Doesn’t go too well in this review.

    • yeah there are a few negative reviews here and there though considerably more positive ones.. nothing like this will suit every use case..

      • +3

I'll vouch for it. I think if you have a fairly "vanilla' shaped pool it will perform well. Does a stellar job in our 10x4.5 fibreglass pool (pretty much a rectangle)

Worth checking ebay, I got it for $746 with an ebay coupon end of last year.

  • Read this as Robotic Poo Cleaner

    Aint that the shit…

  • +1

having personally picked up an aiper seagul se previously, it didn't perform to its claims. ended up returning it

  • Any recommendations for a good automated corded pool cleaner and I can leave running during day time to do it's thing?

    • +1

      I recently got this

      https://poolandspawarehouse.com.au/zodiac-fx18-robotic-pool-…

I’m pretty happy with it. No smarts about it but does at it claims, and only need to run for 3 hours at once, every few days.

    • Have had this one for over 2 years, aussie company and great customer support so far. Highly recommend it: https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/robo-tek-robo-plus

Seems they have a newer model out now, the v2, which I can't vouch for, but I would probably buy it if i needed a new one.

I run mine once a week for 1-2 hours and the pool comes out looking spotless.

      • Far out those are some mixed reviews…

      • I've had it for the last 2 years. It's okay, but does not stand up to the reviews.
Sometimes it will just kind of get stuck in the same area, will not do the steps part of my pool, and cleaning the debris chamber is cumbersome.

    • I’ve got a zodiac FX18.
Been going pretty strong for the last year for me with no complaints press a button and it’s done.

I put it in 2x a week, let it run its cycle for 4 hours and take it out when I come home.

Hose out its basket and it’s ready for next time.

  • Anyone know the maximum pool size this can clean?

I've got a 40mx40mx4m pool, will this work?

    • I’d suggest a bigger machine.

If you have a pool and you don't have a robot cleaner, you're missing out big time.
I'm a long time pool robot cleaner owner.
    I have a Barricuda.. probably 8 years old. Hasn't missed a beat.

Choose your brand wisely. Most important with robot pool cleaners is to make sure it climbs the walls.
(Some will only do the bottom of the pool.)

Robot pool cleaners are a GAME CHANGER. Massive difference to any other pool cleaning method.

If you're on the fence, make the change. You'll never look back.

    • Which branch did you get

    • Whats the big difference between one that just goes into skimmer box and runs off pool pump suction? Just wondering, I don't have any plants that drop leaves so is it worth?

      • +1

constantly skimming the top, and cleaning the bottom at the same time.

      • +1

All of the dirt and leaves goes to skimmer box, which you then have to clean.
Some of it makes it through the skimmer box and then goes to filter, which then you have to clean.

Robots are completely separate. They catch all dirt, stopping it from going through skimmer box and filter.
Much cleaner and more efficient way of cleaning.

        Hope that helps :)

  • After advice. Suction cleaners Vs Robotic. I have a zodiac mx8 that runs from the skim box 8hrs a day as the pumps on. Only take it out for swim days. Gets about the pool ok apart from above the toe ledge. Had two years, had to replace 3 hoses and one replacement gearbox. Whilst not smart, it does get around the pool well, occasionally gets stuck on larger debris. What’s the consensus on suction cleaners vs electric robot ones?

    • +3

I have had both and have used a Zodiac Robot Cleaner for the last 5 years or so.

Suction cleaners I still think pickup finer dirt and debris as it passes it all through the filter.

With my robot it is much more convenient, and I can run the variable speed pump at a MUCH lower rate saving $$$$.

      • Thanks. Can you elaborate on the convenience? As I see it, there is overhead bringing it in and out pool and another basket to empty? Good point about the lower pump speed, although for me I’m only running during Solar excess, but still like efficiency. Thanks for your answer

I throw it in once or twice a week. If the pool is very dirty you don’t have to worry about the skimmer box filling badly and causing pump issues is another advantage.

Much easier for swimming as well as there are no huge pipes lying around.

  • Looking at getting a pool (well buying a home with a pool) and wondering how much time something like this would save? Just looking for very general info.

    • Big time saver. Throw robot in and forget about it. Come back, remove robot and clean it (quick and easy… use hose). Put it away until next time.

Saved time = no cleaning skimmer box… no cleaning filter.

If your South of Sydney don't bother. Way too much work for not enough use. Not too mention pool pumps running heaps of hours.. I'm about to fill mine in! This bot is one of my last attempts at keeping it

  • I have a 9.5m a 4.3m Macquarie pool which has a narrow shelf all the way around the pool under the water level, as well as some steps on one side. Will this clean above the shelf and the steps?

  • does anyone know if a robotic pool cleaner exists that can "auto empty?". I know that'd need some type of bin thing inside your pool, which i'd be ok with.

i have a zodiac mx8 presently, but our pool has soooo much debis in it all the time (overhanging trees) that i just dont get around to cleaning the robot cleaner out often enough and setting it off. It's always full after just one run.
Would be ideal if a robotic cleaner can be on "auto mode", and empty itself into a bin, and you'd just clean out the bin once a week.

  • Hi, totally agree that pool robots are an excellent way to keep the pool clean: they also decrease the time needed to run the filters so there is a big saving in electricity costs.
However it is important to buy one with a fine filter to pick up dust and fine debris. There is no mention of the mesh size that I can see. The best filter size that I know of is 30 microns. I think the cordless robots can't filter to this degree (maybe 180 microns) but you should endeavour to find out the mesh size prior to buying. Another important feature is the robots wall climbing ability: this is very important so that walls and tiles are scrubbed. It seems that the best models at doing this have rubber tracks, not wheels. I would really like to see how this wheeled model compares to the tracked version.
I have a Dolphin X40 Plus with 30 micron filter. It climbs walls very well and filters dirt. The major downside is the cable which is starting to degenerate sloughing minuscule pieces of rubber into the pool. It is over priced also but has worked faithfully for about three years.
This product is made in China. There is an Australian company that manufactures three models of pool robot with a one month return policy : Look at "Poolbot" Robot my life

Got $135 off using code COMEBACK15. Couldn't resist. Just bought it even if the negative reviews are true. You pay for what you get. Spend minimal, expect minimal. LOL.

    • Nice! I'm going to see if I can try it too

    • Great deal, thanks for sharing, pulled the trigger!

    • Thanks took the plunge too

    • Thanks for the coupon code :) Just purchased.

  • Got mine today! Very impressed!

Lol. Same. And it climbs the tiled walls!!! Stupid Zodiac AX10, falsely advertising that it does.

    • Cant wait to receive mine, i have stairs though which i know could be an issue, but hopefully its not a big one

  • Got one of these last month for $769. I am still unsure if it really does the job fully. It certainly doesn't work like the diagrams as in no straight line grid back and forth. It doesn't even go end to end it kind of goes all over the place turning randomly in the middle of the pool but it seems to somehow cover most areas. It certainly picks up stuff from the bottom as the basket always has something in it. They dont do stairs or ledges.

  • Confirmed that the specs of the "Seagull Pro" have changed, this is not the same spec machine with the same name that was at launch and is in many reviews, it has a smaller battery, less power, lower run time.

    • Please advise how you confirmed? Mine runs for 3 hours without issue

      • I contacted Aiper.

Look at the site, the specs no longer match what they used to say, even though the product name is the same. It's not the same product as it used to be. I think the change is the battery, the original is 9000 mAh, the new one 7800 mAh.

I don't know which they were selling a few days or weeks ago, but currently it's a lower spec, and very confusing. I think the manual will say which is which.
