There's so many version of these out there - what is the difference between them?

  • Any adapter for android auto and apple car play that works 💯 all the time?

    • +3

I've had a good experience with aawireles

      • Can you pls share link?

      • I had a bad experience with AAWireless.

Took me an hour to get it to connect properly, it needed to be reset every couple of weeks, then one day after 3ish months, it stopped working completely.

        • This. Mine worked brilliantly. Once. Never worked again.

      • The AAwireless adapter found from Amazon.com.au seems to be an older hardware version. And their webshop at aawireless.io advertises "Fast worldwide shipping", but when you get to the checkout, there is no Australia to be seen. I personally bought this for $99: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0C9WTWQ3J But I've only had it for three days. It was very easy to set up, connects quite quickly and I haven't had any issues with the speed or audio quality. But I've only done a handful a short trips with it, so not really conslusive at this point.

      • Not sure if it's an issue solely related to AAWireless or if other units have the same issues, but I had a lot of dropouts (shows as phone not responding, then takes a few minutes to reconnect) in certain areas, largely narrowed it down to toll points (M7 and cross city tunnel were definites) but there were also a few areas with no obvious cause where it did the same. Changing the wireless channels that it used in the AAWireless app improved things quite a bit, but I do still get the occasional dropout in some areas (not ones I go often enough to really be worth troubleshooting further).
Also pretty sure aawireless are android only, won't do apple car play - there are some (eg carlinkit) that do both.

    • I bought this one in June last year. Haven't had a problem with it yet. I've used it for both iPhone and Android
      https://www.lightinthebox.com/en/p/product_p9543179.html
It was a bit cheaper than that when I bought it

    • I have been using the carlinkt for both, works like a charm

      • No lag?

        • Nope

    • using AAwirless. everything is good. It load very fast like stock one.

    Will this work for cybertruck?

  • Thanks OP

  • Can this unit force the audio to go through a separate output instead of the headunit? I have a portable AA screen and the audio quality no matter what is terrible and is effected by ground noise. I need something to force the audio only to go through a separate device while having AA running on the screen.

    • The Carsifi (as below) can GOTO whatever device that has both wifi and Bluetooth. Maybe this is the same?

If anyone's curious about this Motorola MA1 Adapter vs AAWireless, I initially had the Motorola and it mostly worked fine until one day it died without warning (8 months old). Apart from dying, I used to have a few issues sometimes with it refusing to connect after updates on my phone. What I like better about the AAWireless module is that it's performance is identical (quick connection time) but it has an App so you can update the firmware and also troubleshoot any connection issues.

    • AA didn't work for me since after connecting a 2nd phone it forgot the 1st one. Texted them and they were no help, otherwise it worked as it should.
Just bought this ma1 the other day for $135. Haven't throughly tested it yet though. Hopefully it remebers both phones.

      • I haven't tried connecting two phones to the AAWireless but I could never get two phones connected to the MA1.

        • Mine is fine with the 2nd phone and remebers the 1st one. It was not possible with AA.

  • So this is to make your wired Android auto wireless? Is that the only thing it does?

    • +1

      Yes, that's it.

  • Seems a lot, as it is more than I paid for a tablet plus cables plus Android Auto software. (for my old non-AA car)

My cheap AliExpress one still going strong

  • I gave up waiting on this. I ended up getting Carsifi currently $137.82 plus 5% off if you subscribe.

  • Description is confusing on Amazon. It says to pair Bluetooth to the MA1, doesn't mention making a WiFi connection?

    • You need to pair it, but after that AA uses Wifi.

  • Thanks. Replaced my Motorola which had died on me

  • I have this. It works as well as AA does with other cars that have wireless AA, which is not all that well. Get near a cell tower and it drops out completely.

I got one of these… $80 on Amazon. Works perfect. Don't see why you'd spend $50 more for the Motorola.
