[NSW] Wacom Intuos - Wired, Size Small $29.99 @ ALDI, North Strathfield

580

Edit: I spotted this for sale at the same price at ALDI Canterbury NSW today 29-02-2024.
This one has a choice of one software and not three. I do not know how many, at the cashier 1.

lyksis has commented that there is no stock left now at this store.

Sorry about the shadow in the picture.

This is at the Aldi North Strathfield, NSW store.

I know this is very cheap.
$29.99 for a Wacom Intuos (Small- Wired, Black)
Model is CTL-4100 K0-CX

Cheapest online I see is about $79 up to $139.
There is nice pile at this store, it won't last long now I have posted. I am sure some Broden/reseller will scoop these up.
The Transformers Monopoly is $6.99 if you are interested in them as in the picture.

Note if you cannot draw with pencil and paper, this will not improve your skills. Trust me on that, maybe good for MSpaint diagrams though.

You don't need this but it really cheap….

nice, these are great for kids

Fantastic price! And if the quality is anything like my Intuos Pro, it will be built like a tank.

Edit: Seems to come with extra software (info taken from Amazon AU listing, ALDI box has the same sticker on front)

Includes free downloadable software upon product setup/registration: Clip Studio Paint Pro - 2 year licence (comic/ manga), Corel Painter Essentials 8 - 90 day licence (graphic drawing) or Corel After Shot 3 - 90 day licence (photo-editing

Worth it just for the 2-year Clip Studio PRO licence. (Annual pass is normally US$9.99)

Yes, on the box it says "3 Bonus Software", "Choose 3 of 3 creative software downloads". No license terms on the box though.

    Dick Smith hates this.

they are being a dick about this

  • Always wanted to try one

Do not expect much they have the crappiest software in the base version

I do a lot of digital artwork with a mouse and bought a similar small Wacom drawing pad years ago thinking it would help me go to the next level. I never use it, it's way too small to move the pen very far before hitting the edge, and it turns out drawing with a handheld pen device isn't easy without tons and tons of practice.

  • any stock in VIC?

    • +1

As far as I know ALDI does not price match between it's own stores. It's just store stock, this was marked Clearance. Just searching this was a Special Buy from 22 November 2023 for $59.99.
I did not notice these available (not that I was looking for it) in other stores I visited in December, I just saw it in this store today. Just need to try your luck.

    Can you OZBARGAIN on it?

Ah, I bought one for $59.99 a couple of weeks ago at my local store. They had about 10 of them. I do a lot of training and wanted to try this as a tool to simulate a whiteboard sesh.

    • try this as a tool to simulate a whiteboard sesh.

      And how has it been?

If there's no stock near you, can pick up similar units on Amazon too like this 6x4" for $33.

Bought the Wacom One from Aldi about 8 years ago for $40 if I remember correctly. Died recently and replaced with this 10x6" for $40 something (is often on sale) but looks like plenty of XP-PEN ones around $50 for the same size. If I bought again would probably get a wireless model though.

I've bought the similar Intuous product that features Bluetooth and it was rubbish - save your money and don't buy it.

I kept bumping the trackpad with my hand as I wrote on it, and the pen would jump around all over the screen. I had to 'hover' the pen over the trackpad for it to kinda work. My 10 yo hated it and hasn't used it since.

You need to install custom software and on my Mac is klunky and slow, not to mention it comes with old school usb connectors.

    0/5 stars would not recommend.

    • it should only be sensitive to the tip of the pen and not your palm, can anyone else chime in?

      • +1

idk about the bluetooth version but the one in this posting doesn't have this problem

I've used Wacom tablets for years and what ryanhunt described sounds like he had Touch Input enabled. You can disable it in settings.

        https://101.wacom.com/UserHelp/en/TouchGesturesSetup_Display…

        • Thanks for the tip (pun intended)! Maybe I'll give it another go on the weekend :)

          • @ryanhunt: Some of them have a hardware toggle/switch on the tablet itself with an icon that looks like a hand/finger pointing, while others that support Touch Input require you to disable it in the driver or Wacom Desktop Centre software.

I've only ever used Touch Input very briefly, but I think it's only meant to be used when you want to use your tablet like a trackpad, otherwise you should keep the setting off.

You should've disabled Touch Input in Wacom settings - that would've fixed it.

  • Can this be used to edit videos on a timeline on an iPad?

"You don't need this but it really cheap…."

I'll be the judge of that muhahhahah

I had a similar one bought from ALDI some years back. I didnt realize how difficult it is for me to use the pen tablet without looking at where i am drawing - so the use experience wasnt that great for me. Ppl tell me it is like using a mouse and u dont have to see where you are moving the mouse on the desk - but I feel using this pen thingy is so uncomfortable.

    • +1

Like anything it's a skill you learn the more you use it.

  • +1

I found it tricky to use as the distance moved on the pad was not directly correlated to what you saw on your monitor. After using this, I upgraded to a more expensive pen tablet with a screen and that has been a joy to use! On many laptops, it will connect directly with just a single USB C connection, giving it power, video and input in 1 connector.

    • Which model with screen did you get?

  • +1

maybe good for MSpaint diagrams though

Ozbargain Crash Describer 3000 Pro Max

    • heh

  • Sold out already!

  • None at Edgecliff unfortunately.

    • I spotted today at Aldi Canterbury has one on display at the cashier for the same price. How many I do not know.

  • This was redeemable using creative kids voucher at some point. They paired it with a couple of Youtube tutorials to stay within the rules.

Then the rules changed, lessons must be in person or interactive online, no pre-recorded videos, so party's over.

    • And that is exactly how we got ours

  • No stock at ALDI Cheltenham.

  • I guess there is no need for these since Ai will replace all graphics designers in 5yrs

    • Sadly what you are saying maybe true. What is generated in 30 seconds is better than anything I could create in a lifetime.. :(
Going forward a few years it would be hard to spot an AI generated image. What a dangerous world we live in where we cannot believe what we are seeing.

      • I've been following ai development for about 10 years, even pessimistic tip of the spear folks didn't predict this coming so fast. And the plugins now are going to explode. Agents writing their own reward functions…eech. not great

My thinking is we end up with a labour vacuum like no other in the past (previously tech innovations that the industrial revolution produced moved at human pace, this is moving much faster).

I watched/read about a paper around a specified set of task (cant remember exacty, just typical white collar computer tasks, read this pdf, summerise, email this person, etc etc.). The tasks would take a human almost 1.5hr at human wages - the machine did it in 45 seconds and cost $1.14 US in tokens….

I read UBI (universal basic income) is a nice idea to fill the hole, but recent papers show its waaaay too expensive.

No easy answers. I agree with you, its going to be a dangerous world, but possibly an amazing world on the other side of it.

What freaks me out is the lack of understanding of both the general public and political sphere
about what is here already (the uk just did a big talk fest about it but not much came out of it). We will end up wtih (guestimation) lets say 1000yrs of innovations in 100yr.

I heard it described like a cultural Asteroid about to hit earth and nobody really seems to all too concerned.

        • To take that analogy, what can an average Joe do about an asteroid coming at you. It's almost completely out of your control.

          • @boretentsu: Totally! And it's almost certainly impossible to stop or put back in the bottle.

With an Asteroid I would expect at least some people screaming in the streets! 😀 The Hollywood union strikes is sort of like that, it can help to regulate, but in two decades, it won't matter anyway.

            Strap in 😬

  • If anyone is still reading this.

Today 29-02-2024 I spotted this at Aldi Canterbury NSW, the item is at the cashier 1 marked at $29.99 too.
I do not know how many they have, they had one on display. It's not that obvious if you are not looking.
This is one is marked for one free software and not three like the other one.
