Netflix Turkey Membership Cancelled on 24/02/2024 - Are You Also Affected? Vote on Poll

Hi all, a lot of people in the netflix turkey thread is saying their membership has been cancelled but did not specific the payment type.

I am trying to determine what the criteria of membership cancellation is, please vote only if you are on Netflix Turkey

Error if your membership is cancelled

Sorry this account is no longer active. Please sign up again or sign in to a different account.”

EDIT: Official "story" provided by netflix:

As per checking To protect members against unauthorized charges, we sometimes cancel accounts that show signs of unusual activity. It looks like your account was canceled for this reason.

They will even recommend you dispute charge via your card company to get a refund as they did not provide you with the service you paid for. So everyone go and get your money back and then buy Turkey Gift Cards ahaha Personally I recommend turgame 200TL gift cards if you order after 5pm they will arrive pretty fast.

      • When you buy something it’s in their account and it’s their money. So?

      • Agree, don't have an issue. Visa and MC are covered for fraud. Otherwise what's stopping you from paying someone for goods then reclaiming it.

      • +3

Back in South Africa you hvae 48h to reverse any transaction. Yiu don't need to give proof or anything

Sounds like an amazing way to be scammed out of money then. You also type like one of those scammers emails I get with all those typos.

    • +2

Same for 2 chargebacks with Westpac. Still need to do my Turkish chargeback with ubank but they need to be called.

Keep chargeback’ing ppl. If you’re not keen on the money just donate to a good cause, at least Netflix should not get it.

  • Well, it was good while it lasted. Looks like I started in March 2022 and finally got found in March 2024, about $200 for two years of a mix between Standard and Premium.

I would sign back up locally to the plan with ads, but not having access to the full library is the killer.

  • Did anybody elses account get straight up deleted? I can't sign in or forget my password reset.

    • Not deleted. Prob just need to sign back without VPN from Australia. Tried that?

  • Your membership has already been cancelled.

They cancelled just a day before my monthly renewal was due to kick in 😎

All good things must come to an end, I guess… Sad times 😥

  • Is there a script/template that everyone is using when calling their bank? I'm sure I saw one in one of the threads but can't find it now.

Spoke to "Darryl" - a manager - on the 1800 number today. (aside: Darryl sounded exactly like you'd imagine an Indian man would if he was raised on nothing but John Wayne films). No refund, but he did say a few interesting things that none of the chat reps copy/pasta mentioned:

    • the mass cancellation was an 'anomaly', affecting many thousands of accounts over Turkiye and Pakistan, and
    • he has been told that it should be resolved within days via either refund or reactivation. I doubt this very, very, very, very mu…very, very, very… you get the idea

And then he wrapped up the call with stating that they have absolutely no capacity at their end to issue a refund.

    • Hahaha, nothing is an anomaly with companies such as Netflix who care about profits more than customer service.

Cancelled. Moved to India. I just became asylum

    • +2

I did that on Saturday and got deactivated just hours ago so good luck :(

      • Ok, getting on ship now.

        • hold on tight!!!

      • Ditto. Didn't think they'd do it again so soon!

EDIT: wonder if it would work using Turkish gift cards instead

        • Guess they are running nightly jobs 😢

    • can confirm i got deactivated again. fkers now got a free $18 from me.

      • Checking if you logged in on Smart TV? Someone commented that Netflix rep said they're cracking down on people who signed up in a cheaper country but use non portable device e.g. smart TV to watch in another country.

        • this could be the case for me as I recently got a new TV which comes with Google TV :(

  • For those recommending Stremio and Real-debrid… do you activate a VPN when using it? Reading online, it is considered pirating if you use Stremio to access torrents, and for that reason a VPN is recommended. Then it seems like a pitch to sell a particular VPN. So, what do you guys do or use? Cheers.

    • +4

RealDebrid does the vpn stuff itself if you add on that (paid) service. $25 for 6 months i think.

      • Nice. Thanks!

      • +5

Have to give a shout out to Netflix for getting us all motivated to set this up so we can save money, get access to unlimited content and avoid the annoyance of juggling so many subscriptions.

      • +2

I never understood this though. RealDebrid specifically says that they keep logs of files you accessed for 30 days so what's the point of the VPN on their end when if they are served a warrant they legally have to provide the details of all the people that accessed that file and given that they are paid accounts it will be trivial and easy to track down all the users

    • +1

If you use the RD+ links when choosing a link the data is encrypted which means you don't need a VPN. I set it up last night and it is working great.

    • +2

ISPs in Australia are only looking at what IPs you’re connected to and by extension which websites your visiting. That’s why torrenting websites are blocked.

When you access Real Debrid ISPs don’t know what you’re streaming/downloading. I don’t connect to a VPN before using Stremio or accessing Real Debrid.

  • Netflix Revenue in Q4 grew 12% year over year, to $8.83 billion, higher than Netflix’s previous forecast due to favorable foreign exchange rates and “stronger than anticipated membership growth,” the company said.

    • No shit 1200+ got kickedout jeez

      • You think OZB users are the only ones who used this workaround to get cheap Netflix ? No other global forums ? :)

It will make a (short-term) dent in their user numbers.

  • I requested my personal information- took a day for it to come, some interesting captures but no 'suspicious' activity as all the logins are from my local devices. Find it under my account > download your personal information. Has stuff like IP addresses, account deets, devices, payments/billing/cust service etc… cheers

    • Sounds fun. I don't see that option under /account

your membership has already been cancelled.Your membership has ended
Ready to watch Netflix? Restart your membership any time.

      • you can get to it via [NF] (https://www.netflix.com/YourAccount). I googled netflix my account (still logged in) and got my profile deets. good luck

        • Cheers that worked. Wasn't search the correct area on the PC webpage.

Not sure why need it but why not.

  • Wise is requesting evidence of correspondence to start my claim. I only spoke to them on the phone. Does anyone have a copy of a chat transcript I could use, pl ase?

    Thank you

  • So what if you use the existing "Turkey'ed" Netflix account and subscribe to say an Indian Netflix with proper Indian issued credit card or for whatever country's sub with the appropriate country's issued credit card, but stream at outside of the subbed country location, will they penalized you by deactivating your account this time around?

  • Who could have seen this coming….

I joined Netflix for the first time in 2014, a year before it arrived officially in Australia. I'm disappointed that it's become such a difficult process. I've also decided not to renew my Netflix sub.

  • stremio debrid combo working great except on LG tv - need a firestick which is a bit annoying

  • Netflix just processed my refund for the current month. I was in the process of working with Wise to start the dispute process but seems this has been done automatically

    • yeah just wait- i read on here they'd refund or reactivate automatically. Not much loss, $10 for 10 days use here.

@skeeo Works pretty well on Google CCwGTV
no doubt the rips are focused on video not audio quality but most should be basic 5.1 hopefully (i haven't gon to the source to see if there's a nfo file etc)..Good enough for a cheaper option anyway I think.

    • +1

Heres hoping, I just did a chargeback with Macquarie but they wanted me to send them netflix's T&C's I said you can ask netflix what they are.

      • Lot of effort, do you think you violated their T&Cs?

        • +2

At a quick glance I don't think I did. I should have sent them the T&C's in turkish.

    • What did you do to make them to refund you ? I asked me to dispute the trans to my bank which is a lot of hassle for me…

      • +1

I didn't do anything other than call them and they said contact my financial institution. Not sure if they put a mark next to my name to refund but I hadn't even started the charge back process with Wise

In case anyone here is looking to get into Stremio, check out this guide from Reddit

    • Pretty good, come a way from looking for and d/l them and playing manually.

Still clunky with buffering and depending on the source file. Subtitle seem to cause a very slight hesitation. Good enough in general though once you get going but hardly better quality than Netflix. You may need over 100Mbps plan for true HD and Atmos (I'm using google TV). Nice there are some latest releases that you'd normally have to pay to watch as well.

      • +2

Real Debrid and RD+ cached links and you shouldn’t have any buffering issues.

        • It's all g, just made the settings changes below and much better. Great for what it is, more integrated than I was expecting.

    • Only catch is no app for Apple TVs. You can plug it into Infuse but you still need another device to "download" the media.

    • Any idea on Google TV tweaks?
Little bit of stuttering on one I'm watching, it has various audio streams can choose from. The trueHD+Atmos version no sound. Will have to look into it but not bad.

Wondering if there's a way to download/cache stuff to watch later on instead of on the fly with streamio.

      • Sorry not really sure, I just found Stremio today, and found that guide.

        • +3

Too easy. Good to set it up and test it out.

Just found these settings which help a lot, as well as a reboot after installing Stremio).

          Go to Stremio
settings>Playback> Frame rate matching and select Disabled,

settings > server > torrent profile and set it up to Ultra-fast

          • @G-rig: Love streamio. So many shows that are not on netflix.

    • Any tweaks for Windows version? There is too much buffering. The torrent profile is under Streaming but I can’t find the frame rate matching.

      • +1

i uninstalled and reinstalled it and it did the trick.

      • Mine seems ok, the other bits Install over the top.
I actually set it up on the PC first.
Yeah the different platforms have slightly different settings I couldn't find that either.

Ps sometimes I just select another stream from the first one - it's cool how the player remembers where you are up to. Could just try a reboot ha

    • WOW. Thanks mate. So long Netflix!

  • Cancelled - thats me done with Netflix.

    • -5

Sounds more like Netflix was done with you

  • Just reactivated my account with a gift card from Turgame. Definitely geolocked but PIA vpn is getting around it on Desktop, iPhone and Google TV.

Hopefully in 30 days ill be free to go back VPN-free (if I'm not banned by then)

I would love to just ditch Netflix completely but the family love it, I've got 4 other households all streaming separately from this account so the value is still decent.

    • Thought that they were cracking down on sharing too.
Do they have to bring their devices around to your network every 30 days? That won't last for long either, but maybe some people getting away with it.

      • There is no household IP restriction on Turkey Netflix

        • Ahh of course, survived that before those crackdown when au accounts were getting done, lol. Bit more incentive to try that then.

  • I got cancelled last night. I already have a Plex Server, so time to sail the high seas for Netflix content now.

  • +3

Didn't have Turkish Netflix but my Lebanon Adobe recently got cancelled.

  • Anyone Turgame working for new accounts? Getting

The project's quota for this operation has been exceeded.

when trying to verify my details.

    Edit Now getting

OTP Limit reached. Please try again in 7 minutes.

    • Had the same issues, just fire up a private browser wait the 5mins and started working.

      • Looks like they have removed the 2fa on the account now…. Verify next to the mobile number has disappeared.

  • Requested chargeback via Wise, they responded after a few days asking for more documentation, but then Netflix refunded the payment soon after that 🤔 (after both live chat and phone support telling me it’s not possible to refund)

    • They are just full of bollocks

  • Turkey sucks, just got back from there and didn't bother getting a netflix account because it also sucks

  • Mine got cancelled using Turkey Gift Card -> Aussie CC

I also use a Smart TV.

    • So were you paying with Turkish GC or Aussie cc?

      • I believe he meant he opened the account with GC and then transitioned to Aus CC.

  • +1

Netflix is pathetic. After so many years they finally did that… I don't really care, I've just learned what's RealDebrid.
Back to what I used to do before Netflix…

  • Day 3 using indian netflix, so going strong. Hope they don't catch me. Will update if cancelled

    • same…theyll probably cancel it after a week.

      • I think you'd want to do it with a new email signup, phone, name perhaps..and not transfer profile.

Downloaded the request of personal info from Netflix.
They got all the info including Country of registration, country of signup, membership status (former member), has rejoined etc.
        Be easy to get people.

Turns out still got a few months max via BR, they have finally converted over from HBO to MAX. Was about $70/y

        Fun challenge for the punters..

    • +3

They just cancelled my account yesterday (3 days after activation). I had to request a chargeback of $12.10

      • same

      • +1

        Same.

Was with Netflix Turkey previously for a couple of years, account cancelled on 26th Feb and on the same day I signed up for Netflix India Premium and paid via Revolut (about $12). Didn't login to any smart TVs, only my laptop and Android phone. All fine I thought, didn't watch anything until just now on my mobile phone for about 30 mins. Account immediately cancelled after an hour or so when I wanted to continue watching.

Netflix is cracking down really hard.

  • This is gold

  • +5

OP would it be possible to put the solutions people have in the original post? Might help avoid scrolling through 20 pages of comments.

    • I've added in for people to ask for refund from netflix and then buy TR gift cards.

Is there another method? I've been following India and Nigeria threads too and those have also been cancelled.

  • Mine was cancelled and i was using an AU Amex card. Have been using Turkish account for years now. About a year ago when my card expired and i had to change it i was asked for Turkish SMS verification, which i did via PingMe - but they no longer offer Turkish numbers. This also shows that they are cancelling SMS verified accounts as well, so don't rely on that.
I tried the usual stuff via live chat like asking for a SecureForm payment, but no dice they refused to bypass the SMS verification.
I ended up purchasing a Turkish Netflix giftcard from G2A (make sure your VPN is disconnected when buying as G2A will ban accounts if it detects VPN) and that worked to reactivate the account - i didn't get any region locking and was able to access netflix without my VPN being connected.
I did encounter issues activating the giftcards whilst connected to my VPN though - my usual Turkish VPN was in Bursa and it just refused to recognise the giftcard code - i then changed to Ismir and the giftcard worked right away, so if you have issues activating try a different Turskish VPN location/server.

    • I did similar but I’m geo locked unless I use a vpn to stream but then it’s slow and poor quality.

      • Was this an existing account?

  • +4

I've just set up Stremio + Real Debrid on my laptop and Google TV (via Chromecast) and this thing is flawless at the moment. Will making multiple subscription cancellations soon - will figure out whether family use the subscriptions over time lol

    • Are you watching 1080p or 4K? Are you experiencing any buffering? I setup the same last night and tried to watch Oppenheimer in 4K but it was buffering from the start. Did you make any tweaks in Settings?

      • +1

I watch in 4k, and no buffering. It might be your internet because Netflix automatically updates quality based on your internet connection. Streamio/RD+ can't do that.

        • I have 100/20, is that fast enough? Also, is it possible to download and watch later? I'm thinking of connecting a usb HDD to an Amazon Fire TV stick.

          • +1

@BellaWii: Speed doesn't matter, it just takes longer to download. I use 25/10 as not rushed to D/L for watching later. Live streaming the likes of Netflix, Kayo etc was also fine on 25/10 so Live Stream should also be more than fine with a 100/20 connection.

          • +1

@BellaWii: That's more than enough if you actually get that. Often internet is slower in peak times. Yes, you can download it, but you can't use Stremio for that. You would have to download it directly from RD.

          • +1

@BellaWii: I watched that in 4k was great on Google TV.
            Wifi 100/20.

You don't have to manually download. Look at the settings I posted a page up or so. Reboot your device too after installing.

            • +1

@G-rig: Perhaps include the link to your Settings post which is HERE :-)
