    • for $50 why not double?

    • Whats so great about the N4?

      • Can you find a better phone for $349/$399+$29?

  • I've added a 16gb N4 to my cart and it won't checkout….damn it…

    • same. out of stock I guess.

  • -3

Might be a cheap phone compared to the competition but at rrp this belongs in the forums imo :)

    • Dunno, I kinda see it as a bargain, simply because nobody has been able to buy it at RRP.

The "normal" price is the inflated prices you see everywhere, so when Google does get stock (which has been rare and limited), "RRP" becomes the bargain.

The RRP is not a valid price if nobody can buy it.

  • N10 16GB $469 + $20 delivery i.e. only $10 cheaper than iPad $499 pickup in store @BigW or Target?

    • -1

An arguably better tablet (better specifications all round), running android and with all the fruit that goes along with google flagship models. and still cheaper (delivered)? seems like a good deal to me.

      • Android or IOS is personal preference. I'm not sure if the hardware is a lot better than iPad but I thought N10 16GB would be at $399 to make sure of Apple share price to plunge.

        • the screen is better, the processor is better, the performance (for general use) is better. Obviously if you are an iOS person as opposed to an android person this isn't even close to being a deal. but then you can't even compare the products, if you are not interested in the operating system. the fact remains, this is superior hardware for a lower price. if you ignore design aesthetics and OS in that comparison

        • I'm an Android fan.
Recently I was given the task of finding a tablet for my mother. Whilst the N10 has greater specs, the screen of the iPad (latest gen) is IPS, which does look better than the N10. Factor in ~2 hours better battery life and more tablet-optimized apps, which made my choice a little easier in choosing the iPad. However, if I were buying for myself, I wouldn't hesitate and buy the N10.

  • let us know what cases & screen protectors you guys get for the N4

  • Anyone knows how is the battery life for N4? I used to have an old LG phone battery life down to 50% after 1/2 year i.e. a bit dodgy.

    • I've had mine for about a month now. I find it to be better than my S3, which i had for 6 months. Easily have spare capacity in the battery after a day of moderate use (some videos, games, text and calls). I'd call it at least equal to the S3 battery life with no qualms.

      Huh??
What's not legit about Google selling its own product?

  • Wireless Changing ?!?!?!?!?!

Am I out, I believe it is a big Breakthrough.

  • not letting me buy :( keeps telling me to try later >:(

  • i want the 16gb but it wont let me checkout, 8gb will let me checkout but i dont want that.

  • are you getting the "An error occurred while processing your purchase. Please try again later."
    message in the top bar?

    • Yep

      • +1

missed it. Ah well, $400 saved.

  • Everytime I click the links on my phone it redirects me to the google play home screen

Is there any way to buy this through the app store? I want to charge it to my telstra bill.

  • It won't take my money for the 16GB :'(

    • +2

i know, google just take my money!

  • +1

Been clicking [proceed] for the past hour every 30 secs…that's dedication…still nothing…

    • Every 30 seconds, I've been clicking everytime the button becomes available, for around half an hour…

      • +1

LOL…that's literally a figure of speech regarding the 30 secs..i am doing it once the [proceed] button is available again (just like you)….I am sure there's many of us out there all doing the same thing…If I don't get the N4 this time around, I am gonna boycott the N4…Been holding out so long for it…

        • Same, otherwise we can just hope for that Motorola X

        • I don't get it…it's in my shopping cart..and if it was out of stock, an error would occur to say that the item in my cart is no longer available…

Instead, it says "an error has occurred…"

  • NOOOOO! It won't let me purchase! Damn you google!

  • -3

16GB with no SD is not enough for me. About half of that is reserved for the OS leaving you with not much space for apps or media.

They need to offer a 32GB version of Nexus 4, though even still it's been surpassed by a new wave of better phones (with 1080p screens) from competitors. Just not for that price.

Also, I'd like a 64GB Nexus 10, or 32GB with Cellular. They need to do it quick, not wait almost a year like they did with Nexus 7.

Otherwise, google's offerings are not adequate for my needs.

    • +4

16GB with no SD is not enough for me. About half of that is reserved for the OS leaving you with not much space for apps or media.

That's a bit overblown. You get 12.92GB free out of a 16GB phone, which is a lot more than half.
      The 8GB has 5.67GB free.

      • Its not bad at all if your happy with 16GB's ..
With my S3 i got the 16GB model on a contract but added a 32GB MicroSD for $20 rocking 48GB's and its "just enough for my needs"

        • 16GB used to be fine for me, but the S3's camera, being so quick to use, made me chew through it quickly. I ended up having to add a microSD card to store all the photos on.

      • +4

8gb is a bit below everyone's needs…if only it had a micro SD slot, I would buy the 8gb version now…

5.67gb…that's like selling a 2gb usb drive when the market standard is 16gb min…

        • +3

It's definitely too small for me, but fine for my parents. They don't take many photos and certainly aren't going to be copying videos to it. Their 20 CDs will fit very comfortably too, and they won't be playing any large games either.

They also won't be filling up a 2GB USB drive anytime soon. :)

      • That's a bit overblown. You get 12.92GB free out of a 16GB phone, which is a lot more than half.

Still not enough for me. Even if 100% of it was available it still wouldn't be enough.

Don't know why I needed to be downvoted for needing more space.

"More than half" of a tiny amount is still a tiny amount. In fact, it's even less than a tiny amount.

You're restricting the things you can do with the phone by having so little space. Certain things won't fit, like a season of a TV show for instance. You'll only be able to store a few episodes at a time and go through the hassle of changing them every day. Some apps are very big which you won't be able to peruse.

        • Still not enough for me. Even if 100% of it was available it still wouldn't be enough.

Don't know why I needed to be downvoted for needing more space.

So what it if is not enough, each person needs is different. But saying almost 50% of 16GB is needed for the OS is quite an exaggeration when it is actually 19.25%.

        • +1

Don't know why I needed to be downvoted for needing more space.

It was probably your inaccurate math leading to an inaccurate sensationalist statement. :)

You're restricting the things you can do with the phone by having so little space. Certain things won't fit, like a season of a TV show for instance.

The phone obviously isn't for people like you (and me).

Different people use their phones differently. I know many, many people who would never ever care about copying videos of any kind to their phone. They would never bother downloading large apps either.

The fact that the phone is sold out everywhere all the time shows that there are many, many people out there who have absolutely no issue with a $349 8GB or $399 16GB phone.

        • So what it if is not enough, each person needs is different. But saying almost 50% of 16GB is needed for the OS is quite an exaggeration when it is actually 19.25%.

I'm not saying it's not enough for you. I'm only saying it's not enough for me.

Didn't know that wasn't allowed. I mean, you don't have to care what I think, but a downvote tells me you do.

By the way, if you have the 8GB version, it's 29% not 19.25%. Still quite a big amount.

"Almost 50%" was never intended a precise figure. Everyone exaggerates to illustrate a point. No need to get picky. I just assumed you would be able to spot when people do that.

For some odd reason, according to your figures, if you have a 16GB phone you lose 3.08GB to the OS. But if you have a 8GB you only lose 2.33GB to the OS. Do they run on a different OS?

What disappoints me is that an extra 16GB is not that expensive to add. Flash memory these days is cheap. There's no reason they can't offer another model. They can even charge an extra $50 for it and make an easy profit off it, Apple style. Instead they'd rather push people like me away.

        • -1

It was probably your inaccurate math leading to an inaccurate sensationalist statement. :)

Figurative speech. You've never heard someone exagerate to make a point? The figure doesn't have to be accurate for the meaning to be true. Example: I don't know why I bother inviting you over for dinner John. Half the time you don't even show up.

Now if you were to count up the amount of times John is invited for dinner, and doesn't show up, I doubt it will be exactly 50%. It may, maybe even as low as 10%, but the 'half' bit isn't important. It's to illustrate the point that he seems to not show up a bit in recent memory and it's annoying.

I don't literally mean that the OS will take up almost 50% of it accurate to one decimal space. I'm just exaggerating, because you're still going to lose a few GB, which is big when you only have 8 or 16. Doubly so when most high end Android phones that are not Nexus based and have no SD card slots come with 32GB (e.g. Xperia S, HTC One X).

A few GBs lost to the OS is thousands of hours worth of songs or about 3 episodes of HD TV shows.

Different people use their phones differently. I know many, many people who would never ever care about copying videos of any kind to their phone. They would never bother downloading large apps either.

I don't believe I told people not to buy it. I only said that it wasn't suited for me. As I said, you don't have to care what meets my needs, but a downvote suggests you do.

The fact that the phone is sold out everywhere all the time shows that there are many, many people out there who have absolutely no issue with a $349 8GB or $399 16GB phone.

It only tells us that demand outstrips supply. It doesn't tell us how much demand there actually is for it. It could just be they were severely supply constrained. If you only make 100,000 units and you're slow at making more, of course they are going to be sold out everywhere. Do we actually know how many they made though?

I could make one chair, sell it and not make any more, and then claim that my product is in high demand because it's sold out.

Different people use their phones differently. I know many, many people who would never ever care about copying videos of any kind to their phone. They would never bother downloading large apps either.

That's a fair point, however, much of the potential of the phone is lost when certain functions are limited by space. If you don't need those things, one can argue you could get a lower end phone for your needs and save money.

Anyway, if you downvote this (after I've explained the almost 50% thing), I'm going to assume you have insecurities about me not liking the product you want.

        • +1

Figurative speech. You've never heard someone exagerate to make a point?

C'mon, you know you're just trying to cover your ass here. In your first reply you said even 12.92GB is still not enough for you, followed by "more than half" is "still a tiny amount". That implies that you weren't aware that it was 12.92GB free.

The use of the word "about" at the start of the sentence conveys a sense of accuracy. "That house costs about $800,000" means the house is in the region of $800k, not $500k.

I don't know why I bother inviting you over for dinner John. Half the time you don't even show up.

You are changing the example to conveniently suit you. A more accurate example would be
"You don't show up about half the time".

Do we actually know how many they made though?

No. And it's completely irrelevant. If they only made 500,000 phones, that means more than 500,000 people think 8GB or 16GB is sufficient for them.

Anyway, if you downvote this (after I've explained the almost 50% thing), I'm going to assume you have insecurities about me not liking the product you want.

My my, why are you so sensitive to downvotes? You're getting too emotional over this. So emotional that you totally didn't read the part where I said this phone is not for me because the storage is too small.

Lighten up. There's nothing wrong with admitting a post might have not been worded properly. 13GB out of 16GB is not "about half", that's it. No need to defend everything every time. I've made mistakes in posts before and am glad to admit it.

        • For some odd reason, according to your figures, if you have a 16GB phone you lose 3.08GB to the OS. But if you have a 8GB you only lose 2.33GB to the OS. Do they run on a different OS?

You're forgetting that the specified storage space is never the actual usable space. e.g. my 16GB iPhone is 14.xxGB. That's pretty basic knowledge…

  • I've been trying too. The 16gb must be out of stock. Lets you get the 8GB. Its not much but for $349 you can't have everything. Just means replacing films etc every couple of days rather than once a week. I can cope with that

    • +7

Nah man, it's a digital camera. You don't need to change the film at all….

      :D

    • You watch movies on your phone?

  • I wish the Nexus 10, 16GB or 32GB were in stock! :)

  • for a second there i though it took me to the next step but then it told me to try again later…….

  • The nexus killer phone, for sure it's gonna kill iPhones and out run there sales.

  • Somehow, after clicking proceed for hours, I finally was able to buy the Nexus 16gb!

  • +1

YESS, GOOGLE TOOK MY MONEY FOR THE 16GB!!!!!

    • I just hope it wasn't a glitch!

    • now it's the waiting game

    • i though google debit the card once the phone has been shipped?

      • "You've made a purchase on Google Play. You will not be charged until your order has shipped."

        • and yet i've been charged??

          maybe i'll get it soon???

        • That's weird. I'll check to see if I've been charged too.

        • Weird indeed. I can confirm I've also been charged, but I received the email saying I wont be charged until it ships.

        • Anyone else experience this?

        • I was also charged as soon as I bought it and I just received an email saying that it has been shipped.

        • Lucky!

    • wut.

  • Bought the 16gb N4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! F'ing finally……..

    • Aaaaaand IT'S GONE!!!!

      • My invoice just arrived to my gmail…so I am stoked!

Maybe becuase I had it in my shopping cart since 11:30am this morning and have refreshed it so many times perhaps?

        • Did you have to refresh for it to work or just click proceed each time?

  • Nexus 10 and 4 not in stock anymore.

    • Nexus 4 still in stock for me.

    • Nexus 10 was not in stock, was it?

    • was Nexus 10 ever in stock? this relisting was only for the Nexus 4

  • Well, took a good deal of the day repeatedly pressing the purchase button but eventually the 'error has occurred' disappeared and allowed me to buy my Nexus 4, cheers OP

  • I go away for a bit and bam. I miss it.

    • Mate, should have been persistent…I am still stoked about my luck…

      • -1

        It's still in stock…

        • Have you tried to proceed to checkout because that is where the error is occurring?

  • +3

This is ridiculous. Is this product a loss leader, or just intended to generate a headline? If its only available for three hours out of every three months…

    • It's that good, :D

    • America has allot of stock for the N4, N7 and N10.. the issue is that in Australia we have money to burn and we snap up these phones and tablets as soon as they are in stock!

      • Spain was sold out in 10 minutes. I don't know if google/ LG have done their job researching how many units are needed per country.

What bugged me is why the …. It is still letting people add it to the shopping cart and then shows error. Pretty poor.

      • Every European country sells out faster than we do I believe. They pay through the nose for unlocked and on-contract phones so the N4 is that much more attractive (even if it's marked up.)

  • nexus 4 still available for me, is it a good price?

    • Yes

    • Considering Mr Norman is selling it for $496 tmrw…at just under $420 delivered by Google, I would consider it a very good price…Also, you just have to look at the demand for this phone…That's a sign of endorsement that the product is good and at a very good price!

I have also read somewhere that some EU Countries pay $600+ for theirs…this is probably the "true" reflective price of the product since you are up against Samsung's S3 and iPhone 5 (iPhone users, before you battter me to death, yes I know…it's comparing Apples with oranges - pardon the pun)…

  • ah i get error when i try to pay too lol

  • any hints for those that managed to get past the error?

    • It's out of stock. The "Ships in 2-3 weeks" is a misnomer since it's now on back order. Give it a while before they update the page so you won't be able to add to cart.

  • +1

I was salivating for this phone late last year and couldn't get it. Now my raging hard-on for this phone has subsided and all the other 1080p Android phones like the HTC M7 and Galaxy S IV are around the corner, so I'll wait. Maybe the Google Play Store clusterf*ck was a blessing in disguise.

  • does anyone know a cheap plan with good data speeds for this phone?

  • 16gb sold out, GG!
