BYD Atto 3 MY23 Models - $1000 Cash Back - On Top Of $2023 Cash Back @ BYD Automotive

1962

Just went into the Indooroopilly BYD dealership and they're offering an additional $1000 cashback on top of the existing $2023 cashback offer.

I was told this offer hasn't been published and only applies to those who sign a contract at the dealership, and they weren't sure if it was nationwide.

Apparently this deal will only last this weekend.

        • You can't haggle these, purchase is completely online just like Tesla's. You can probably ask for accessories but highly doubt it.

  • +2

I'm sure BYD will keep dropping the price of MY23 Atto until they are sold out. Hold if you can. They don't sell out as quick because most potential Atto buyers end up leaving BYD showroom with a Seal instead.

    • Doubt it, it'll cannibalise dolphin sales

  • is hybrid better than EV? Or same, or worse… looking to buy my first car …

    • +2

Check the service costs on hybrid, they are pretty obscene once you are past fixed fee and hit 90,000k.

      • -1

Check the battery replacement costs of EVs if you want to see something truly obscene..

    • I pay $0 on fuel using solar and my local shops.

If not it would cost me maybe $12 using the paid charger at my local train station (10%-100% by the time I get back from work) or $25 ish at home with no solar.

This gets me about 350km suburban, 400km if you drive like a normal person.

Only reason I'd got with hybrid is if you don't have a driveway/garage you can charge in every night.

On long trips Eg interstate your savings on fuel costs will only be about 30-50%, fast chargers are expensive and if you don't drive a Tesla reliability of chargers drop by a significant margin.

  • -8

A few percent off on last year's model isn't a deal

    • +2

      It's cheap brah

    • When everything else going up in price..

    • Do you have a cheaper price?

  • +3

Tempting, but currently I don't drive enough to justify switching to an EV

  • +1

Does anyone own an EV but live regionally ( 500,km from a service center)? How do you go about servicing? Keen as for an EV but I think I need a dealership closer.

    • +1

No EV will be ideal currently, but if you want one you should definitely consider Tesla over BYD. Tesla's have very limited servicing schedules with basically no servicing in the first few years. Whereas BYD still demands an annual service with a cost, despite being electric.

    • +1

I think BYD offers services via third parties - mycar kmart auto and not via their display centers.

    • +1

Atto 3 service is every 12 months/20k. The first 20k service costs $189 and includes 25 various checks, wheel rotation, and cabin filter replacement. I think that's fine to drive to a nearest city once a year to keep the warranty.

    • +1

Unless you’re a confirmed hermit a Tesla will probably suit. Minimal service needs and you can schedule it for whenever you head to town. They can also come to you and do repairs etc - but I’m sure their distance limit is less than 500 km….
The other thing Tesla do is encourage diy by showing pretty clear procedures for most service items in their online manual. You might need to buy a spare tyre if you’re a fair way out.

    • -1

get a tesla if you live regionally

excellent range and the perfection when it comes to automatic trip planning, fueling etc

as for servicing, it's an EV, all they need are brakes and suspension checked - and a much less intervals than ICE

although who knows with BYD, looks like cheap rubbish

  • +3

I quite enjoy the naysayer comments. BYD will be the hyundai/kias in 5-10 years and Toyotas/VW in 15-20, and that is being very conservative assuming a linear EV adoption rate

    • -1

it all depends if BYD have the software chops of tesla or that of a cheap chinese phone

      almost certainly the latter

doesn't matter how good the hardware is if the software is crap

massive risk to buy 1st gen, especially from a new company in a new country - i hope for buyers that BYD have quality battery management systems

      • +2

I think that’s a positive for BYD. They are very popular in China and Chinese social media will fry them if they don’t keep their customers happy.

        • 3 years warranty of the infotainment system suggests otherwise

        • To be fair, BYD is known in China to be poorly built. Check out the Chinese videos of BYD EVs rusting. Heaps on bilibili.

      • You mean as opposed to the software of a 90s ford pickup?

There's great and there's good enough. BYD will aim for the latter with a good value proposition.

They have rotating screen with smartphone mirroring which I'd prefer over the entire touchscreen experience of a Tesla. Touchscreen for gear change is madness

      • Byd started out as a battery company.

      • What software are we talking? It's running Android for the infotainment meaning I can sideload YouTube and netflix and have them play while driving (for the kids ofc).

You speak as if byd is new to the game, they've been building EV's for decades.

Frankly I'd take that over Tesla's oversimplified approach. Who tf wants to open the glove compartment using the screen?

    • +1

Pretty sure CCP members are drinking Mao Tai in an airconditioned room rather than working on a factory floor building BYD cars for you.

      • -1

BYD is, ultimately, controlled by the CCP.

I'll buy an EV not made by the CCP.

        • +4

Good for you. By your logic don't buy anything made in china. good luck with that.

          • +4

@Creamsoda: china manufacturing is in decline, south east asia is where it's at now

but on the subject of the CCP, once a company is big enough and especially if it has strategic data then it's not really a private company any more, it's a resource of the CCP

i don't think a set of utensils are comparable, but maybe im dumb

          • +1

@Creamsoda: The risk you're taking when you buy a Chinese car isn't the same as the risk of a China made shirt. In the event of a war between China and Taiwan/West, and as a result China will likely be sanctioned, there'll likely be no BYD part available on the market. No chance of decoupling either. Imagine where you would be today if you bought a Russian car.

          • @Creamsoda: I try not to, I genuinely do but of course it's not always possible. With an EV though, it is entirely possible. Plenty of cars not made in CCPland.

            Logic that works for me.

        • Ok

    • Do you own an iphone, ipad, imac, macbook, surface,ps5, xbox Comrade?

      • Read what I wrote in subsequent posts champ.

There are plenty of EVs not made in CCPland.

  • Can't wait for drama since tesla chargers are now public

  • +4

Pls be mindful with buying either BYD or MG or any chinese cars as parts and dealerships are pain to deal with. Try avoid crashing your chinese cars .

    • +2

Try avoid crashing your chinese cars .

EV very expensive to repair if you have major crash anyway, especially the battery.

    • +2

That is real concern but when Telsa cost so much more to repair most of the things, then still BYD the better choice.

    • +2

Funny enough, a mate crashed his M3 performance and was given an atto 3 as a rental

  • -3

    Australia’s favorite EV

Cheap, high quality and best performance

Better get one soon as they’re selling out like hotcakes!

    • +3

Selling so hot they give out rebates and then offering even more rebates!

      • Rebates are how they control the rrp.

They play the short term money market.

        • no doubt, but you wont need offer rebates if you actually were selling like hot cakes. Its the lack of demand that is drawing quasi discounts

          • +1

@cloudy: They all offer rebates Tesla (several times maybe not in Aus), BYD, ORA, Mini Cooper and they all sell like hot cakes !!

  • Wait for BYD Seal U?

    • I am waiting for it but this year's Seal U only hybrid in Australia, damn BYD

      • PHEV so eligible for NL benefits

        • What does the 2025 end date for PHEVs mean? Cars purchased pre-2025 will continue getting the NL benefits indefinitely or will the benefits end after 1 year?

    • +5

Be afraid, be very afraid. CCP is every where, in your computer, in your food even in your pants so you better check them labels. They might steal your DNA and make a chinese clone to steal your identity. We should definitely love Chinese Muslims more while genociding Arab Muslims for self defence.

      • +1

Lol, he just a CCP hacked mind

      • -1

A lot of Australian Chinese actually do stay away from food made in China. They buy soy sauce only made in Japan or Singapore. Funny how Asians distrust China more than the West does. Fair to say they know things others don't.

        • +3

          Speak for yourself

        • +2

Nope, I use laoganma and pearl bridge soy sauce everyday.

    • How about COVID, well at least you can't pin the 5G in the COVID vaccine on China </s>

  • +1

Awaiting 60k off deal before buying. Reached limit of buy now think later at $1k for this brand / electric.

  • +1

Terrible warranty coverage. The infotainment, bearings, charging ports etc. are only covered under a 3-year warranty.

  • +1

$400 to service an EV? What a joke.

  • do these use LFP batteries?

  • -5

these BYD posts need to be moderated, there is something extremely fishy going on here, the voting patterns and spam is very suspicious

    • +1

Buy the Chinese car/goods will give more job to Australian, because Chinese Cpc bought ours Iron ore, are you Australian?

    • I'd be more worried about ebay posts. Hundreds of up votes but 80% of the comments are about jack

  • +1

I asked where the service center is ( im on GC) they said Mycar do the servicing - um no thanks - Mycar would give two sh*ts of (profanity) all about warranty

    • Lots of good stories on BYD facebook groups dealing with mycar for servicing and warranty. They are apparently contracted to do the work on behalf of BYD.

      • And Tesla?

      • I went and drove one - loved it - talked to finance minister - all ok until they said mycar - rather a Hyundai or Kia and have a dedicated service centre - I have a Tucson - and While it was serviced there Hyundai was great

  • +3

The $1000 are for demo stock only and they got a good couple thousand KMs on them thrashed by the finest of test drivers and touched by the thousands in our shopping centre popup stores

    • +1

Sound like someone I used to know

      • +2

        I should call her..

  • +3

    Thanks op.
I did not see this, however it was at our local dealership.

Very comfortable car and flashy, as is the Seal.

Don't expect a great tradein, as the system is rebate based, rather than profit. I put a deposit down , and my vehicle still has plastic on the seats, and foam on the doors.

The seal was great, but 4-6 week wait.

One downside is no spare tyre, but a puncture repair kit. I did see a tyre/jack kit for 695 on ebay.

    Yes, i have ordered one.
    Now to lookup 3ch dashcams.

  • ok if I ask how much is insurance (comprehensive or third party/fire/theft) for byd owners ?

    • $1.2k for comprehensive on seal

  • -1

Byd sales plummet in February , hold for major discounts .
