  • 4090!

    • derp, all fixed

Price for the 7500f model in description is wrong, $1588 would be a cracking price

    • Lol, another derp, thanks for pointing out

    • Aha dang I was about to hit the button 😭

    • Wish it was tru…

      • +1

Hopefully by the time 5xxx series comes out

        • My 7 year old laptop might disagree haha…

          • @StephenCurry: Rip, I want to get a gaming laptop but the current price of laptops is insane

            • @lookingforadeal7: I mean yea it is crazy… But bro you nailed that BPC 6800 deal! I wish I didn't miss that one. Definitely bang for buck!!

              • +1

@StephenCurry: Yeah I ended up getting rid of it for the same price I bought it for a few months later, will be looking at getting another build towards the end of the year

            • @lookingforadeal7: Unless you specifically need the mobility for a gaming laptop, I'd avoid it.
Most of them throttle HARD because of ineffective cooling, components degrade a lot quicker for the same reason and sound like a turbine in a wind tunnel whilst gaming.
Generally, expect it to run 90C+ when gaming.

              • @Dipaty: Yeah I had a Dell G7 with 2060 in it and it would throttle hard, I learnt after a few years turning Intel Turbo Boost off in bios settings fixed it a little but it definitely took affect on the laptop. I just want one for the mobility and I like to game and edit outside sometimes, I would want something with a 4070 and capable CPU so looking at the price of one of these for anything decent.

                • +1

@lookingforadeal7: Yeah I'm in the same boat, have a Dell G7 with a 2070 super and it throttles like no tomorrow, could probably cook an egg on the lid after gaming for 20min
I've had to underclock, undervolt and use a third party cooler to avoid it - which heavily defeats the purpose of the specs and mobility.

                  • @Dipaty: Yeah it's a shame because it was my first real gaming laptop and wasn't really the best experience, I like the form factor of the Asus Rog Flows so I might invest in one of those later down the line, I spend most my time outside so need a good screen as well.

                    • @lookingforadeal7: Yeah same here, but I've also seen a few others in action from friends - if you must get a gaming laptop, I'd recommend going for a Lenovo Legion.
From what I've seen (obviously taking the silicone lottery into account), they seem to run coolest with a good balance of specs/price.
Can't match the sale prices of Dell, but you get what you pay for, and they usually run a lot cooler than Asus ROGs, HP and Acers.
They're also one of the only manufacturers that use Honeywell PTM 7950 (almost equivalent to liquid metal) for their thermal paste/pads, so that's a huge benefit.

                      • @Dipaty: I'll definitely do some research on them, they seem to be good build quality and with cash back the price is reasonable. I'll keep an eye out for legion pro 5 with 4070.

                        • @lookingforadeal7: Looks like a very solid choice. Upgrade to 32Gb RAM yourself, throw a 2nd SSD in if you need you're set for the next few years minimum.
Just keep in mind that this vs a desktop of the exact same specs would see a very different life expectancy and performance output.

                          • @Dipaty: Yeah definitely will do that. The laptop is currently at $2340 on sale so with 15% cashback + westpack bonus cashback should bring the laptop close to $2000 or just under which seems like a decent deal as I won't have to worry about the screen or keyboard. 2k could get me a decent build for sure and I know a 4070 laptop performs not much better than a 4060 desktop but I can justify $2000 for it just to be able to play outside or go up to the park with it.

                          • @Dipaty: After looking at gaming benchmarks for the laptop I think I'll stick to desktop after all and just get a cheaper laptop the 780m iGPU for light gaming and editing outside

                            • @lookingforadeal7: You can always get something like this desktop and then stream games from your PC to your laptop (regardless of the power of laptop) with sunshine / moonlight

                              • @Dipaty: Yeah I might look into doing that instead, I don't have much space here for a beefy setup which is why I sit outside most of the time so a laptop would be ideal for me but i can't justify the price/performance costs. Might keep an eye on the price of the 7900xtx and just invest in a decent TV to use for gaming it might end up being a similar cost to a 4080/4090 laptop.

                  • @Dipaty: Funny because I have the exact same laptop with 2070 Super connected to a 34" monitor and it's been running hot the last 2 months. Tonight, it crashed and I'm sick of it freezing. I need a desktop soon. I used to game a lot but not now so I'm looking at getting something that will last longer and less than 2k.

            • @lookingforadeal7: Is it? There was a nitro on ozbargain a little while ago that was pretty cheap.

              • @Franc-T: The 4060 laptop? It's alright but you could almost get a 4070 build for the price which will far outperform the laptop

                • @lookingforadeal7: True, but the 4070 build isnt a laptop. There is always a price premium for a gaming laptop, but its not insane imo

                  • @Franc-T: Yeah it's a decent premium on the lower end but once you get to the higher end of laptops it actual drops off and some value comes back due to the screen and that the 4080/4090 laptop GPUs perform really well. $1200~ for the cheapest 4060 build or for $500 less can get the i5 4060 desktop build from this deal which would definitely outperform the laptop.

                    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/827718

                    • @lookingforadeal7: For example Lenovo Legion 7i with 4080 and i9-13900hx is currently $3550. With a bit of a further sale + cashback if I could get it for closer to $3k~ it would almost be inline with a similar desktop build and you get a nice screen on top of it. It wouldn't perform as well as the desktop but closer than a 4060 laptop would to its counterpart.

E-Atx and Atx cases with a MATX motherboard…..eep

    • Not sure why the downvote….a small motherboard in a massive case looks weird. So people should know what to expect.

When you use your computer, do you stare at the tower, or the screen that you're looking at stuff on?

        • +2

The tower…..im awful at racing games because of it

          • @Fergy1987: Oh so you're my team mate who's shooting half a screen away from where the enemy is!

    Street pricing on individual cards:
    4070 Super 12GB $1040
    4070 Ti Super 16GB $1360
    4080 non Super 16GB $1570

    7900 XT 20GB $1200
    7900 XTX 24GB $1520

Bloodbath coming on AMD cards - pricing, non-raster performance and lack of features exposed by the Super series showing how badly Radeon has fallen

What version of the RTX 4070 Ti Super is it as some MSI models have been having problems…

  • +1

Hi @luketechfast, i sent you an email on my order for the 4090/7800x3d order, can you please check if you got it. Thanks

  • @luketechfast power supply needs updating on amd systems as site lists 650w bronze while 750w gold listed above

    • +1

      Fixed now, thanks

  • how come deals with amd gpu's are so rare?

    • +1

Because only the B tier NVIDIA AIB's like PNY, Gainward, Galax and Inno3D are overstocked with cards so they are forced to offload them in bulk to builders like TechFast

      • +1

Most companys make B tier products.
Its the Gigabyte eagle, the MSI ventus, Asus dual.

You're also associating entire brands as B tier products because they dont have significant market penentration in our region.
Your entire opinion is based on how much marketing has been shoved down your throat.

When will you be mentioning Biostar, Zotac, Palit, Colorful?

Galax isnt a B tier producer, PNY and Inno3d sometimes have A tier products.

        • +1

You're also associating entire brands as B tier products because they dont have significant market penentration in our region.

High availability is the very definition of an A tier brand

High availability = large die allocations from NVIDIA, top tier distributors around the world and strong relationships with retailers around the world - all serving large customer bases around the world

There is a reason why PNY in Australia distribute through Leader and not Synnex or Ingram

When will you be mentioning Biostar, Zotac, Palit, Colorful?

When they become relevant in the Australian market?

Pretty B tier behaviour when these predominantly Asia focused AIB's sell so poorly in their main territory that they have to dump cards into ANZ

          Galax isnt a B tier producer…

          They definitely are in Australia

Warranty service for 3080 Ti Hall Of Fame "A tier card" rejected because Galax AU distributor claims unpaid monies owed by retailer - now closed - who sold the card

Then go to the official Galax support page and check the bottom of the page:

          Laughable

          • @Look Up: This is entirely opinion and circumstancial, your best evidence is a warrenty issue because the retail store went out of business, distributor not being responsible (which is entirely the gullibility of the customer)
Galax cs just following a list, because its far easier to take the item back through the supply chain rather than deal with mail-in products, its like you dont know anything about logisitcs.
Notice how the reddit post you misrepresented goes cold and the user never posts again, or how the account was solely made to make that one post.
            Yeah, solid arguement.

          • @Look Up: You do realise Colorful sells more Nvidia GPU’s than Asus/Gigabyte and all the rest right?

    • AMD doesn't ship a lot of units. They're typically more cautious than NVIDIA. NVIDIA on the other hand, oversupplies their cards, meaning generally better availability. That being said, during the pandemic, both of them undersupplied the market. Or Distributors sold directly to miners/mining farms, rather than to retailers.

Is it just me or does it seem like a really good time to buy a PC? I was planning on holding off until towards the end of the year, but am I going to get stung by a market swing where I end up paying more for less?

    • +3

Buy it when you need it. Who knows what will happen in 12 months? Taiwan could get invaded and semiconductor prices go through the roof.

      • Dang that got me chilling already…

    • Im waiting for a month or two before buying, I think AMD cards will come down

  • +1

Any chance these comes in all white (case, components)?

  • Any of these have built in WiFi? My room doesn't reach Ethernet :(

    • Powerline adapters

  • @luketechfast quick question. For the 2tb gen 4 nvme m2 upgrade for $89 what m2 is it?

I was so excited waiting for the 4070 ti super and would have been all over this with the X3D. But after reading all the disappointing reviews, I think I might have to wait for the 5000 cards :(

    • +4

Was also waiting for the 4070Ti Super to be released as I was sure I would finally bite the bullet and get a new gaming desktop but reviews are so meh. I might just wait for the 4080S and see what happens

  • I cant find my address in the autofill

I'm sorry but this $1888 is exactly the kind of killer deal I was talking about last weekend when the (now deactivated) lolguy was being snipey.
It is excellent value - the CPU is equal to or better than the 5800X3D and the GPU is better than 3090 and approximately equal to RTX 3090 Ti.
Everyone who owns the RTX 4070 Ti talks well of it - and now it comes with more VRAM and a wider bus. What's not to like? Sure its not quite a 4080 - but for $1888 I mean what do you expect? Its still dang good value.

  • To those in the know, out of these three set ups how worth it is the best one for $2600 compared with the $1888. Is the extra $700 worth it.?

I get it depends but sometimes it's a definite yes/no

    • 7500f will basically have the same performance in most games as the top end. 7500f is around ~$300 and the i9 around $865. $565 extra but that build also has a liquid cooler and the motherboard might be more expensive so the total extra might be worth more than $700. 7500f is fairly capable for most consumers.

  • What would be the best value for money monitor to buy with the Ryzen 5 7500F | RTX 4070Ti SUPER? 1440P?

I would expect to get 140+FPS at high/ultra settings for most current gen games right?

  • +1

What is the ETA on these builds? Thanks.

  • Does anyone know why there's no option for NVME on the 2nd additional storage? Is the mobo capable of a 2nd M.2? Thanks.

  • Hi, I sent an email regarding a request to switch to the 4080s, if you could help check it out, that would be great.
