Metrocom is selling preloved Netgear RBK352 router and satellite packages via ebay for $149 shipped. With code FEBSAVE you can reduce that to $139. Other codes like TOPFEB6 may work, but lower discount, so would not use that
These are mesh devices. Key benefit of a mesh is that they are heaps easier to manage compared to a router with extenders.
To provide context AX1800 is a lower end spec, best suited to smallish households.
To some, myself included, the RBS350 satellite is what is of interest here, by itself that one goes for around this cost, arguably a free router
The RBS350 can be added as a satellite to a Netgear RBR850 or RBR750, see https://kb.netgear.com/000065169/Which-Orbi-routers-and-sate… if that is of interest to you. As the RBS350 is AX1800 only, whatever attaches to the RBS350 will be limited to the capabilities of the RBS350.
And for info, unlike with the RBR50, for the RBR350 there isn't a well documented way to convert RBR350 routers to satellites, but for those enjoying a hack, on reddit there are some references to a tool that enables conversion of routers to satellite, see https://www.reddit.com/r/orbi/comments/144ucei/converting_rb… as I dont need the router, I will give that a go when I receive mine, see what happens
The older RBK50 (RBR50 + RBS50) is available https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/256420978462 also, $129 shipped before code is applied, $119 after code.
And for awareness, in a mesh a RBS50 is definitely not compatible with later generations RBR350/RBR750/RBR850, and the reverse is true also, an RBS350 will not work with an RBR50
Bought it earlier today at $129-$10=$119, price before code has since been bumped to $149, description has been adjusted
