2 for 1 Burgers (Buy One, Get One Free) if Your AFL/NRL Team Wins @ Grill'd (Mondays & Dine-in Only, Free Membership Required)

1910

I did this last year and Monday night was a regular Grill'd night for me and my son as I picked Collingwood rather than my real team of the Eagles.
Well worth it if you enjoy grill'd.
You can pick an AFL or a Rugby team to support (not both)

Offer valid during the AFL & NRL seasons to Relish members for dine-in ordering at-till only on the Monday following the preferred sport team's win. Valid for standard burger or salad of equal or lesser value. Excludes specialty burgers.

will need 17 emails for each team to make sure I don't miss out

    • +4

Could probably get away with fewer than that unless you're really unlucky!

You only need 1 win per week out of 8 games/16 teams.

      Edit:
I'd say you need 10 emails.
8 games per week + a bye would be 9 "losing" teams per week. Having 10 would guarantee you a free burger.

      Edit2:
What Roary said! I should have refreshed my page before updating my comment.

    • +5

Actually u only need 10 emails.
There are 18 teams so each week 9 losers and 9 winners. So if you have 10 you will be guaranteed a winner (might be during a split round though)

      • +1

Could probably get away with just 2 or 3. If you select the top teams.

      • -1

Honestly this is a good deal not a great deal, who could be bothered…

I'll stick with my one email and just pick a team.

        Thanks OP

      • +1

On some weeks they play 10 games. Some weeks only 5. One team takes a rest every week.

In 2023, here's how many you would get from picking…

        Teams 2 for 1
        Bottom 6 20
        Bottom 7 25
        Bottom 8 26
Bottom 9 (Winner on all weeks except finals) 27
        Top 2 27
        Top 3 30
Top 4 (Winner on all weeks) 31

Or just have 2 plant burgers which are always 2 for 1 on Mondays.

Any suggestion on which team to go with?

    • +14

West Tigers is a safe bet. (I havent been paying attention during the off season)

      oops to win, Melbourne Storm

    • +1

in the AFL Collingwood was by far the best team to have picked last season. I going to pick them again this year I think

      • +34

Just a warning for those picking Collingwood… I did this last year but was challenged one Monday night - the cashier asked me to count backwards from 5 to 1. I answered slowly, mumbling a bit with some added 'urrs' and 'aars' thinking it would be enough. But they cancelled my order saying that a true pies supporter wouldn't get past 2. So this year I'm choosing Brisbane, Melbourne or Geelong.

        • +16

I was told to smile for the cashier and they refused my order as I still had my front teeth

        • Will be interesting to see what jv has to say about this.

          • +3

@PinzVidz: Surely JV isn’t so cliche to be pro-LNP, anti-Woolies, AND a Collingwood supporter.

        • +1

I won 1st division lotto last year but Collingwood won the premiership, so it was the worst year of my life…. Proving the saying, money isn't everything.

        • +1

Ummm I think you mean wouldn't get past 4. You were counting backwards remember

      • +1

Eating your words now mate eh?

        • +1

          Nope.. definitely not eating :(

    • +3

If you want the best bet, I believe its Penrith for NRL and Collingwood for AFL

I am a Bronco's supporter, but last year I picked Penrith (so I get the maximum offers)… guess who was crying and eating the BOGOF burgers last time when Broncos lost against Penrith?

      • I think Brisbane got at least 1 grand final last year just don't remember which code and lost 3 GFs

      • I had these 2 last year and got a burger offer every week.

      • Same! Actual team lost but my misery was drowned in a free burger.

  • +2

you're meant to hate us, not support us for free burgers, :(

    • +3

Free burger as compensation for the Pies winning a game is fair i reckon ;)

    • All the burger support has jinxed your mob

  • +4

Not to worry Mr K, we've rigged the cards, they're all in events that communists never lose.

    • +1

I personally am going to spit in every 50th burger!

    • +1

Haha nice, I get that but I'm betting 3/4 ozbargainers are too young to get it.

  • +4

If you have a few friends doing this and want to diversify your chances, these are the best teams to select according to current odds (in order):

    1. Penrith (NRL)
    2. Brisbane (NRL)
    3. Collingwood (AFL)
    4. Brisbane (AFL)

Also worth noting NRL teams play 24 games during the season instead of 23 in the AFL.

    • +1

I do have a few friends, if burner emails are counted. Shall I secure a spot?

    • +1

      Thank you :)

  • +7

Still overpriced for very average burgers.

  • +2

How to change your team. I just got an email saying Melbourne win you win.

  • Which burgers are included in the deal? Are the Wagyu ones?

    • Wagyu and Lamb are considered specialty burgers, which are excluded. Sorry.

  • Was it that you had to eat in to obtain deal? Can't remember why I didn't redeem it last time

    • +1

Yes, dine-in only. But I reckon you could just eat one burger then ask a server for a takeaway box because your wife's water just broke and you need to go to the hospital.

      • +3

Yes, they are always happy to do one eat in and one take away from the stores i tried in Sydney.

      • They have free table water

      • Eat in, take a bite, ask them for takeaway boxes … possibly skip taking a bite.

      • Or be environmentally conscious and BYO take away box

        • +2

Funn you say that. Last night waiter brought my burgers to my table but almost wanted to take my purchased burgers away from me because I wanted to put them in my own supplied take away box because "not allowed". Once I told her she can't force me to eat there she told me to go to a different Grill'd next time and walked off after letting me know she'll note down my "illegal" take away on my relish account 🤣. She even asked if I was waiting for anyone else when she first brought the burgers as it was 2 burgers for me, as if she didn't think it was allowed for one person to order 2 burgers lol. I'm going to keep going back with my own take away box, if they refuse to take my table order, I'm going to consumer affairs, surely it's covered by ACL lol

          • @FeZZa21: Yikes, what a spewy experience for you.

From what I've seen, Grill'd workers are usually teenagers on a power-trip mate, having little to no understanding of what is lawful or illegal.
Definitely, hit up consumer affairs if this continues, you have paid for the burger and if you can't 'finish it', no one can legally stop you from actually taking it away in your own bags.

            • @gud2cu: Someone in staff told me, they get in trouble over this :S

              • +1

@SomeGuyOnOzB: they "get in trouble" if they give out the burgers as take away order, order has to be done at the till for dine-in as per the t&c. what you do with the burgers after they bring it to you at your table is your business.

            • @gud2cu: check out this response from Grill'd when I provided feedback: https://i.ibb.co/p2TM4cw/2024-05-16-13-06-20.png I've also left the store a negative feedback on google

              • @FeZZa21: Looks like some generic shit they type without giving a rat's about what your actual situation was.
Yes Google reviews are also good to do for sure, especially if your guide rating is high.

        • +1

Yes, was also told yesterday about this. It seems the staff have been told that this deal is a dime in only and they get in trouble if they allow dine in for one burger, and take away for the other.

But its also interesting that the server was terrible at customer service, she was at the Broadway Sydney store, and was talking a long time to someone else while a line of customers was piling up, when she finished the conversation she did something else before attending the the waiting customers.

The customer service was something i really enjoyed about Grilld, and i always though they were exceeding customer service by allowing the dine in and take away, must like they allowed me to do teo free chips, when the deal was supposed to be on the second visit. But they have gone downhill and this change seems to be coming from management.

          • @Crownanchor: Same here. Used to be good service. They were really unfriendly and unpleasant when telling me about this issue. Shouting it at me in front of the whole restaurant, instead of coming over to tell me in private.

Then I let Grill'd know about the poor service … and they didn't bother contacting me. A day later they then asked me how support went, responding to me (when they never got in touch).

Not good service. We haven't been back in weeks now.

    • +1

Not at my store. They said take away is fine.

  • When I sign up with my account it remembers who I supported last year and I can’t seem to change to a different tram this year. Anyone facing this issue?

    • Yes, seems to be the same.

There was an app change for 2024, so maybe this is the problem

But according to the text, "Get ready to join the celebrations in your local
Grill'd restaurant every time they win!" so maybe it can be changed sometime soon.

I don't know anything about sports but is it possible that I have Penrith, Collingwood and Geelong covered and no coupon this week? Thanks.

    • I also dont know anything about sports. But googling up the results from "yesterday" reveals 4 games played, of your teams, only Collingwood played and lost.

      • Thanks. Better luck next time

  • I hate to be picky, but rugby is not NRL.

  • Anyone with a spare code for today?

  • Has anyone had any luck doubling this deal with the free chips offer??

    • Nope tried many times. They won’t let you stack offers.
