$58 Each Window 8 Upgrade (Retail Disc) NATIONWIDE - Harvey Norman

451

Was reading the West Australian this morning and found a cheaper window 8 upgrade than the recommended retail price. $18 more expensive than the $40 digital download (I assume that the server will be hammered tomorrow with alot of people leeching).

Also another image link taken with my Iphone 5 :)

Was hoping MS would pay me $58 for every PC I upgrade to Window 8. No deal.

  • 80 comment and only 14 plus, the heck going on?

    • people are all talk no action

I'll be back here using IE 10 tomorrow. All action here baby.

    • +'d for the deal and for having an awesome name/avatar.

Should go to Officeworks, they have it for $68 currently. Go in store and get it for 5% less. 95% x $58= $55.10. Link to OW (https://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/So…)

    • They wont till release. Already tried.

      • Then all you need to do is show my newspaper clip only if Harvey Norman decide to deactivate the price by tomorrow.

        • they dont accept that they must always confirm or double check it online! .. its how they roll! ..

        • Best get those preorder button clicking folks.

      • OW will update their price to $58 tomorrow.

  • As a side note, if your machine has UEFI, use it. My Windows 8 laptop now boots in about 8 seconds.

    • What do you mean use it?

      • Select to use it instead of BIOS and rebuild the machine using the efi boot file (not sure if you can upgrade a Windows 7 sitting on BIOS to UEFI native).

My windows 8 desktop with a Samsung 830 256GB SSD boots in 2 seconds but after tweaking it a little bit it now boots in 7 seconds…

FYI … Windows 8 uses Hibernation BS .. always turn off hibernation as this is just wasted writes to your SSD.

Rule number 1 - Never use Hibernation with an SSD

  • So this deal is for a full retail upgrade pack [not oem] that can be used in the future on any new computers as i replace old computers?

I can use it on one PC at a time as i replace them, like vista/win 7 retail upgrade packs?

OEM version can only legally be used on the pc it was originally installed on.

The $14.99 deal would be OEM … correct?

    • +2

$14.99 deal is the same thing as this one!

Microsoft has relaxed its rules for OEM and Retail… there is now only OEM .. NO MORE RETAIL

All copies of Microsoft windows 8 can be installed on a PC! if that motherboard dies.. you replace it and use the same copy of windows… new motherboard = new pc pretty much .. so you can install it multiple times on the same PC or to another PC i guess (not at the same time).. if you have any issues activating it you just call Microsoft tell them your PC died you fixed it and are reinstalling and they will help you.

  • awesome deal

    $48.72

    at Officeworks…

  • I'm wondering: how's the availability of Windows 7 going to be following W8 release? I've been planning on buying another copy for a while, but was going to wait for a possible price drop.
I know stores still have it, at the moment, but I'll be kicking myself if it disappears altogether soon.

  • Has anyone been able to pick it up in store yet? It says in stock? Wasn't it suppose to be avaible today and the email
said we will be told once its ready to pickup?
