    Perfect for Bali

Yep a work colleague of mine left for Bali today, proudly told me they spend $120 on Diarrhoea Relief, Travel Ease and ibuprofen and paracetamol…. Eye roll

    • Is Bali really that bad for it?

        Never heard of Bali belly?

        • +1

Had to Google, if I was to travel to Bali is this avoidable at all or not really?

          • +2

@lookingforadeal7: Been to Bali a few times so far, never had it. You just need to follow some common sense. Dont drink or eat anything from questionable sources.

@KaTst3R: Been to 23 countries inc India then decided to visit Bali and got bali belly lol

I think i got it from the hotel food.

@KaTst3R: I just spent 3 days in Bali with my GF.

We ate the same thing for every meal, all good… until the last day…

A highly rated and very popular Mexican Restaurant… guts were churning violently within an hour after eating. I was sick for a week. Definitely not 'questionable'… sometimes it is just bad practices (them) + bad luck (you)

Literally was there for 3 days and got it. Have done multiple trips to Asia and lived there for over a year (tough gut).

I actually recommend charcoal tablets for something more natural if you have a milder case. No idea why these are $20 in Australia, they are $2 overseas.

People don't realize this but loperamide is actually a narcotic like morphine and fentanyl (it stimulates Opioid receptors). One of the most well know effects of opioids are of course constipation (they paralyze the gut). The reason Loperamide isn't Schedule 8 is because only 0.3% of it makes it through the liver (portal circulation) without being metabolically inactivated. Even if you used a mortal and pestle to grind it up, dissolve it and inject it, you wouldn't get much of a high because it the molecule has trouble passing the blood brain barrier.

Structurally it is nothing like morphine (which is 5 fused rings); it looks much closer to fentanyl. Fentanyl has 3 separate (nonfused) hexagonal rings, loperamide had 4. I did 1 first year Organic Chemistry subject at University, so I only the the names of a few of all of the possible ring structures (like an azole), and have no idea how to synthesise one molecule from a certain precursor.

    • That's cool
