlatinum: If you're not going to invite us all to the wedding, you should at least be able to live stream it with all that data.

  • Damn my plan expires tomorrow but I only need 1. Couldn't they just half the price?! Optus has a 260GB for $220 I'm eyeing right now, Boost sucks.

    • Yea you gotta wait for EOFY deal for Kogan in 3 months and get the 500GB for $150.

    • Boost > Optus

      • I have a crappy iPhone still on 4g. Some places I can’t even load ozbargain. When I visit my parents in another suburb, sometimes I don’t bother using my phone cause I know nothing will load. Dad’s phone is on Optus 4g and everything loads fine for him there.

Could be a different story on 5g but I don’t have the need for a new phone yet

Oh and my Dad gets a discount offer before his credit expires each year ($30?), boost just text you the day before and that’s that.

    • Where did you see this Optus plan?

      • Tesla replied

      • Optus website looking at their prepaid plans. It’s a limited time deal but only on the first 3 recharges I think.

    • I also need only 1

  • +2

Note that if you don’t need the large data allowance it’s cheaper to just pay normal price for the small plan.

  • Is there any activation date limit? Such as have to activate within 3 months after bought.

    • +1

Vouchers expire at 11:59PM AEST on 30/04/2024. Activation or recharge must be made before the voucher expiry date.

  • -6

How’s this a bargain??? lol I can never get any real deal from The Kogan

    • How is Buy one Get one Free not a bargain?

    • +1

You don't think 500GB over 12 months for $150 each is a bargain?

  • -3

    service is crap, it's vodafone.

i didn't think it matters, but i learned with my 1 year nightmare. never going to use vodafone ever again, absolute worst provider. optus is bearable, but i use only telstra now.

fyi i don't live in woop woop, i live in the city.

    • +1

Voda speeds are best for me due to proximity to each networks respective towers.

Boost used to be the worth the reduction in speed when they gave users free access to the AFL but can't justify it any more.

  • If I've bought a Kogan recharge, can I give it to someone else to recharge their service?

  • Does anyone knows if this comes with 1 or 2 sim card

    • +2

      2

  • Can you use VoWiFi while OS?

    • +1

only on Boost/Telstra. Not on Vodafone/Optus.

  • Would this work inside a non-portable 4G modem router?

    • +1

      yes

  • Been waiting for this, thanks OP!

  • Kogan. Service going downhill again. Been having issues with my connection. No sms, no calls, data working fine. No resolution from kogan, all scratching their heads. Was working fine before. Sim from another network in this phone works perfectly.

  • I hope they start including international calls in their plans rather than as an Add-on which doesn't give unlimited calls

  • Anyone else wanting to go halves in the 500g plan please? Mine from last year runs out shortly so I've been hoping this would be back.

  • does this mean we get 2 sim and have $500gb each? I'm confused.

    • +1

Yes, you'll get e-mailed 2 vouchers and 2 eSims if you chose eSims as your SIM method, else 2 physical sims posted to your mailing address.

  • Please use classifieds for all requests to share/split instead of commenting in this thread. Thanks.

  • If you buy the sim originally, can you transfer to esim if you change your mind?

And, let me know If anyone wants to split 500gb and I can buy it.

    • Hey I would like to share 500gb….

For the sim, I believe you could get one (2 dollars) from 711, and it is literally the same.

I used to be using Kogan mobile once and I could not wait for the sim to arrive, so just get one from local 711, and it works perfectly fine.

      • Great thanks. Will get the esim one then..I can't message you. Could.you pm me please? Will share voucher this evening?

        • hey buddy, i bought the plan literally on the last second, lol

also kindly check your inbox, we could have further chat there

  • If you can buy discounted HIM cards and convert them to Kogan gift cards it works out even cheaper.
