what is raspberry pi used for?
The Raspberry Pi is a versatile single-board computer used for a wide range of applications. Here are some common uses:
Educational Purposes: It's an affordable tool for teaching programming, computer science, and electronics. Many educational programs and curricula use it to help students learn to code and understand hardware.
DIY Projects: Hobbyists and makers use Raspberry Pi for creating various DIY electronics projects, such as home automation systems, robots, and custom gadgets.
Media Centers: It can be used as a media center by installing software like Kodi, transforming it into a device for streaming and playing multimedia content.
Web Servers: Raspberry Pi can host small-scale web servers, making it ideal for personal websites, blogs, or even lightweight web applications.
Home Automation: With the help of sensors and other peripherals, it can control and automate home devices, like lights, thermostats, and security systems.
Retro Gaming: Enthusiasts use Raspberry Pi to emulate classic gaming consoles, running old games from systems like NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis.
Networking Projects: It can act as a network monitor, VPN server, or even a small-scale router.
IoT (Internet of Things): Raspberry Pi is frequently used in IoT projects, collecting and processing data from various sensors and devices connected to the internet.
Industrial Applications: It is increasingly used in industrial settings for monitoring and controlling machinery and processes.
Scientific Research: Researchers use it for data collection, experiments, and prototyping in various fields of science.
The Raspberry Pi's low cost, flexibility, and community support make it a popular choice for these and many other applications.
@geekcohen: ty lord ChatGPT!
@geekcohen: Dude really just used a search engine to answer the question.
@DarnyBoy1982: That's what happens when people don't use a search engine when asking questions.
@smartazz104: Touche
@DarnyBoy1982: Maybe tell it to @s26f84
Plus, ChatGPT has almost become my search engine in some cases.
usually people eat these. Its a delightful desert.
what's a good size sd card for a rpi 5 with 4GB ram?
not sure what projects I'll run on it, but probably nothing storage hungry.
pretty much 128gb and above. depends what you want to do with it.
@kungfuman: is the large capacity mainly for prolonging the sd card lifetime in rpi's ?
@Hellcrusher3304: nah its more for what files you want ot put on it, eg a media device or a gaming device.
even for a NAS setup you wouldn't need a big sd card.
2024 has better speeds
Been this price at OfficeWorks for at least the last week
You should have posted it…
Actually, if what he says is true, then you could actually try price matching this in officeworks!
It’s the same price so no price match
@azzaisawesome: No, officework price match means they will beat the price by 5% so it will end up cheaper. That being said, there is almost zero stock for this specific microsd around me so maybe better luck for other folks
@lesher: Yeah, that's not how it works.
If someone has a LOWER price then they will beat it by 5%. If it's the same price, they won't.
So if someone else had it for $18.99, they'd need to beat it by 5%. But if it's $19, they don't.@mmrazz: Huh, i could have sworn i checked officeworks earlier and the price is higher than $19 for this microsd hence why I said the price matching. I think i hallucinated it, oops
Thanks got one for Switch
How good do you guys think this would be in DJI bestselling drones?
Got one for my motorbike helmet cam, thanks OP!
you would be better off with an endurance card, like https://www.amazon.com.au/Sandisk-Endurance-microSDXCTM-Adap…
$25.22
(assuming you ride frequently and need loop recording)
Grabbed one for my PI 400 kit I got a little while ago from Jaycar, cheers.
Need a 512gb deal for switch
Amen
This OK for GoPro?
Is this good for a dashcam? Or should we get the endurance?
get an endurance version
check your dashcam's compatibility list - some can be fussy
i have this one in my dashcam for over 6 years. no any problems. however, it is up to you if you want to spend more on the endurance.
I need to give my Motorola G54 some extra storage… This deal or something else?
