Netflix Turkey Membership Cancelled on 24/02/2024 - Are You Also Affected? Vote on Poll

Hi all, a lot of people in the netflix turkey thread is saying their membership has been cancelled but did not specific the payment type.

I am trying to determine what the criteria of membership cancellation is, please vote only if you are on Netflix Turkey

Error if your membership is cancelled

Sorry this account is no longer active. Please sign up again or sign in to a different account.”

EDIT: Official "story" provided by netflix:

As per checking To protect members against unauthorized charges, we sometimes cancel accounts that show signs of unusual activity. It looks like your account was canceled for this reason.

They will even recommend you dispute charge via your card company to get a refund as they did not provide you with the service you paid for. So everyone go and get your money back and then buy Turkey Gift Cards ahaha Personally I recommend turgame 200TL gift cards if you order after 5pm they will arrive pretty fast.

            • @G-rig: Was done after the fact as won't be returning and interested to what is contained (which is an awful lot of info). You can do it anytime even if membership is cancelled as account remains.

              • @Borg: Yeah I downloaded it, don't really care and have no use for it. The point is Netflix are a bit more clever these days and have wisened up to all these tricks.

          • @Borg: Thanks, I've been following this thread since I created it and it is the first time anyone has mentioned it here before.

I've already signed back up to Turkey premium membership with gift cards and will do some testing to see what is going on. If that is the case then it truly is dead and only something I've found out today or maybe they only started implementing it today.

            • @CodeXD: See how you go otherwise I recommend the alternative setup.

  • I reactivated netflix Turkey but this time they cancelled password sharing.
Testing stremio with real debrid now to replace all my streaming services but is there a way to categorise Discover, like Netflix, Disney, prime etc?

    • What do you mean they cancelled password sharing?
Are you getting an error saying it cannot be used in this location? That means you are geolocked and will still work if you use Turkey ip address, last around 30 days.

This is normal for new membership signup (yes, it counts as new membership even if you've had TR Netflix in the past but Netflix cancelled it)

      • No. it's not geolock. I and my nephew were using it with VPN after reactivation but he just got a message the other night saying "Your TV isn't part of the Netflix household for this account". So no more password sharing of Turkish Netflix.

        • Interesting, this is the first report of Turkey Netflix implementing household IP address restriction.

I'll need to check if my account is the same, not sure if I have access to multiple turkey IP address via getflix VPN but will investigate later tonight.

EDIT: I had a read and it appears to just be a warning message, can you click continue and watch as normal?

          • @CodeXD: No. There are two options:
            - Update Netflix household
            - I'm travelling (which sends me an authorisation code for his temprorary access)

    • +1

Yes, you set up all the services you want when installing the RD plugin to Stremio.

Then you can hit that discover button and there's a pulldown under movie which has all the services (just checked on phone now), or just searc.

      • when I search "RD" in community addons it only finds Terrentio RD, which I already have. Isn't it in community addons?

Edit: I found Streaming Catalogs addon, it kinda does what I want. I can select the streaming company under catalog (Popular, New, Netflix, HBO etc)

        • +3

Yeah it's all in the Reddit guide, I just set it up the same way, just select the services you want.

It's in the CyberFlix Catalogue add-on, look in the settings there afterwards too (if you want to change or add services) and it directs you to the webpage setup.

          • @G-rig: Thanks. Cyberflix is near perfect.

  • Got my TR refund from Netflix. Streamio and RD operating, installed in my Android TV following reddit guide… It's actually much more practical. It'd be interesting to see if that's positive or negative for Netflix shares in the long term The next pool should ask if we moved to an Australian subscription or not. I don't believe most people who got it cancelled will be paying AU monthly fees.

    • Can you share the reddit guide to install on android TV?

    • Once you have setup one device on Stremio, very simple to add others

    • +1

I paid for an Australian account. Netflix is watched by the wife, non-English shows, so I CBF trying to Usenet or whatever the latest fad is now to try and find the obscure stuff she watches. My movies I just download when I want to watch them.

    • I tried it after reading comments. It’s good for the price but leaves much to desire, in regards to sound not matching with the video or the music is too loud and can’t hear the actual dialogues on couple of videos I tried to watch.

      • You must be selecting poor quality torrents. I've watched a few movies, one of them a 4k, and episodes, no issues at all.

  • +5

Wow thank you for this chat (and Netflix crackdown) for pointing me to Stremio + Torrentio + Real Debrid. I'm a fan.

  • Whats the fav vpn now. Realized mine expired months ago.

    • +1

Nord VPN look for a deal on here usually 96% cashback

      • New clients. I had an ac with them

        • +1

just use a different email address and you're considered a new client

    • Nothing specific, you will need multiple indexers.

  • +8

just set up Stremio + Torrentio + RD and i'm blown away by how good it is for ~$52AUD/year, it really is a game changer. replaces the need for any of the non-sport related streaming services completely as it has them all in one package!

couple of experiences i'll share with Stremio that i hope may help someone:

    • Stremio for iOS: once you have set up Stremio the way recommended by the reddit link, this guide works great on iOS using RD+ links with Outplayer app installed on your ios device.
    • Using the Stremio app directly i find great, but you will get audio issues chromecast-ing directly from Stremio app to a chromecast. Not all streams but most will have a no-audio issue i found. If you have CCwGTV or you have a SmartTV the better solution is to install the Stremio app directly onto those (once setup is done) instead of 'casting' - however if you only have a dumb TV + older chromecast (as in my case while i'm staying with friends) this isn't an option. the cord-less solution - for Android is to install VLC and check the setting to start videos in external player (VLC) then you can chromecast from VLC, for PC once the video starts click the 3dots then Watch on VLC, then you can choose Playback>Renderer to cast from VLC (optional Unified remote can then remotely control PC with phone etc)
    • Nice write up, I feel the same way it's way more than I was expecting. Also it's worth having a media device or TV app instead of casting from the phone (there is no need for it these days). Can recommend the CCwGTV and it works very well.

For my device I found these settings improve it immensely (from Reddit), but I'm sure it could be applied to other devices.

    • What do you do for sport? And the ability to replay of you can't watch it live e.g. EPL

      • +1

For EPL or the likes, anothed option is FootyFull with a VPN initially connected to UK, and then cast to preferred device which seems to take the stream, even though it has no VPN.

      • +1

Kodi with umbrella and RD has been a treat. Especially with arctic horizon 2 skin. N3ver had any issues with 4k DV and HDR content like buffering or black screen with hybrid files. On the other hand Stremio buffers a lot with RD cached content.

      • +1

Try IPTV for sport, I use one and it works pretty well for that.
Converted to Stremio + Torrentio + RD though for Movies/Series pretty impressed by it

      • +2

I use Kodi + The Crew or Mad Titan Sports plugin to watch EPL and NBA/NFL etc. All of them sideloaded on Amazon Firestick 4K Max

      • +1

Stremio add-on MediaFusion 3.7.5 is worth a look - Sports catch up and some live channels.

        https://www.reddit.com/r/StremioAddons/comments/1bhz781/medi…

Testing it now, integrates very well.

    • Are there ever sport replays on there, such as F1?

      • You could easily add a F1 D/L link so its avail for you at your leisure i.e. there are places that you can D/L replays of F1. Rather than direct D/L, just add the torrent url to RD if that makes sense.

  • Not only turkey netflix but also my turkey photoshop and not only did they cancel it they charged me 172 dollars for the aus 1 year membership without my consent, i did a charge back with my bank and reported the card stolen told them i never authorised that, hopefully they dont win the damn case.

    • Are you talking about the Adobe $1 a month or something deal? I received an email stating price would increase and if I want happy to cancel immediately before price increase.

  • Syncler Is another great little app if you want the easy way

  • im just reading up about this stremio and RD looks very interesting, how do i see the prices for RD? whats the best bang for buck plan?

    • All that confused me as well, I think it's only about the subscription duration. Got a month to test, but will get 3 months once that's out.

      https://real-debrid.com/premium

    • There are four plans and in Euro €3 (15days), €4 (30days), €9 (90Days) and €16 (180days). Just join to see whats on offer. No purchase required to sign up.

      • another question, does the setup process happen on a computer? and once done can i just install this stremio app on android tv and its good to go?

        • yes

  • +2

For those new to Debrid and don't know much about it- you can paste into it torrent/magnet links, to non-copyright material of course, and it will leech your files or if it's already on the Debrid server, you'll get a full speed connection to it instantly. So, it's great for privacy because your debrid host downloads the torrent/magnet file and you just direct downloading a file from your host.

The quality holly shit, i wana thank netflix for cancelling my turkey subscription, without them i would have never found out about this Stremio and RD and i wana thank the ozbargain community for giving out this info coz we hit a lick boys. 27 dollars for 6 months, bruh i was wasting money with netflix turkey

      • I suppose you could run this through your own VPN for peace of mind?

    • +1

Yep, for real! I initially bought the 15 day Real Debrid plan to try it out and quickly fell in love and bought the 6 month plan.

  • What a joke my netflix account requires me to reset my password and as soon as I enter my email address for password reset it comes up with somethings gone wrong, so it looks like I am locked out completely only had the turkey account for 4 months, just renewed via gift card last week. Never paid by CC

    • You neee to login in without vpn to Australian netflix and will let you login and will restart your account.

The current population of Turkey is 86,112,392 as of Friday, March 1, 2024

The current number of Netflix accounts in Turkey as of Feb 2024 was 300,234,222……….

NO wonder we all got skidded…………………..

    • +1

lol what, you mean we can't own 10 Netflix accounts per household?!

  • more info for the android app for tv viewing (vodaphone tv box): big files take a while till it starts playing, i mean 4k 60gb to 100gb bluray files on tv take 10 sec to 35 sec till it starts playing, 50gb and under files start playing in 5 to 10 secs. anything under 30gb plays in 3-5 secs for me. the huge 90gb ones are actual bluray copies high quality high bitrate 4k. you haven't seen 4k like this though if the only 4k you watched is that shit from netflix which is washed out 4k with very low bitrate. this is true 4k so i dont mind waiting a few seconds longer till it start playing.

these times do not apply on ios devices the lag only happens on android tv app or windows app, meaning i opened a few 80-90gb files in the ipad and man it started playing in 5-8 seconds. im not surprised as the ipad is running a m1 processor, thats processor is known to out perform a desktop i7 so no surprises there.

    • Are you missing the name of the app? tried to google android app for tv viewing (vodaphone tv box) but not getting any hits on particular app for android

      • sorry i meant android tv box, not an app, its a hardware. (vodaphone tv box that runs android) used to sell for 55 at vodaphone, its just like amazon fire stick or google chromecast devices

        • +1

As in, you are missing Stremio in your review of Stremio lol

This thread is about netflix, so a parent comment like yours people would assume is Netflix app on vodafone tv box.

          • +3

@CodeXD: lol i thought everyone was on the same page, this post is no longer about netflix, we are all here for stremio,

a great app indeed, this app essentially combines all popular streaming stuff in one app, you can select, netflix or amazon or apple tv or hbo max and all others. thats very high quality 4k stuff, with a one fee that you are paying, 27 dollars for 6 months, you can keep adding another 6 month you dont have to wait till the end of the 6 month, so if you want 1 year its like 53 dollars aud. just hope nothing gets blocked or non of the debird services get shut down for years to come.

Edit: to anyone experiencing errors while playing large file movies on android, make sure hardware acceleration is on, and if still running into problems, download vlc, and go to playback in settings, choose external player, after that select any movie to play, it lets you choose which player, choose vlc, then choose always.

            • @Roe Jogan: So I followed all the above instructions and installed torrentio and realdebrid. Went to my sony android tv play the Indiana Jones movie in disneyplus, 4k content but the movie is buffering.

Have chosen ultrafast servers and hardware acceleration is on and running on vlc.

My tv is around 5 years old if that could be the reason.

              • @shivaussie: thats the bottle neck your crappy tv bro, get a chromecast 4k with android tv from jbhifi or where ever.

                • @Roe Jogan: That's what I thought… Have a fire stick lying around will test it out. Thanks!

              • @shivaussie: I'm finding the same. Have a Samsung QN85C from last year and using the Samsung Stremio App.
Seems to buffer for the 4K movies I've tried. It'll play maybe 15 seconds at a time.

                No problems with 1080p sources.

                • @Pigey: Hey, did you try a few of the different streams?
I don't think it matters like the dl ones, as it's cache server, but usually the first suggestion plays fine.

Check (these settings)[https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15004993/redir] if you haven't already.
I was applying them Google CCwGTV, but i'm sure other devices would have a similar setting(?).

                  • @G-rig: I'll take a look next time I watch another 4K movie.

Actually, I'm on a 50/10 connection. That's probably not fast enough to do the bigger 4K rips.
                    Can only really pull 5MB/s.

  • +1

So… I've just found out my netflix was apparently cancelled a couple of weeks ago.
Apparently no one in my family has been actively using it for a while anyway.
    Thank you Netflix.

I just wish all my other unused memberships would do the same automatically… I'm looking at you gym & sports memberships.

    • +2

Wow…are you signed up to Turkey Gyms as well :-)

      • How do I do this ahhaha

  • How worst is the plan with ads? Looks fake same cost as paying via turkey with less headache

    • +5

I wouldn't have a bar of ads on a paid subscription, no one should encourage that shit.
However standard with adds would be good enough if your kids are pestering you or something.

Wouldn't call Turkey no headaches these days, check out the last 10 pages haha.

  • +1

Looks like my chargeback with Bankwest was successful - got paid back my 1 month membership fee, with $0.07 interest!

    • That was probably related to FX in your favour.

      • -2

Nah, I don't pay FX fees on this card. Bankwest Platinum - fee-free. A real Ozbargainer doesn't pay FX fees.

        • +2

I think they meant the differing exchange rates on charge date and refund date worked in your favour.

          • -8

@zonra: The refund was for the exact same amount converted to AUD, so shouldn't make a difference. Maybe?

            • @Make it so: Just to follow up: I received a letter confirming the $0.07 was interest, not a difference in exchange rate. If the account is in AUD, you shouldn't be refunded differently than you paid.

    • How long did it take? I lodged mine via bankmail a week ago and haven't heard back.

  • so just to clarify renew cancelled TR account with TR GC's but it will be geolocked for 1 month unless using a VPN for TR? then ok but likely crackdown on PW sharing

    • +1

looks like it man, let us know how it goes after 30days

  • rarely used it, saves me $10 a month lmao

edit: was using turkey with bank card payment

  • Signed up India on 1st March, still working as of today
I have added vpn profile to my router so TV and firestick streaming traffic are all going through the same India VPN server
Streaming speed is ok, has not experience any lags

Other portable devices just connect to normal wifi without VPN

    • Does this mean all tvs will be connected to the same India VPN ? Can you put vpn profile on each media device itself and make the Netflix app go through that? Or will they be flagged as password sharing and likely to be booted off?

      • for me I put the VPN profile in the router, and add the ip address that need to go through VPN
this way I dont need to run VPN app in each media device

Since all my home TV devices run through the same VPN network they are all treated as the same home network

  • Hey guys, the whole stremio / real debrid / torrentio setup, The real debrid adds a vPN component to the data being streamed right? So does that mean i can set it up on my laptop and use it at work during lunch? I used to watch netflix during lunch or one of the other streaming sites, was wondering if i can use this as well or if it will still show up as torrenting. Which in itself isnt banned at work but it will look suss if it comes up as torrenting.

    • +1

you are going through the realdebrid servers so similar to going through a VPN servers really depends if realdebrid servers are flagged by your IT department which really depends on what they are monitoring / restricting. Using realdebrid does not mean you are watching illegal content & it would be difficult to prove

      • thanks mate

        • +1

Just try it and see, works for me. Seems like a pretty newish set-up.
Also as far as I know you're streaming cached files from their servers, not the open waters.

          • +2

@G-rig: not new just becoming more mainstream / popular and yes files are not directly accessed from the high seas but through realdebrid secure servers

            • @Irishness: I run RD through my own VPN for peace of mind. Works a treat.

              • +1

@Cineaste: yeah understood, though most won't bother paying for RD & a VPN an added level of security sure, hey you don;t even need to run through RD but there are pros/cons of not notably cost v security/buffering/speed

          • @G-rig: yeah just did it, works fine so far. I dont have my own VPN besides this lifetime getflix vpn from years ago that i never used and i dont know if its around anymore even. What do people generally use for VPN these days? NordVPN seems to get mentioned on ozbargain a lot.

            • @lonewolf: Getflix is still around, I used it to sign up for Netflix Turkey with gift card when this whole fiasco started.

Getflix android app also works on CCwGTV so even tho the netflix account is geolock I can still watch on TV.

              • @CodeXD: Is that the subscription based getflix or the lifetime membership option they had for a while? I think people said the lifetime version ended up being a cut down / inferior version once they had enough people join. I heard the non lifetime version is better.

                • +1

@lonewolf: I'm on the lifetime version

                  Status: Lifetime with subscription
                  Subscription Expiry: Jan 1, 2100

                  • @CodeXD: oh really, so maybe i should try it out again. Did you find it slow?

                    • @lonewolf: Nope, no issues, I have premium subscription but I watch netflix in 1080p as that is what my TV supports. It starts off in lower quality but fixes itself within a few seconds.

            • +1

@lonewolf: Yeah I got Nord, just wait till you see one of those 96% cashbacks, pretty cheap. Don't really use it much, and wouldn't bother with RD either to be honest. The occasional show has buffered but Easy enough to find a different stream.

@irishness ahh no worries, got it!
