    what is the deal here??

    • +2

Beats me. Especially if you look at this deal:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/832552

      • I7 cpus offer HT as opposed to i5 and will commend a premium on price. However if you keep your eyes out for a deal, you'll be able to snag a similarly specced unit for around $200. I've managed to pick up a couple over the last 2 months.

        • I get it. I think, if you’re looking for one of these, you’re not (necessarily) looking for a “hot” i7. The lower TDP i5 and i7 chips are a better fit, IMHO.

@Orrelljet: Yeah, i dont think you'll get much more out of this vs the t version. However I recall reading on another post that systems that came with the non t version, have a copper block for better heat dissipation. Ultimately I wouldnt pay more for either cpu in a system like this and just get the cheapest i7 i can het my hands on.

        • Where did you get one for 200? Thats a great buy!!

          • @zcream: Just individual sellers on ebay. You do have to check regularly and act quick though, as they do go quickly.

It is the right CPU, i7-8700 @3.2Ghz

That only mean you don't know about CPU, as a seller you even cannot tell your mistake after being pointed out, that is not pro at all.

      • +1

OK, I am wrong about it, I admit that.

You may want to look at the specs because they indicate Dell did option these with the i7-8700 ;)

@FLICKIT: You are right, just me never counter one including supply sheet.

        • +2

Just admit you're wrong. If you are who you said you are, someone who has dealt with unlimited amount of CPU, I doubt how knowledgeable you are. That's not pro at all.

    • 50 series only support 8th gen
60 series supports both 8th and 9th gen

    • I wonder how the fan copes with the 65W TDP specified by the CPU in a micro case?

Noisy as hell, or thermal throttling? I think I'd prefer the SFF, as they have a nice fan/heatsink design in the extra space.

No it can't, because seller gave wrong info, it is 8700T not 8700, a much different thing.

        • Dell did offer both CPUs in this form factor.

          • @bargaino: Yes you are right. But I don't believe the cooling is ever adequate, it just constantly throttle down like some laptops.
